Ray was alone. He was in the dark next to a small house. He could hear the wind howling and ruffling the tree leaves. It was so cold, and the fire-light coming from the little house sounded more and more tempting. He took a small step forward then stopped. "Under no circumstances, don't enter the house." he remembered the words Shirley had spoken before leaving him to go and find a Healer for his wound. He could still feel the throbbing pain in his right arm, and his blood-loss was making him feel dizzier by the second. He stumbled forward, muttered something under his breath and entered the cottage.
Suddenly, a flock of bats flied down onto him. He could feel their rough wings scratching his cheeks so he lifted his valid left arm to cover his face. He fell onto the floor, screaming. He stayed down for a few minutes before shakily standing up again. He heard a loud bang behind him so he swirled around to see what had happened. The door was shut.
He looked at the room around him : all the plants had died a long time ago but the portraits on the walls hadn't collected any dust ! "How strange..." he thought, as he walked slowly towards the next door. To his great surprise, it opened even before he could even touch it. A slow, melancholic music started playing on the piano in the middle of the room in front of him. He rushed towards it to see the piano player, but the keys were moving by themselves....
"Is s-someone t-there ?" he asked as bravely as he could. Only the creaking of the window answered him, as well as the soft melody. This house was starting to scare him. He looked around him and saw a young girl wearing a white dress. The dress was torn at the edge, but it still looked sparkling clean. She had long raven black har, and cloudy grey eyes. She was sitting on the couch as if she was waiting for someone to wake her up. Her eyes were open, but she wasn't looking at anything and she wasn't moving. She looked like she was glowing and white smoke was floating around her. "H-hey....are you okay ?" he whispered. She didn't answer, so he walked up to her and lightly touched her shoulder.
Suddenly, she jerked up and shrieked. She looked up at him, terrified at the blood on his shirt. "W-who are you ? What are you doing here ? Why do you have blood everywhere ?" she panicked. "Umm... I'm Ray. Sorry to scare you..." he answered cautiously. He wasn't quite sure what to think, even more do, about her. She had stopped shining, but the light fog, a sign of the broken spell, still remained surrounding her. "We have to get out of here! Quick!" she ran to the door. She grabbed the door handle and tried to open it. "W-we're locked in!" she cried as her face paled.
Suddenly, they heard the creaking of the floor boards on the other side of the door : someone was coming! The door handle moved and then the door opened, revealing a red-eyed black-haired dwarf, carrying an axe. He roared menacingly before running towards them. Ray grabbed the closest thing to him, which happened to be a flower vase and swung it at the creature's head. He then quickly caught the girl's hand and ran for the door. She kicked it open, and threw a skeleton carrying a whip out of the way. Together they felt strong, and ran out of the house as fast as possible.
