Dear Theodosia (Hamilton)

Burr was walking around the streets of New York. People kept looking at him with pity in their eyes. He knew people were whispering about him, but at that point he didn't really care. He wanted the world to just stop at that moment.

He passed shops he would also stop in with her. He could see her smiling as she tried on dresses and hats, or looked at books that she wanted to read, or even trying a free sample from the pastry shop. She used to love coming to town with her father since the two could always goof off together. It was one of the few times that Burr himself would ever show what he was truly feeling.

"I hear she was the only thing keeping the man going," he heard a lady whisper.

"Well I heard that when she came to town he would always smile. He never used to do that when she was gone. He probably won't smile anymore now that she is gone," another whispered.

"He doesn't speak to anyone unless he truly as to," the wife of the shop owner said. "He came in the other day and bought something from my husband and didn't say a word to anyone. Not even old friends."

"I hear he won't even talk to the president."

"Poor man. I can't imagine losing one of my babies."

Burr just kept walking. He was starting to understand why his old friend Hamilton used to walk around by himself after his son died. It really was quiet around town and it was helping him imagine that his dear little girl would come running up beside him, almost like she had stopped for a second and feel behind. Theodosia always did that when they walked together. Yet now she was gone. The sea had taken the brightest thing in his life from him. He didn't even get to see her body one last time like most parents did. No one could find it or even tell him for certain what fate had fallen on his daughter.

People were spreading rumors like crazy over it. Some say pirates took her and killed her for her money. Other say a storm took the ship to the bottom of the sea. Others say she survived only to be killed by natives. Burr wouldn't see a word about what he thought since he couldn't even wrap his mind around it. His little girl was dead. She died on her way to see him. He may as well have been the one to sentence her to death. If she had stayed with her husband, she would have been alive. Yet she said she was going to see her father after all the troubles he had gone through recently. He had basically killed Theodosia.

Burr walked into his home, almost like a zombie at this point. It had become normal for him to just walk like his mind wasn't even thinking about it. He sat down at his desk, staring at a picture of his daughter. His only child. The only person left in his life that was alive and stayed by his side.

His parents were dead. Laurens was dead. Washington was dead. His wife Theodosia was dead. Hamilton was dead by his own hands. Everyone he knew and loved was dead. Mulligan no longer talked to him much after he shot Alexander. He did stop by that morning to ask if Burr was alright, yet he barely answered. He wasn't much for talking now that Theodosia had joined the long list of people who were dead.

"Dear Theodosia, what to say to you," Burr whispered as he stared at the picture. "You've joined your mother up in heaven. I'm sorry for breaking your heart so much. You never had a happy life because your father was a dead beat who couldn't give you the best. You deserved the best in life and all you got was me. Now you're gone... I'm so sorry!" He screamed, burring his head in his hands and sobbing. "I couldn't save you and I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"
