Winter's Spell Anthology
When you lose someone special, all you have are memories. Pixie Donna has a chance to see her soulmate Dean again after his sacrifice against the giants.
Sweet Dreams
'I'll see you in your dreams.' The last words he ever said to me before disintegrating to dust, a small smile reaching his lips.
I fought hard to save him, chasing the clues and fighting giants my size when he was kidnapped. Now he's gone to the wind, leaving a colorful dream catcher behind.
Why Dean? After everything we've been through you gave up, drinking the last bit of poison to save me. I wanted to save you this time but I failed. We were supposed to persevere and live together forever flying as pixies. The tears couldn't stop streaming down my cheeks, hysterical I'm all alone since his sacrifice made everyone disintegrate when Dean drank it. I felt like someone kicked me in my chest, air knocked out of my lungs. I gathered the ashes in my palms, still warm to the touch and I placed it in a vial from my pocket, dusting off my dress and left the forest.

Dean not being by my side to rock me to sleep whenever I had nightmares is one of the worst things ever. It's been a week of it, he dark circles around my eyes have deepened. I know its me being dependent but his beautiful voice as he sang to me was soothing.
Sitting up I pulled out the dreamcatcher and ashes of Dean from the drawer, the soft feathers I wound it around my fingertips, strings intricate around the circle seemed cold to the touch. A stray tear released from the corner of my eye, "I miss you so much," I whispered to the vial. Wind blowing across the sheets in my room, I didn't leave the window open. Looking up I'm not inside my cozy apartment anymore, the sky is crisp and clear as snowflakes fell, the breeze is cold and inviting.
Standing from my bed the snow crunched between my toes, the area is unfamiliar. A calming effect happening in my heart, seeing a shadowed figure near a tree at the distance. "Hello?!" I shouted to them. No response. They start walking toward me but I wasn't afraid or nervous. It's a man. Broad shouldered and tall, low cut hairstyle his face revealed as he got closer. "Dean," I breathed out. Shock and happiness filled me seeing his grey eyes again. I ran to him but halted "Are you real? Is this where you ended up?" I questioned.
"I'm dead babe." He answered in a soft voice. Hope faded from me and my shoulders sagged.
"Then what is this place?"
"Where you can always meet me when you're sad." Approaching him with tentative steps, my hand reaching to touch his arm. His body hard, air arm raised from the cold. I take my chance and hugged him tight, my arms around his neck his around my waist.
We held each for as long as we could, he kissed my temple muttering "its ok" and "you're brave" in my ear. Singing softly we swayed against the wind. Walking in the snow holding hands and stealing kisses in the quiet storm, whatever this place was it's paradise to us.
"It's time for me to go."
"I don't want you to go," I weeped at the crook of his shoulder.
"I know Donna. I'm not really gone, you always have me in your heart."
"Can it be enough?"
"Absolutely." If only I had the spell to bring him back to earth with me but I knew the consequences ever learning it.
"Why did you have to leave?"
"It was the only way to end it. Pixies can finally roam free without danger."
"How can I roam without my soulmate?"
"The dreamcatcher."
"What do you mean?"
"I left that dreamcatcher for you. All you have to do is hang it over your bed, keep my ashes close and you can see me anytime," he explained it like it was easy. I want him near me everyday. Meeting his face, he brushed away my tears off my cheeks.
"Don't cry. Anywhere you are I'm here next to you. I love you Donna."
"I love you too," leaning in our lips meet in a soft kiss. I savored the moment, bottling it forever I don't want to open my eyes.
We parted from each other, "I'll see you in your dreams," he whispered again. My eyes open slowly and I'm back in my room, on my bed. Crying softly I snuggled in the sheets, a smile creeped on my lips content and jovial. "I'll see you Dean," I whispered to the vial on the night stand shutting my eyes close for a deep sweet sleep.
