Deadly Love
Cordelia walked in the park. An autumn breeze blew through her hair. She walked with her hands behind her back, humming "The 12 Days of Christmas". Cordelia was lost in her dream world until something hit her back. She spun around, glaring at the red-haired boy who was holding a soccer ball.
"I am really sorry," the boy said.
Cordelia relaxed. "Oh, uh, it's ok," she replied.
"My name is Omar. My buddies and I are playing soccer and I need another player on my team. Wanna join?" the boy asked.
"Sure. I'm Cordelia, by the way," she replied. Omar smiled and said, "Pretty name." Cordelia blushed.
They played soccer until the sun started to set. "Want me to walk you home?" Omar asked.
"Sure, if you want," Cordelia replied.
Omar smiled. When they got to her house, Omar stopped and gently grabbed Cordelia's arm.
"Hey, I realize now you're a vampire. I don't know if you've noticed, but...I'm a werewolf," he said.
Cordelia gasped. Werewolves and vampires were enemies.
"Listen. Please don't freak out, but I also realize I have a crush on you," Omar said quickly.
"I-I like you, too," Cordelia said.
They inched closer and closer until their lips touched. They stood there for a moment that seemed like hours. When they broke apart, laughter came from above them.
"Brendon!" Cordelia yelled at her little brother, who was watching them through and open window.
"Meet at the park tomorrow afternoon?" Omar asked.
"Sure," Cordelia replied, winking at him as she went inside.
"Cordelia's in love," Brendon taunted.
"Don't make me hurt you," Cordelia replied, glaring at him.
Brendon went wide-eyed and ran upstairs.
"Who's the lucky guy?" Kank, Cordelia's dad, asked.
"Alan," Cordelia lied. She knew that her parents would know Omar is a werewolf based on his name.
"You should bring him over tomorrow," Levana, Cordelia's mom, suggested.
"Uh, sure," Cordelia replied hesitantly as she went upstairs.
"That sneaky little brat is hiding something," Levana whispered after Cordelia had disappeared.
"Yes, you are probably right, but so are we," Kank replied.
"We're allowed to! She's not!" Levana burst out.
"Shhh, you're going to bring her back down here. Listen, if she leaves the house tomorrow, I'll secretly followed her, along with some others. If she's in love with our enemy, we'll kill him," Kank explained.
Levana smiled and said, "You always come up with the best plans. But here's one flaw: how will she react when she finds out we killed him?"
Kank replied, "We'll make it look like an accident."
The next day, Cordelia left at noon. She found Omar waiting on a swing and ran up to him. He jumped up and wrapped her in a hug.
"Hey, I was thinking last night. We should run away. We would be safer from both our parents," Cordelia said.
"I was thinking that as well, so I prepared a hidden stash of supplies. We can leave right now," Omar said.
"Alright. Let's go," Cordelia replied excitedly.
"Give me a minute while I go fetch the supplies," Omar said as he disappeared into the nearby woods.
Unknown to Omar, vampires waited in the shadows. When he passed by, they jumped him. Then, they covered his mouth and dragged him to the cover of the shadows.
"Are you Cordelia's boyfriend?" one asked.
"Why do you care?" Omar growled.
A vampire slapped him across the face. "I'm the one asking questions here!" the vampire exclaimed angrily.
"Cool it, Chase," a deep voice said.
Chase backed off. A tall, blonde haired man stepped out of the blinding darkness.
"Pardon my assistant. He still doesn't know any manners. My name is Kank. What is your name?" Kank asked calmly.
"What do you want with me?" Omar almost shouted.
"Listen, son. In case you didn't get Chase's...painful message, I ask the questions here. Now, what is your name?" Kank asked more assertively.
"Omar."
"Interesting name. Are you a vampire by any chance?"
Onar was silent. "Very well. If you won't tell us, we'll check ourselves. Open is mouth," Kank instructed.
Two vampires tried to open his mouth, but couldn't. Omar quickly pulled out a hidden wooden stake from his pocket and stabbed the vampire to his right in the chest. The vampire staggered back and fell to the floor, dead. Kank reacted quickly by injecting liquid silver into Omar's blood.
"It didn't have to be this way. You didn't have to love Cordelia. You should've dumped her. She's a tough girl. You could've found one of your own and lived happily ever after, but no. You stuck with her. Truth is, once she found out you were a werewolf, she hated you," Kank told Omar.
"That's...not true," Omar managed to say.
"Too bad you'll never be able to live life to the fullest. Cordelia will find someone else and move on, but you won't," Kank taunted.
"You can't control...anyone's life," Omar said with a final breath, then he died.
Kank grinned evilly. "Drag Ash's body away and put Omar on the road with the needle in his hand," he ordered.
Everyone got to work right away.

"What's taking him so long? I better go check on him," Cordelia said to herself.
She went into the woods. She stopped when she saw Omar on the ground, dead. For a moment she just stared. Then, she fell to her knees and began to cry.
"Why, Omar?" she sobbed. She kissed him on last time before heading home.
"What's troubling you?" Levana asked when Cordelia got home.
"Leave me alone," Cordelia replied.
Levana grabbed her wrist. "Listen here, young lady. That is no way to talk to me," she scolded.
"Leave me alone, ok!? I'm not in the mood to talk," Cordelia replied.
"Lay off the girl, will you?" Kank stepped up.
"Since when are you on her side?" Levana asked, annoyed.
Kank gave her the "Remember?" look. Levana sighed. "Get out of here," she said calmly, pointing upstairs. Cordelia ran up to her room.
"Omar would never kill himself. Mom and dad must've found out! Well, if he can't live, then neither can I," Cordelia said to herself.
She opened the box that she had hid under her bed. Inside was a wooden stake. She put it in her pocket, opened the window, and climbed out. Cordelia travelled back to Omar. When she got to him, she stopped.
"Well, this is the last time I'll ever see the world, but at least I'll be with Omar. Goodbye, world," Cordelia said.
With a shaky hand, she stabbed the wooden stake into her heart. Instantly, she collapsed onto Omar, dead.
Later that night, the werewolves discovered Omar and Cordelia. Howls of sadness filled the air. The leaders of both sides were there.
"They've discovered him. I must go see this for myself," Kank said. "I'm coming too!" Levana added.
"What's going on?" Brendon asked groggily as he came downstairs. "Nothing we can't handle. Go back to bed," Kank said. Brendon went back upstairs obediently.
When they got there, Kank and Levana saw Cordelia dead. The vampire leader and the werewolf leader were shaking hands.
"They're...friends? That's not right!" Levana whispered.
"Agreed. Let's move away. That way, we won't have to be friends with those creatures," Kank suggested.
Levana nodded and they went back to the house, unnoticed. Kank woke up Brendon. They packed quickly and left right away.
