He had made her his queen, despite knowing it would cause a war in all the realms, not just his. The consequences hadn't been so clear to him until that one night their palace, no their home, was under siege and both of them had to hide.

Dozens and dozens of people died, but the castle was secured. Yet a powerful sorcerer was able to intrude the castle as a spy.

Once the queen found out, she no longer felt safe in her own home. He promised to keep her safe, and she trusted him with her life.

So when they night fell and the sorcerer saw his chance of ending this marriage once and for all, after the queen had blown his cover, the couple fled to the countryside where they were able to find peace.

She did not marry him for his status, his riches nor his crown, she married him out of love for who he was, with or without a crown.

The couple lived a long and happy life in peace, without a crown but they felt like they had gained the world.
