I wish I it was me instead of him....

I sat by a small stream, it had been a week since Cheese drowned in the rushing rapids....

Everyone said it wasn't my fault...but it is my fault he's gone! It should have been me! Not him! Why did it have to be him!?!?

I cried as I stared at the stream, I would drown myself, but it was not wide nor deep enough...

So I sat here and cried for hours, until I could cry no more

"Cream!" I heard someone shout my name, but I paid no attention to it as I stared blankly at the water

I heard footsteps heading towards me, but I did not turn to see who's

"Cream...your mother has been worried sick.." I heard Mister Sonic say

I didn't reply, I heard him sigh and heard leaves russle, he must have sat down...

"Is this about what happened?" He asked quietly, it was a tone I had never heard come from him

I nodded as new tears fell, I felt him hug me and I remained quiet

"Look it isn't your fault... things like this happen to the best of us, to the most innocent, but you shouldn't blame yourself" Mister Sonic sighed

"How do you know?" My voice cracked

"Something like this happened to me...a long time ago, I blamed myself and it changed me, in reality I'm not cocky or happy, it was because I didn't stop blaming myself and I don't want you to have to fake a smile to show people your happy" Mister Sonic sighed, that's when I looked up at him

He was smiling, but it wasn't his usual smile, it was a broken smile...

"What do you mean?"I asked as tears fell

"My parents died, and I believed it was because of me, but it wasn't" Mister Sonic sighed

"Will the pain ever go away?" I asked quietly

"No...no matter what you do, it will always be there, but it does get dinner and dimmer over time, just think of the happy, the sad, the good and the bad memories with him and he will never be forgotten and you will always have a piece of him" Mister Sonic smiled at me, it was small and broken...I looked away and back at the small stream

"I'll always be here for you...so will everyone else, I promise" Mister Sonic stated, I nodded

We sat here for what felt like hours, before I slowly drifted off to sleep, the last thing I see is the small stream slowly fading away

And I dream of the times I had with Cheese, before he passed, the times we had tea parties, the times we had backed with mother, the times we had been kidnapped and rescued and the times we played together

I miss you Cheese....
