Requested by @NyaChan56 'Hm, you know the, 'Alone Together' story you wrote on here? Can you maybe write a sequel to it? Maybe when they're older, Sonics using the name, well, Sonic. And the blue blur's in a bad time in life, yet Knuckles still is with him, and hasn't abandoned him? Or maybe, you can write Knuckles raising the blue blur and they gain a brotherly bond or a father/son bond through small snippets? Just some ideas'

Knuckles watched as the hedgehog he had rescued sit alone at the recently dug graves that he had put together for Maurice, and he watched silently as tears ran down his eyes as he looked at the engraved stone

he hadn't made him watch as he buried them, but he let him sit there as long as he needed, but he had known the people he had dug graves for, had known them for a long time, and lost contact with them a long time ago

If he had remained in contact, maybe this wouldn't had happened, and maybe they'd still be here for their son and nephew they left behind, but he didn't know who had even done this

so he stood there waiting for when Maurice was ready to leave, he never turned to leave, not once did he think about leaving him alone with those graves he had dug for the family the child had lost, he just stayed, as tears of his own fell

it had been two years since they had met, and since Knuckles started taking care of the child, Maurice was now six and was sitting at the master emeralds alter with Knuckles as he told him about what Chaos energy was

"Chaos energy is embedded into every plant, animal and mobian, it's apart of who we are, some can harness it and use it if they have enough of it running through their veins, others can't, well most can't, but we all have some inside of us" Knuckles explained as Maurice sat next to him listening

"...What...what about humans...?" He asked quietly, Knuckles froze, how did he know about them? when they didn't even live in this part of the planet

"W-well, they don't have chaos energy...but, how do you know about them?" knuckles frown, but his frown deepened when tears began to fall down Maurice's cheeks "Hey, what's wrong?"

"H-he..." Knuckles only frowned more as the blue hedgehog couldn't speak properly as he began to sob into his hands, Knuckles sighed as he pulled him into a tight embrace, it was all he could do to try and comfort the child he was tacking care of

"Shh, it's okay you don't have to tell me..." Knuckles said softly as he held the younger one in his arms as they cried

"Knuckles?" The nine year old hedgehog asked as he stood before the older echidna

"Hmm?" Knuckles asked as he opened one of his eyes to looked at Maurice

"Why...do you still look the same as when...we met...?" Maurice asked softly, as knuckles blinked and sat up

"It's...kind of hard to explain Maurice" Knuckles sighed, Maurice only tilted his head in confusion' "But it's got something to do with the master emerald"

"What do you mean Knuckles?" he asked

"I'm...over 4000 years old...I'm the last echidna alive" Knuckles answered 'Echidnas have always been the protector of the master emerald and Angle Island, i was about your age when i became the guardian" Knuckles sighed, but opened both of his eyes when he felt Maurice hug him, he smiles a little as he hugs back

a few more years had passed and Maurice and Knuckles were sitting in a park with many other mobians, Maurice was grinning as he spoke to his friends, they didn't know of his past though and he didn't plan on sharing it

"Hey Sonic?" A fox asked with a smile

"Yeah bud?" Sonic grinned as he turned to his friend

"How long have you and Knuckles known each other?" the fox asked curiously

"Yeah, I want to know how long you have known Kuxy~" A bat purred seductively

"Oh uhh, a few years" Sonic lied as he grinned in response

"Yeah, he came to my island by accident a yeah before he returned with Tails" Knuckles chuckled as he too lied, he knew that the child he had raised and saw as his own little brother was not ready to share the past

"Hmm, it just seemed like you knew each other longer" The fox shrugged

"Oh Sonikuu! Look! I brought your favourite!" A pink hedgehog smiled as she pulled out a plate of chilli dogs, it made Sonic sick as he only smiled at her

"Thanks Ames!" He smiled as he took them from her, he didn't want to eat them, but it would cause questions he didn't want to answer, it always made him sick when he ate them, because his Mum always made the best ones...and not one could stand up next to hers...there could never be

He smiled as he ate them, hiding the fact he hated this; he just didn't want the questions or to hurt her feelings

Shadow sat over in the shade of a near by tree, watching them silently, he had always found something strange about the younger hedgehog, but he never questioned him, everyone was having a good, time and he didn't want to disturbed their happy moment

But, of course it had, when a few reporters came up to the hill they were on, with papers in their hand and many other things

"Sonic? Do you mind if we ask a few questions?" one of them asked with a smile

"Sure, I don't see any problems with that" Sonic gave them a grin

"Fantastic! Anyways our first question is How long have you been fighting Doctor Eggman?" They asked

"Since i was ten, and i'm sixteen now, so six years" Sonic shrugged with a smirk

"Okay, Question two, Are you and Amy Rose dating? or do you have eyes for someone else?"

"...uhh...Nither" Sonic said nervously

"Question three, Are you familiar with the one of the most famous families in mobias?"

"...Can we skip that question please..." This made everyone look at him, he's never asked that during any interview hes had

"err Sure, question four, Is there a reason why you look like Jules the hedgehog? Or why it's such a coincidence that after he was murdered along with his wife and brother that his son went missing? And how and why you suddenly appeared out of no wear without any information beside age and name?"

"..." Sonic stayed silent, while fighting the urge to yell at them and leave him alone, everyone was silent also, Knuckles grew concerned and knew this wasn't going to end well

"Sonic?" The reporter rose a brow, waiting for an answer

"i'm not answering any more questions...." was the last thing Sonic said before he stood and left, leaving everyone confused, except for the person who raised him who only frowned as he watched the hedgehog run off

"Sonic?" Knuckles frowned as he walked towards the alter seeing the younger hedgehog in tears as he covered his face

"I-i" He trembled as he felt Knuckles put his hand on his shoulder

"It's okay..." Knuckles sighed

"Is it?...." Sonic asked as he looked up at Knuckles

"...." Knuckles could only frown as he saw the same emptiness from when he first opened his eyes after the accident

"That's what i thought..." Sonic said as he looked back down at his lap and let the tears roll down "I didn't want to answer those questions..."

"You didn't have to" Knuckles answered "You always have a choice to answer or not Maurice"

"...." Maurice only stayed quiet as he cried silently

"Everyone will turn out fine" The echidna sighed

"Will it? I mean everyone's going to ask why I didn't answer the questions, they don't know when to back off" Maurice stared bitterly

"Well they'll have to deal with me" Knuckles grinned "after all your practically my little brother"

Maurice let out a small laugh "I'm not little"

"Yeah you are! Your a tiny little hedgehog" Knuckles Chuckled

"Your mean" Maurice huffed as he then continued laughing as he wiped his tears

"Your parents would be proud Maurice" Knuckles let out a soft chuckle as he smiled at the teenage hedgehog

"...you think so...?" he mumbled softly

"I know so, because despite what happened you still help people, and just like your parents you never stop doing what's right" Knuckles replied "Your parents and your uncle would be proud of you Maurice, no matter what they love you"

Maurice let a small smile come to his muzzle as he hugged the older echidna, who hugged back, the two stayed like this even as the sun set and the moon rose

But neither aware of the red eyes that watched them
