Weekly Wattpad Contest #54 Story

This is my entry for Weekly Wattpad contest #54.

I want to give up. Everything in my body hurts and my brain is telling me to stop going. Although I know that if I do that, then I won't survive this and there would be no going back. As I look down at the floor, I see the emerald green grass in between my toes and brushing against my skin. It's nice to feel nature again after so long, but I know it won't be here for long. Now I know what you are thinking. What's going on? What does she mean nature won't be here for long? The answer is that the world is slowly ending. The volcanoes are getting hotter and are erupting quicker, causing more lava to melt the earth away until there is ... nothing left! There is one place on earth that is a safe place and that is where I'm going. It's somewhere that is going to transport everyone on earth to a enormous satellite in space that can provide us with somewhere to live until it is safe to live somewhere else. Not focusing on what I am doing, I stumble down a ledge and collapse onto the hard, dirty and uncomfortable floor. Falling over the ground and hitting my body against the floor and rocks, my body aches even more. I raise my hand to my head to touch my forehead. There was blood. I stood up and feeling a bit dizzy, I could see a stunning view in the distance. It was the safe place. I knew I was going to be okay.

In front of me, stood a piece of land with little buildings with people that look like soldiers standing inside, giving people equipment. Some of the equipment were guns and others were supplies like food and water. On the right hand side, the soldiers were giving people a different stamp to show they were allowed on. Quickly, I ran to one of the huts and asked the solider what to do, but he didn't speak. I looked him up and down to have a better look at him. He had a brown hair and a stern face and I could tell he wasn't someone to be messed with as his top gripped onto his muscles and showed the amount of strength he had. I looked up at him again and asked, "if your not going to talk to me then I'll ask someone else, but let me remind you that this is a matter of life and death so I suggest you hurry up with your answer." The man raised his eyebrows and his blue eyes pieces through me and sent shivers down my spine. I felt scared of him as my confidence slowly slipped away, but I also felt safe around him as he wasn't looking at me in a angry way but more a 'I'm sorry' way. The man pointed to someone on the right side and I knew I had to get a stamp on my arm first. Walking over, I sat down and they picked up a different stamper and pressed it into my arms. It burned like the lava out of volcanoes but I knew I had to be strong and brave. Showing fear would be a weakness and to survive in this world, that wasn't a option. After that, I went to get a gun and some supplies before going into one of the space crafts. It was crowded and everyone was sweaty. You couldn't move without touching someone else, but I managed to find a space that was near the window. I sat down and slowly fell into a deep and dark sleep as exhaustion washed over me.

When I woke up, everything was coming into focus and people were talking as they pointed to the window. Standing up, I looked outside and I thought my eyes were deceiving me. Through the window, there was the earth. The blue and green patches mixed perfectly with one another and it looked magnificent. The darkness around it didn't hide it's beauty or it's colour and the stars glistened in the night sky. After everything I have been through, I know never to give up on what I want and to fight for what I believe in. This was it. We had really left the earth and I knew there was no going back.
