The Quest of the Chosen
(By the way, the image above has nothing to do with this- I'm just obssessed with Trollhunters)
This is a map I made of where the story is set. All the places are fictional and (sadly) thought of by me and me alone.
Kaia's PoV:
I was nervous. No, scratch that: I was terrified. The reason being? Today was the day that would change my life forever- for better, or for worst. Today was the Quest of the Chosen.
Sorry, perhaps I am going too fast. Let me introduce myself: I am Kaia Cerala and I am fifteen summers old. I have black hair (that I wear in a single braid) and purple eyes like my father, Hord Cerala. Ever since I was born, I had lived in the country of Biyuna my entire life. But that would change in an hour.
You may be wondering what the Quest of the Chosen is. You see, every ten years in Biyuna, one person is selected out the most apt to venture through enemy lands in order to locate the source of all life in Biyuna: the Chaos flower. Without it, all life would fade away and our people would never be heard of again. That meant going through the Nilian Ocean, through Lareon (which was where the toughest soldiers were) and to the highes of the Homiride Mountains, which should be Mount Forsale.
Anyway, I should carry on with the story. We were currently in the ceremonial hall, where my family would see me off. I glanced at my mother, Inara. Her lips were tightly pursed and her green eyes were fixed directly in front of us. The night prior, she had had a terrible argumant with my father about whether I should go or not, and she was still sour.
Suddenly, a bell rang and Sir Callum, who was both my trainer and in charge of the Quest, called out, "Now please may Kaia Cerala come to the front?"
On trembling knees, I stood up. I had only just realised how many people were in the ceremonial hall, and each one of them stared at me, their eyes burning through me. When I got to the front, Sir Callum leaned down.
"Good luck," he whispered, "You've been training for this your entire life- it's going to go perfectly. Stand strong."
I gulped, and nodded. Sir Callum straightened and faced everyone. "Today Kaia will undergo the Quest of the Chosen. It has been deemed by the gods that she is destined for this and I promise each and every one of you she will be the bringer of light here in Biyuna."
Everyone began to clap, and suddenly a wave of terror washed over me. So many people were relying on me- what if I failed? I would just have to watch and learn how it goes.
Sir Callum led me to the entrance, where there were two stone paths: one leading to the rest of the main town, the other leading to the array of mountains that trailed on to the Nilian Ocean. Taking a deep breath, I stepped onto the path.
"Wish me luck." I muttered, words not being able to convey the river of emotions flowing through me.
My father came forward and put a firm hand on my shoulder. "Goodbye Kaia, and may you be ever successful."
And with that, he walked awayand I was left to begin the journey that would either bring me eternal glory, or a painful death.
I began to walk.

I had been ambling leisurely, wondering when I would reach the bank of the Nilian ocean, when out of nowhere there was a loud crack and to my utmost horror a gargantuan spider cpvered in black fur materialised in front of me. Resisting the urge to scream, I stepped back and drew out my sword from its sheath.
For centuries, the spiders and humans had been at war. You may think, how can they possibly be harmful? but these ones are different to the normal ones you find on your planet. The spiders here are around the size of one's torso and twice as wide. They are ruthless killers, with venom oozing from their fanged teeth that could kill you in minutes. The only reason they hadn't attacked us was because last year, my father (who is in charge of wars in Biyuna) agreed to a deal: if they didn't attack us, we wouldn't attack them. But as soon as you left Biyuna, they would come for you.
I kept my sword poised in front of me, waiting for it to make its move. Suddenly, the spider lashed out with one its legs, and I just managed to duck underneath it. I stabbed at it with my sword but it dodged it with alarming speed, hissing maliciously.
It would have to take more than a weapon to defeat this spider.
