Magical Happenings
As she had been walking through the town she had lived in all her life, she found herself in a part she had never been to before. It was darker and gave her an odd feeling in her stomach, almost as if-
No, magic did not exist.
She walked over the streets and went wherever the road led her. Today, it led her into a darker part of town.
'Hmm', she muttered as she turned into a small alley which had looked interesting from the outside to her.
The alley was small and there were shops on both sides of it. From the looks of it there weren't many who went through this alley, let alone go into the shops. Many of them were closed and looked like they could fall apart at any moment.
Anyways, there was one shop at the right side in the middle of the alley which caught her attention. In the shop window there were many odd items, or so she thought. She saw a crystal ball and multiple flasks filled with odd looking fluids.
She walked up to the door and pushed it open. As she did so a bell rang, making whoever owned the place aware of her presence.
'Ah welcome, welcome.'
A middle aged woman appeared from seemingly nowhere in the middle of the small, dusty shop after a couple of seconds.
'How can I help you today?' the woman asked as she took a couple of steps towards her.
'Uhm', she began as she looked around the shop.
Suddenly this didn't seem like such a good idea anymore.
'Ah I see', the woman said as she took a couple of steps in her direction. 'You're new. Am I right?'
She quickly nodded and studied the woman. Her black hair she wore in a very neat up-do and she wore a knee length dark blue dress matched with a black jacket.
'Well then', the woman said as she seemingly studied her in return. 'I'm Meadow Morelli, you can call me miss Morelli if you like. Or just Meadow. Anyways, oh you like that necklace don't you?'
She quickly shook her head and turned away from a necklace she had been looking at. It was a pale blue necklace, which to her seemed really pretty and something she would definitely wear when going to some place fancy.
'I wouldn't touch it if I were you', the woman said. 'Unless you're wearing gloves, double layered, and promise to never wear it or let anybody wear it unless in self defence, I won't give it to you.'
'Oh', she replied. 'So this ain't a-'
'Shop', the woman finished her sentence. 'Oh no, it is. But it's so much more than that. This is Miss Morelli's, so mine, shop for all magical happenings. Need gossip? I know where to find it. Need a necromancer? Same thing, but I sure hope you don't. Need a potion? Just as well. So, what do you need?'
'I don't know', she replied with a sigh as she looked around her.
'I see', the woman said. 'You don't know much, do you?'
She bit her lip and stared at the floor. She really wished to leave, the shop and the woman made her feel very weird. It was indescribable actually, it was as if she had stepped into a whole other world and now wished to leave.
'Can I go?' she asked as she looked hopefully at the door.
'Of course', the woman replied. 'But I don't know if you want to.'
She looked up worriedly. What could that possibly mean?
'I don't-', she said as she turned.
Slowly she began to walk to the door, her heart was pounding in her chest. Everything in her was screaming to leave, but there was something in the back of her mind not willing to leave.
'You're doubting yourself', the woman said as she folded her hand around the door knob. 'You will come back, sweetie, I know you will.'
She turned around and looked the woman in the eyes.
'You don't know me', she hissed as she stared at her.
'Oh I know', the woman said as she took a couple of steps in her direction. 'But I know what others like you have done in the past. You will come back, mark my words.'
She shook her head and pulled the door open. She was never coming back, or at least she thought so right now. She stepped outside without looking back.
'See you tomorrow sweetie', was the last thing she heard the woman say before she pulled the door close behind her.
