Short Story 3: The Key
"The key?" Alexsandra held a small but elaborately designed silver key. Alessandro looked at his twin sister, grinning. "Remember how Mom gave you the key a few years ago. We didn't know what it was for exactly but I found a box in the attic just a few hours ago and I think that key can open it." Alexsandra looked at the key and then her brother. "Did you take the box out of the attic or is it still up there?" He began to walk to the attic and she followed. "Obviously I don't have it with me Sis! It's still in the attic!" Alessandro said while pulling the rope that opened the door to the attic. A ladder came down with a thump and they began to climb up. In the attic, Alessandro and Alexsandra looked around. Alexsandra picked up a dark blue blanket with a beautiful nighttime sky design. "Hey! This was the blanket that Dad gave to Mom when they first started dating!" Alessandro looked over and smiled. "I'm surprised it's still in good condition. I thought it would have been eaten by moths by now." Alexsandra agreed with her brother. "Found it!" Alessandro exclaimed, holding up a small box. Alexsandra went to her brother and looked at it. The box was made out of silver and had a complex rose design sketched in it. The lock on the box was a light blue rose made out of glass. The twins looked at each other, one excited the other nervous. Alexsandra slowly put the key in the lock and twisted it. The box opened, revealing three objects that somehow managed to fit in the small space. There was a necklace with a rose charm that looked like the lock, diary with the name Victoriano DeAndre inscribed on the cover, and light blue handkerchief with white lace on the edges. Alessandro and Alexsandra looked at each other with curiosity. They both thought to themselves,'Why are these objects locked away in a box?'
