{Silver's Pov}

Me, Shadow and Knuckles were called by sonic for back up in one of his latest battles against Eggman

When we arrived we saw Sonic looking down at the ground and chucks of metal everywhere, I noticed we were near a cliff with waves crashing into the rock surface

" Faker, what the hell, why did you call if you didn't need our help " shadow growled, sonic looked up to see us

But my eyes widen as I saw tears in his eyes, there was also lots of blood flowing from a wound on his stomach

" Sonic are you ok " Knuckles said as he walked towards him, but Sonic just moved away towards the cliff edge

He didn't stop until he was on the edge, I saw him look down and did the one thing that none of us were ready for, he took another step back and fell, I thought quickly and used my telekinesis to lift him back up and away from the edge

" what were you thinking " I said as my heart broke, I haven't told him or Shadow and Knuckles that I see them as family

" I-I need to go " he said and ran off towards the forest before any of us could stop him

I blinked and was about to go after him when I felt someone grab my wrist

" leave him Be for the moment, plus this fell out of his quills " Shadow stated, as he held a book in his hands

" but he just tried to kill himself and the fact that he has a wound that is still bleeding, we need to go after him " I yelled as tears slid down my cheeks

" I know, but shadow is right, we need to find out what is wrong before we can help him " Knuckles said as a shadow clouded his eyes

" fine, pass it here " shadow handed it to me, I look closer and see faded golden letters, I could just make it out

It said 'have hope, sonny' I wonder what it means, I open the first page and see the same handwriting 'I know your hurting and your not ready to tell me, but I thought this book could help, write what ever is on your mind, and remember I'm always here for you ~Uncle Chuck'' I read aloud, I looked  at Shadow and Knuckles to see the same expression I have, shock

Shadow took the book from my hands and skimmed through a few pages before pausing and handing it to knuckles, telling him to read it aloud

'Entry 97

My uncle gave me this book about four months ago, my birthday was yesterday, I'm now 9 and I still don't feel comfortable about telling him about what happened that day, I feel useless, I don't deserve to be taken care of, it's my fault there gone

Whenever I apologise to him, he says it's not my fault my parents are dead, I know I shouldn't blame myself but it's all I can do, I'm no longer the hedgehog I used to be, all I am is someone with no parents, living with only my uncle left

~sonic' knuckles said, the look him his eyes  was enough to make my cry even worse, Shadow was quite and I saw tears streaming down his face, knuckles handed the book to me once again

I flipped through some of the pages, the one I landed on, I had skimmed through and it shattered my heart

'Entry 2581

I'm 16 now, it's been about 11 and a half years since my parents died and 4 since my uncle was shot in the head by Ivo, his lab partner until he betrayed my uncle

I had only just gotten better when it happened, and I know your probably thinking I'm out for revenge, but really I just don't want anyone to suffer like I did

My friends rely on me, and sometimes it gets to much and I have to run from them, I run from my problems and I don't want them to think I'm out for blood, when really I don't want to be here on this planet

I don't know how many times I've tried to end it, I go straight into battle without a plan on purpose, because I want the pain to end, but when I see the look of hope in the eyes of those who look up to me

I have no choice but to fight for not only my life but theirs as well, I haven't told anyone this but I look up to Shadow, Silver and Knuckles as the last family I have and I know they won't return the feeling

I never even wanted to be a hero, I wanted to do the same job as my farther, he was an archaeologist, I've always been fascinated with the emeralds and the time stones

But I guess fate had it against me, I'm hollow inside, I put a fake smile on every single second of every single day and it hurts to hide my feelings but it's the way it has to be

~Sonic' this hurt more than any bullet of weapon could cause and without thinking I ran in the direction sonic went in, I heard shadow and knuckles following

I called out his name but got no response, this time Shadow and Knuckles joined in, about half an hour later we heard an explosion in the east

We ran in that direction only to find Eggman and a battalion of robots surrounding Sonic, he was covered in blood and it looked like he had several broken bones

" oh, it's so nice of you all to finally arrive, well I should admit seeming there's no point in hiding it anymore, I'm a murderer that has gotten away with killing the most famous family in history, isn't that right Rodent " he grinned

" what the hell is this about " shadow yelled in anger

" hahaha, his parents were war heroes along with his petty uncle and he is just a weakling, just before you lot turned up I explained I had killed his parents in that fire when he was 5, and the fact that he kept it to himself made it better " the egg shaped man bellowed out

" SHUT UP!! YOU DID THIS AND YOU WONDERED WHY I-I BEGGED FOR MORE PAIN WHEN YOU HAD ME CAPTIVE IN THE DEATH EGG " I heard sonic yell in anger as tears flowed like a river down his cheeks and as more blood dripped on the ground at his feet, it shocked me and the others to find that he wanted all that torture

" LEAVE HIM ALONE EGGMAN " Knuckles yelled and punched several robots destroying them instantly

Shadow started chaos spearing more robots, Eggman growled and fired missiles towards me and Sonic, he hadn't moved at all even when he yelled at Ivo, I put up a sheald in front of Sonic and I dodged the ones aimed for me

I go to Sonic and see it's much worse than I first thought, suddenly he collapsed and stated coughing out blood

" I WILL GET YOU RODENTS IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO " Eggman yelled as he fled

Knuckles and Shadow ran to me and Sonic, they stopped when they saw all the blood

" hold on sonic " I heard Shadow say, sonic was lifted out of my arms by knuckles

Shadow pulled out his emerald and chaos controlled us to the hospital

{Shadows pov}

I could feel his life being taken from his body, his chaos energy is depleting and fast, we arrived at the hospital and paramedics surrounded us in minutes

A hospital bed was brought out and knuckles was told to lay him down on it, he was then rushed to emergency, we were told to wait in the waiting room

I never thought I'd see him like this I didn't think it was possible, he's hurt, he watched his family Be murdered by the doctor, and he was willing to end in every battle

" do you think he will make it " I heard the Echidna say

" I-i don't know " pot head replied

" but it doesn't change the fact that he's hurt, or that he was ready to kill himself by jumping off that cliff " I said with as little emotion I could, but I failed because worry laced my voice as I spoke to the two

We sat in silence for hours, sonic's other friends turned up like that pink brat, soon a doctor came out

" are you all here for Sonic the Hedgehog " he had said we all nodded

" we he's awake and-" he was interrupted by Amy

" can we go see him " she shouted

" he only wants to see Silver, Shadow and Knuckles at the moment " I blinked at what the doctor said, as did everyone else

The three of us stand up and follow the doctor down the hall, we could hear Amy's protests

We stood in front of a door, and entered when the doctor moved aside

" I will be back in an hour " we heard him say

{Knuckles Pov}

I saw Sonic looking out the window, I sit on the end of his bed and he jumps, the look in his eyes shattered my heart

" Sonic can you tell us why you jumped off the cliff " I asked softly, I was hurt because I saw him as family as well

" I-I couldn't deal with the pain anymore " he whispered as tears slid down his cheeks

" but you could of told us you were hurting " silver said as tears were in his eyes

" I c-couldn't " sonic sobbed

Shadow did the unexpected, he hugged Sonic and pet his quills, and he had tears in his eyes, Sonic stiffened at first but then relaxed

Suddenly Amy burst through the door, with her hammer drawn

" what did you do to my soni-kku " she screeched at us, sonic just closed his eyes shut and whimpered into shadow's chest fur

" we didn't do anything Amy and I suggest you leave " I growled, but she pulled out here hammer

" NO, YOU LEAVE HE IS MY BOYFRIEND, I SHOULD BE THE ONE TGAT IS COMFORTING HIM " she yelled, as she swung at me

{Sonic's Pov}

I had my face in Shadow's chest, everything hurt and Amy's yelling only made it worse, I felt sick

" it's ok " I heard Shadow whisper as he hugged me, I felt safe in his grip

" SONIC TELL THEM TO LET ME TAKE CARE OF YOU " she screeched, I felt a warm liquid slowly drop from my ears, I heard Shadow growl, I flinched

I heard the door open and Amy protesting and people yelling at her, I felt something wet touch my ears and I let out a soft whimper

" it's ok we're here, she's not coming back, that's for sure " I heard Silver say, I look up and see blood on him and knuckles, they were being treated by a nurse along with my ears

When the nurses left, they sat in the chairs near the bed I was on, Silver passed me a book and I felt even sicker, I had dropped it when I ran from them, and they read it

" I hate sympathy " I stated and they looked at me

" who said we were being sympathetic " I heard shadow say, then there was an 'ow' heard, I guess someone slapped him

" you still could of told us though, I hate admit it but I see you as a brother sonic, why else do you think I go chasing you around the world instead of watching the Master Emerald like I'm meant to " I heard Knuckles say, tears fell from my eyes, I didn't know whether to be happy or sad

" he's right you know, I would of killed you years ago if I didn't care, in fact I try hard not to smile when you say something like 'oh come shads, let's race' you remind me of Maria " I heard Shadow say, but only enough for me to hear

" and I think you heart is made of gold, you have enough kindness to make even the greatest hedgehog smile, and don't deny it shadow, I've seen you smile at the mention of Sonic once or twice " Silver smirked widely, I started laughing, a real laugh I haven't heard this in years, they look at me then join in also

" I never thought I'd see the day, that your laughter was so sweet " I heard Silver say, suddenly I was pinned to the bed by shadow

" get some sleep you need it " he smiled at me, it was soft and kind, yet a hint of mischief, I closed my eyes, felt him let go, but I pull his wrist

" fine, I'll lay with, but until you fall asleep " he shook his head as I smiled

" and what, we sleep on the chairs while he gets the bed " knuckles huffed, as I nodded with a smirk

" I need to go tell the others your fine and that they can go home " silver laughed

Shadow pulled me down on the bed, I snuggled into his chest and let sleep take hold of my body and my last thought before I went into a blissful sleep was 'I'm not alone and never will be'
