June 1: Evil Kaminari AU

Prompt: Eye contact, Security Office, Missing Item

Kaminari was jittery. The blonde couldn't stop his eyes from shifting. First to the left, then to the right; back to the left again. People walked past him, some barely giving him a second glance. He didn't know what was worse. The fact they didn't seem to care, or that he'd forgotten just how careless people were in today's society. Everyone was so reliant on hero's.

At one point, he'd been the same. He walked these streets with his parents, friends, family. There hadn't been a care in the world. Images flicker through his mind, all of them shrouded in darkness, but clear enough that he knew what they represented.

"You think a hero's coming to save you? Then where's your hero, little electric boy?"

His hand lifted, and he gripped the spot over his heart. Electricity hums under his skin, shocking the vile thing into an unforgiving rhythm of chaos. His teeth ground together, and he clicked his tongue.

UA made you weak, Denki. Get yourself together.

He'd gone over the plan hundreds of times the night prior. Sleep had been far from his grasp as he'd tossed and turned, imaging it. Everything would work out, Shigaraki would make sure of that. His only job was to commandeer the security office. It was the first place someone would go to call for hero back-up.

"Mom!" A small child's voice called out. The shrill sound of it pulled a flinch from Kaminari. "Look at his clothes," the little girl said, her brown pig tails bounced as she tugged on her mother's arm. "He's a hero." she turns her large, brown eyes to Kaminari. His chest tightened at the word pressure building within him as it became harder to breathe.

A hero.

"That's right, sweetie." The mother smiled at Kaminari, her pixie-like features sending a chill down his spine. "Thank him for his hard work."

The child turned her chubby face his way. His Adam's apple bobbed at the look. He saw a reflection of himself in her eyes. A time when things were peaceful. When he was hopeful. When he was ignorant.

His nostrils flared, and his hand dropped from his chest, curling into a fist at his side. Yes, UA had made him weak during his time there, and now he was regretting ever agreeing to the mission. The image of a certain black-haired boy with unique elbows flashed through his mind. His stomach knotted, and he shoved the image away.

"Excuse me?" the mother spoke up. Kaminari looked to her, pupils dilated. Her hand lifts, reaching for him. "Are you al-"

"Don't touch me, lady. It won't be pretty." He said, his electricity bleeding into the surrounding air. The woman jumped back, shoving her daughter behind her. People stop walking, all of them glancing in his direction. He growled low in his throat, shoving his hands into his pockets to hide the sparks shooting from his skin. Now he'd done it. Shigaraki was sure to have a word about drawing attention to himself when that wasn't part of the mission.

He focused his eyes on the security office located across the shopping plaza. Inside, people in blue uniforms walked around, going about their business. Kaminari always laughed at these people, who were nothing more than hero wannabes. If the heroes couldn't save his friends, then what good did they think they were to society.

He took a step forward, set in his course, when a hand wrapped around his forearm, yanking him back a step.

"Don't even think about it, Denki. I know what you're planning, and I will not let you follow through." Sero's hissed words had Kaminari's heart lodging in his throat. He didn't dare turn around. He wouldn't be able to stomach looking his classmate in the eyes. Not after getting caught like this.

How did he figure it out? No one else knows.

"You aren't that slick." Sero said, and Kaminari jerked. He hated how the boy could read him so well. They'd developed a close connection during his time at UA, one that he was both fond of and heartbroken over.

Kaminari's gaze dropped from the security office to Sero's hand. Long pale fingers curled around his forearm. Small sparks of electric bounced onto Sero's exposed skin, leaving red marks on the pale flesh. The sight had tingles coming to life in the base of his spine. He tried to shift his body, to pull away.

"If you keep hold, you'll-"

"You think that's important, Denki? Really. I'm not scared of a few zaps." His voice was tight as he gave another tug on Kaminari's arm. "C'mon, look at me."

"No."

"Why?"

Kaminari had no response, or rather, he didn't like the only response that came to mind. Sero barked a short, humorless laugh.

"Scared if you look at me you won't be able to follow through on your plan?"

"No." the response was too quick, his voice too pitched. Another snort from the boy behind him set his blood on fire. More electric coursed beneath his skin. Crackling sounded in his ears; if that wasn't sign enough, the gasp from behind told him just what level his quirk was rising to.

"Please, Denki, look at me. We can talk about this. We can figure something out."

"There's nothing to figure out, Hanta," Kaminari flinched at the name. He'd gotten use to using it, but things were changing now. First names meant being close with someone, and Kaminari had vowed never to fall into that ignorant bliss of a relationship again.

"Don't do that. Don't push me away. This isn't you." Sero pulled Kaminari back against him, taking the electric waves that wrapped around Kaminari's skin like a moving blanket.

"Stop, Han-" he bit his tongue, not allowing himself to finish the name. His eyes zeroed in on the sidewalk.

"I don't know all the details, but I know you, Denki. Please, let me help."

"There's nothing you can help with." A tremble shot across Kaminari's body as images of the past replayed.

"Then where's your hero, little electric boy?"

Screams of the past bounced against the walls of his ears, tormenting him like they did in the nightmares he had every time he closed his eyes. He ground his teeth together, pulling in deep breaths through his nose.

Not every night.

A small voice whispered.

Not the nights you stay with Hanta.

It was a cruel fact that he'd refused to acknowledge, just like the truth he'd been bent on hiding under the guise of acting. As this day grew closer, it became increasingly harder to deny.

"Denki," the pleading note almost sends Kaminari over the edge, but then he hears it. The voice that's guided him. The one that's promised him strength to carry on.

"I'm no hero, but I can show you how to make sure you never need to rely on one again."

Kaminari pulls out of Sero's arms. The electricity amplifies around him as he clenches his hands. The rustic taste of blood coats the inside of his mouth as he bites down on his lip.

"That's enough, Sero." He looks back, willing himself to have the strength that the others allows had. The moment he'd joined the League of Villains, he'd seen what true resolve looked like, and he'd wanted it. He'd craved it. Sure, All for One had sugar-coated words and promises, but it was never enough to give Kaminari the reassurance he'd needed to know that he was on the right path. When he'd walked through the doors and into the first meeting, that's when he'd found what he was looking for.

His eyes clash with Sero's and every interaction they'd had, every laugh, every heartfelt moment, every conversation, crashed into him. It left him winded for only a moment, before setting his resolve in stone.

"The 'Denki' you talked with, the one of UA, was never the genuine one." A smile twists his mouth in a lopsided grin. "The one you see now is who I've always been."

Sero shakes his head, reaching for Kaminari, but the boy takes a step back.

"Are you stupid?" Kaminari laughed. "You touch me, it'll be lights out before you know what hit you."

Faster than he can react, tape shot from the boys elbows, wrapping around Kaminari and pulling him back to Sero. He struggled against it, steeling himself to make the move he'd dreaded since realizing his feelings for the boy. The churning emotions behind Sero's stubborn gaze told him all he needed to know. He'd have to do it if he wanted to complete his mission.

"Fine." Kaminari whispered, his voice barely audible over the crackling of his electricity. "Indiscriminate-"

Sero's mouth pressed over Kaminari's, sealing the words between them. A cry sounded in the back of the blonde's throat and he fought against Sero to no avail. He'd always been the stronger of the two, he'd learned it the hard way in their many sparring sessions.

His mind silenced as the world around them bled away. Sero's hands cupped the blonde's face, pulling him closer, his lips a hot, desperate plea against Kaminari's own. Tears sprung to his eyes, and he squeezed them closed, hands gripping at his sides.

He wouldn't give in.

Sero's thumbs brushed over the heated skin of Kaminari's cheek, rubbing small back-and-forth lines against the skin. Tingles rose to the surface, his flesh already sensitive from the electricity. His stomach came alive with flutters.

He wouldn't give in.

Sero pulled away, pressing his forehead against Kaminari's. He could feel the light sheen of sweat over the boy's skin. It was clear from the pinch of his face that the shocks were getting to him. There was only so much a person could take, and Kaminari knew Sero wouldn't hold out much longer.

"Sero-"

"Hanta," he breathed. His eyes fluttered open, meeting Kaminari's. A soft, kind smile curled his lips and pressure built in Kaminari's chest at the look. There was no fear, or anger, or hate in his gaze. "It's Hanta."

A sob bubbled up Kaminari's throat at the strained tone. He sealed his mouth closed, refusing to let it escape into the world.

He wouldn't give in.

Sero leaned forward, pressing soft kiss after soft kiss against Kaminari's face. With every peck, Kaminari felt the painstaking resolve he'd worked so hard to build crumble to mere pebbles. Sero kissed a trail over his cheeks, across the bridge of his nose. With every peck, Kaminari felt the painstaking resolve he'd worked so hard to build crumble to mere pebbles. The kisses made a path to his ear, and warmth spread in Kaminari's stomach as Sero said,

"I'm your Hanta, and you're my Denki." Labored breaths left the boy's body, every word becoming a trying task. "You'll always be my Denki."

No.

Kaminari pleaded, trying to hold on. He couldn't give in. He was still looking for what he'd lost that day.

But you've already found something better.

"Then where's your hero, little electric boy?"

The villain's words from that time had haunted him to this day, and the one who'd saved him still echoed with the promise.

"I'm no hero, but I can show you how to make sure you never need to rely on one again."

The league of villains offered him the opportunity to make it in the world; they promised him a strength where he wouldn't have to rely on others. He didn't need to have connections. Shigaraki and the others were proof enough of that, with a strong enough resolve and hate, one could thrive in the world.

But I want to rely on him.

The thought slammed into Kaminari, winding him.

I want to rely on Hanta. I don't want to do it on my own anymore.

The electricity eased away, and Sero's body sagged against Kaminari.

"Denki," his voice was groggy. The sob Kaminari fought to keep locked up escaped. His arms pressed against the restraints of the tape.

"Hanta," he said. "Hanta, release me."

Sero shook his head, his hair tickling Kaminari's cheek. "No, not until you promise." the words became slurred. Kaminari's stomach twisted; he could feel the terrifying beat of Sero's heart against his chest. It wasn't a pace anyone's should be.

"I promise, Hanta, I promise. Now let me help you."

"What do you p-promise, Denki?"

"Then where's your hero, little electric boy?"

"I promise never to leave you again. I promise never to become something I'm not. I promise-" he hiccuped, "-I promise to become strong enough to repay you for everything you've given me."

My hero is right here.
