Promise (Attack on Titan)
Rain was coming down hard has a fight was taking place. What was it over? A father trying to protect his little girl. She was hiding behind a box, watching has the tall man with short, dirty blond hair was fighting off three large men. Their faces where hidden by hoods so the girl couldn't see what they looked like. The father's goldish-brown eyes was focused on them, doing his job has both a worried father and an officer.
The girl's normal curly hair was now straight thanks to the rain. Her matching eyes of her father was focused on the fight. He had already taken two of the three men and was now trying to get the third down. Yet he didn't see it in time: the third had a knife hidden in his sleeve.
"Daddy look out!" the little girl cried. Yet it was too late. The knife went forward, right into her father's stomach. His guts came out has the man sliced upwards. Only when he heard others yell did he stop and run.
"Sweetie...." the fallen man whispered, looking at the box his daughter stood besides. Tears mixed with raindrops fell from her face. She rushed over, trying to stop her father from bleeding to death. He grabbed her hands to stop her, his breathing becoming slower by the second.
"Daddy?" the girl asked, sniffing a little.
"It's no use my golden eye girl," the man said. "I'm beyond saving. Now... listen to me closely... I wished I would have more time to explain... yet I don't... I hoped to have... a son.... for now you are the one... who will think you must keep... the Adrain line going.... don't follow in my footsteps. Don't join this one.... they aren't... meant for you... freedom... that's what I want you to follow.... follow freedom...."
"What do you mean follow freedom?"
"Nana... there's more... when you join them... don't throw around your last name... it's a dangerous one... and trust no one... no one can be trusted in these walls... Nana... I'm out of time... I'm sorry I can't explain.... I'm sorry I let this happen.... goodbye my golden eyed girl..."
"Daddy!" Nana screamed when his eyes went blank. He didn't answer, no matter how much she screamed and cried. The man was dead. And with him died the answer to what he told her. It wouldn't be until she was grown that the little girl would understand.
Yet that day, Nana promised her father that she would follow freedom. She would follow the line and path set out with her, but no matter where it lead her, freedom would be where she was going. She would be bond by this promise and the life her father left behind. She wouldn't let his death to save her be one that wasn't needed. She would make sure she was useful. That she would keep his life going through her.
(For my cousin @Trash-Daddy Hope you enjoy!)
