The Mix Up

There once lived a handsome prince in a faraway land. He was beloved by his people and respected amongst other noblemen because of his exquisite swordsmanship and perfected image. Now there was a slight issue with his image. This prince was destined to become a great king of their mighty kingdom, Alvaria, yet he lacked one key element. Every king needs a queen. It was a must. Yet out of all the princesses available to him, he found that they were all lacking in areas.

The first one couldn't talk. He wasn't against people that couldn't talk, except that this one couldn't talk because she was simply a child, wrapped in swaddling clothes and all. Well, you wouldn't expect him to marry a baby, would you? Absolutely not.

The second one was even worse. She knew how to talk, but couldn't, in fear of passing out because of exhaustion. That was because she was 102 years old! He wouldn't marry someone more than 80 years older than him, for obvious reasons. It would ruin his perfected image, and he desperately needed an heir or his kingdom would fall! So the second choice was out.

But just then, a young servant whom his father and he trusted very well came in with splendid news. He had heard of a beautiful princess locked away in a high tower far away. After hearing this great news, the prince hurried to prepare his mighty white stallion and raced through the night in search of this lovely princess whom he will soon be wed to.

He rode for days and nights without end. He rode through sandstorms, blizzards, tsunamis, and tornadoes. He rode through 15 countries and by the time he had gotten there, he was exhausted. So instead of going on dates with her and getting to know her, he would meet her now and they'd ride together into the sunset.

The tower was large enough to be a problem for this prince who never had to climb places in Alvaria, much less climb a three story tower. He decided to use two long swords to help him get up. Once he was up high enough, he pulled himself up to the tower's opening and inspected the inside of the tower.

It was dark and foreboding with its dark wallpaper and creaky floor. In the middle of the room was a chair. There sat a girl with blond hair. He could only see her back, but was already entranced. When he turned the chair around, he gasped.

The girl's face was littered with moles, wrinkles, and hair. He screamed, but the girl only raised an eyebrow and then smiled.

"It's you! Smoochy poo! You've come to rescue me!"

It was his turn to raise an eyebrow.

"What? I'm a princess! Take me with you!"

He didn't have a choice, he'd already arranged the wedding, so he reluctantly took her hand and started to walk out when he heard a bang. The closet door rumbled and he heard a muffled scream.

"What's that?" He asked the woman/girl/donkey/witch/ugly child?.

"Nothing." she said quickly and rushed out the door, dragging the prince with her.

"And they lived unhappily ever after." Her grandfather said.

The little girl stomped her feet.

"That's not how it goes grandpa!"

He only chuckled.

"Of course it is. It says it right here-"

"No. No. NO! He marries a pretty pretty princess, not that ugly girl!"

He smiles, "But the pretty girl was locked up in the closet, so he couldn't have married her!"

And that's the story of how Rapunzel got tricked and trapped in a closet while her stepmother married the prince she was supposed to marry. The end.
