Wind of Luck
I was walking through the forest with my pet dog, Bubbles. It was a cool and quiet morning. Birds were chirping in the distance, flowers and trees were swaying in the gentle breeze. Then the gentle breeze turned into a gust. I stopped for a second and looked around.
Something felt off about this certain gust of wind. It only lasted half a minute and then it died down back to a gentle breeze. I shrugged and thought my mind must be paranoid. As Bubbles and I continued our routine walk through the forest, I felt hungry. "Are you hungry, Bubbles?" I asked my dog.
Bubbles barked in reply. "I'll take that as a yes," I said. We started walking home when something shiny on the ground caught my eye. I bent down and picked it up. It was a quarter! I smiled and put the quarter in my pocket.
Not too long after, another shiny object stopped me in my tracks. I picked it up and saw it was another quarter! I kept finding quarters until I had two dollars and fifty cents.
When we reached the edge of the forest, there was an ice cream truck. "Special sale! All ice cream is one dollar!" the ice cream man called. I walked up to the truck.
"I'll take a Carmel Chocolate Chunck and a Banana Boat Blast please," I said. "That'll be two dollars," the man said. I handed him the money. "Do you have anything for fifty cents?" I asked.
"Yep. Today's your lucky day, kid. I have a Ring Pop for fifty cents," the man replied. "Awesome! Thanks," I said as I gave the man the rest of the money and took the bag.
When I got home, I gave my little brother the Ring Pop, my parents the Banana Boat Blast, and my grandpa the Carmel Chocolate Chunk. "How were you able to afford all this?" my dad asked.
"First of all, it was a special sale: all ice cream was one dollar and the Ring Pop was fifty cents. Second, I found the two dollars and fifty cents on the forest floor when I was walking," I explained.
"Did you happen to feel any odd change in the wind?" grandpa asked.
"Why yes! It was a gentle breeze but then for half a minute it was a gust," I replied.
Grandpa chuckled and said, "That was the Wind of Luck."
