Burned
The smell of burning people filled my nose. Their screams echoed through the air. I looked to my left to see my friend tied onto an X made out of wood. He looked back at me with his eyes pleading for me to try and help, but I couldn't. I was also tied to a X for a crime I didn't commit. You see, what these people do (that rule this kingdom) is burn other people for crimes they either did or not do all for fun. Although, they like to say it is for justice, but everyone in the kingdom knows it's not. I looked down to the floor and saw the blood from my hands travel down to my feet and drip onto the ground. There was a pool of blood underneath me and I could see my reflection. My brown hair was now damp and turned dark because of the rain. It was beginning to pour it down with rain and the sky was beginning to turn dark. I heard footsteps getting closer to where I was. I looked up and saw a man in front of my friend, holding a torch in his right hand. He was going to die and I would have to watch and listen.
The person stood there, in front of my friend for what seemed like forever. I could hear him pleading and begging for mercy. The man began to laugh and laugh at the man who pleaded for mercy. "Your obviously not very good at dying." That's what the man said to him before he burned him alive. I shouted at him to spare his life, but he didn't listen. Hearing his screams through the fire was like a knife slicing through my flesh. It was horrible, frightening and unbearable. My one and only friend got killed, murdered and I could do nothing to stop it or save him. Then, the man stood in front of me and smiled. It was my turn!
We stared at each other until I said, "Are you going to get on with it or are you just going to stand there and smile?" He laughed and said, "I like you. You're a lot better at dying than he was." I could feel my face turn red and my eyebrows sharpen as my anger took over. Then, I spat at him right on his shoe. He looked down and then said, "Is that the best you can do?" I began to laugh under my breath and say, "I would be able to do a lot more if I weren't tied to a post. Now get on with it unless your going to un tie me." He nodded his head and smiled. He tightened his grip on the wood and placed it on my hand. The fire travelled all along my body. I tried not to scream, but the pain was too horrible for me not to contain it. I let out of roaring scream that shattered the ears of everyone one in the room. Then, everything went dark and I could not hear my screams no more or the laughter of men.
