Visiting a Grave

A lone figure walked through a dead forest, the snow crunching quietly under his boots.

'no. Not snow. Ash.' the skeleton quietly reminded himself as he lifted his head to look at the ruined landscape.

He used to live here, he mused as he aproached the decayed remains of a village, idly noticing his Ghost flitting around near his skull.

"Guardian. Are you sure you want to do this?" The Ghost asked quietly, his blue 'eye' shrinking in something akin to concern.

Guardian nodded, lifting a gloved hand to sign 'im sure. I need to do this, for my own sake if nothing else.'

The Ghost went quiet for a moment, then teleported away as Guardian stopped in front of the remains of a house. The skeleton lifted a hand and rested it on what was left on the door, a somber look on his face as he moved inside.

He looked around, checking for enemys, before walking further into what had once been his living room and sitting down on the fadded remains of a red couch. In his minds eye he could see how the house had been as if it was yesterday, instead of century's ago. He felt a tight feeling in his chest and cleared his nonexistent throat, moving to stand.

He looked at a pile of rotton wood, then a laugh burst out of him when he spotted a lone rock in the rubble. He stepped over and picked the rock up, his white eyelights glowing brighter as he examined it before putting it away in his pocket.

He then turned and carefully made his way up the stairs, using some magic to avoid actually putting his weight on them. He stopped at the first door, the tight feeling coming back before he went inside

He stopped and blinked, surprised as how good the room looked compared to the living room. He strode over to the racecar bed and sat down, just taking it in. The room looked almost identical to how he had left it, before he had…

He shook his head. He didnt need to trigged a melt down in his dead brothers room. He took a breath, remembering why he had come here.

"Hey Bro" he said, his voice a harsh staticy rasp that painfully tore itself free from his throat. "Its been a while, hu."

He coughed a little, wincing in pain. "The underground has changed a lot sense that kid went through here. Snowdinn isnt very snowy now, cus hotlands magma rose. Took me a while to figure out the new path here."

He noticed his ghost appearing next to him as he started coughing again, clutching his throat.

"Guardian stop. Your going to make your voice worse" Blueberry said quietly, only for the skeleton to shake his head.

"Sorry about that bro. Anyways, the barriers gone. No idea why. Best guess is it just got to old and sense there was no magic left it just fell." He continued, ignoring the coppery taste in his mouth.

"Me, Undyne and Grillby got revived by those things called Ghosts, and we got new names now. Undyne is Angler, grilbz is Ember now, and i just stuck with Guardian. Maybe you'll get brought back too." He clutched his knee as he leaned forward, feeling liquid dripping down his face.

"But its probably better if you dont come back. Dont get me wrong bro, i miss you. A lot. But as much as i think you would love being a guardian like the rest of us i dont think i could stand seeing you die again and again and again" he choked out, Blueberry moving closer to him as his vision blurred.

"And i know you would. You wouldn't be able to kill like we need to and with all the shit running around that we need to fight and kill and destroy you wouldnt be able to handle bro. I love you but you wouldnt be able to do it" he rambled, deep blue black blood dripping free from his mouth and staining his coat. Blueberry tryed to get the destressed skeletons attention, magic crackling around him.

"Im so sorry pap. If i had any choice i would have never come back and id still be a pile of dust in that damn hall because i sure as hell dont deserve this second chance after i let that freak kill you and everyone else"

"Sans?" The skeletons head snapped up to stare at the tall fish monster standing in the doorway with light purple tears streaming from his eyesockets. Angler had to quickly move to avoid being impaled by several bones that shot up due to the skeletons raging magic

"Shit! Calm the fuck down!" She snapped, moving around the bones to get closer to Guardian. "Fuck this is not what i was expecting when Blueberry called me"

Guardian curled in on himself at that, fighting to calm his magic down "im-" he was cut off by a coughing fit, covering his mouth with a hand to avoid spraying blood on his brothers bed.

"Dude shut the fuck up you have talked enough for today." The Titan said as she sat next to him. "Just breath. Embers on his way too." She said, patting his back to help him

Guardian whiped at his face as he tried to stop crying, hiccuping softly. 'im sorry. I miss him.' he signed

"Its fine. I miss that goof too. This is his room, right?" She asked, looking around as Guardian nodded. "Its in pretty good condition, considering Hotland fucking exploaded" she said, getting a weak chuckle from her friend.

'Yeah. I was surprised to. Found pet rock' he signed, pulling it out

Angler laughed at that. "You had a fucking rock as a pet!" She cackled, making Guardian weeze with her as he put the rock away.

After a few moments the fish stopped laughing. "Well, now that your calm how about we head outside and wait for grillby. He wanted to check out his tavern" she said, getting a nod before Guardian stood up, holding out a hand to her.

She grinned and grabbed his offered hand, quickly standing and then throwing him over her shoulder. "Ha! Like I'd let you walk after your fit punk!" She cackled before running out of the room with the skeleton hitting her back in protest
