Yells were heard from the house at the end of the street, the neighbours and the passer byers ignored it and went about their business, but the two that were arguing had been together for two years, it was a normal thing that they argued, but this time it was getting out of hand.

"Why don't you ever listen?!" Shadow snapped as he glared at the other

"It's you who never listens!" Sonic yelled back as he threw his hands in the air "All I ever do is cook, clean, and sit at home all day! So why can't i just go out with my friends for once?!"

"So my company isn't good enough for you?!" 

"Not when your at work all day and your always home late, and you leave early in the morning! And on your days off your always doing something with your friends and even then you never take me with you!"

"I wonder why?! All you do is complain!"

"Complain?! How can I not complain when I'm in this damn house twenty four seven! All I have to do is clean, cook and read! You never let me do a fucking this with my friends and you never let me visit my brothers! It always has to be your way!"

"There you go changing the subject again! Why can't you be happy with what you fucking have?!"

"What I have?! What about what you have?!"

The argument between the two hedgehogs got more and more heated, but the more and more they yelled at each other Sonic realised more and more that Shadow didn't care about him, he was just a prize that he wanted...a replacement for the person he lost, so he went quiet as Shadow continued yelling at him, as tears fell down his peach cheeks, but soon enough Shadow stopped as he panted softly as he glared at the other

"We're over..." Sonic spoke as he looked at Shadow, his expression went from a glare to shock

"Your joking right?" Shadow laughed, but it had an unfamiliar edge to it, it scared the younger one 

"We're. Over" Sonic repeated as he went to pack his things and leave

"You can't just leave me over a meaningless argument!" Shadow snapped

"It wasn't meaningless! And who says that's why I'm breaking up with you asshole!"

"Then why the fuck are you breaking up with me?!"

"You treat me like shit! You never let me do anything! So I'm packing my shit and I'm leaving!"

"You'll come crawling back to me eventually! But guess what?! Your useless!< Your nothing! And I wish you never existed!" Shadow yelled as Sonic packed whatever he could grab and walked straight past Shadow, and paused at the front door

"Well there's something we can agree on Shadow...I wish I never existed either...." then he slammed the door behind him while Shadow was left alone in the house they had shared

Sonic walked in the streets in the night as he cried, he loved Shadow and that was the only reason he stayed for so long...he didn't know where he was going, but he knew he couldn't stay out here, so he hoped that they still lived in the same house they had when he moved out...His relationship with his brothers weren't the best...but it was the only place he could go...

So he walked in the dark to the house he lived in with his brothers until Shadow wanted them to live together, eventually he was walking down the path that lead to the front door of the three bedroom house, when he reached the door, the lights were on and he hesitated...was this really a good idea?... Should he just turn and walk away? and stay out of their lives entirely...? He wiped his eyes as he turned to walk away, but the front door opened and he heard a sigh as he stopped and his ears lowered

"I thought you knew that there's a camera that notifies me when someone walks through the fence Sonic" Zonic sighed as he shook his head as he leaned against the door frame "Are you going to turn around and come inside or are you just going to leave again?"

"If I came in, I'd just cause trouble for you..." Sonic mumbled, as he glanced toward his older brother, who frowned when he heard that, but it deepened when he saw the tear stained cheeks

"What happened?" Zonic asked as he walked over to the youngest of the tree of them 

"Me and...Shadow broke up..." Sonic stated as he wiped his eyes, as he gave a smile to the other

"I see..." Zonic mumbled

"I guess I should have listened to you and Scourge when you said he was just using me...But I..." Sonic couldn't finish his sentence as he had to wipe his eyes again as he tried to keep smiling

"You don't have anywhere to stay do you?" Zonic asked Sonic only shook his head as he wiped his eyes

"I-Its fine though, I can just find somewhere to stay" Sonic smiled, Zonic only frowned, did he really think he wasn't welcome?

"Your not walking around this late at night" Zonic shook his head "Come inside, it's still your house too"

Sonic didn't have a chance to reply as Zonic took him inside anyways, the place hadn't changed that much, but there were new pictures on the walls, and it just made him feel more and more out of place in a home he'd grown up in, yet still Zonic let him in after he'd run off on a wild fantasy that was truly a one sided love story that left him hurt 

he was silent as he followed along hesitantly, he had no idea what Scourge would say...or how he would react to seeing him at all for that matter...it had been two years since he's really spoken to anyone besides Shadow, he wouldn't be surprised if people hated him for what happened

"Zonic what was all that abou-" A voice that was unfamiliar paused as Zonic and him stopped and he saw a taller white hedgehog standing there looking at him with a raised brow

"Zilver, this is my brother Sonic" Zonic introduced the smaller blue hedgehog to the what hedgehog Zilver "Sonic, this is...My boyfriend Zilver"

"Oh, Well it's nice to finally meet him" Zilver smiled and Sonic watched and his brother's cheeks went red a little and he nodded silently 

"Your rooms still the same if you want to go up there" Zonic said as he glanced at his youngest brother

"Yeah....' Sonic mumbled as he left the two alone as he went upstairs and into his old room, true to Zonic's words it was still the same, save for the few things he'd taken with him two years ago, he looked around and felt empty seeing it, he always had...

"I thought you said you didn't want to see him again?" Zilver said quietly to the other who shook their head with a sigh

"That may be so...but...he's still my responsibility..." Zonic sighed

Soon the two went to bed and Scourge came home annoyed and went straight to be, not even aware his younger brother was in the room next to him, Sonic just sat leaning against the door awake , staring at the dark walls, he didn't know why he came back...And he didn't know why he felt some comfort in being in this room, even though he knew what would happen in the morning

Zonic was in the kitchen that morning cooking breakfast, while Zilver had left to get more milk and Scourge sat at the kitchen table silently taking note of how quite it was, while Sonic walked down the stairs silently and paused as the entrance of the kitchen before going to go back to his 'room' but stopped when he heard Zonic speak

"You know....Sonic came back last night" was what the oldest said, it caught Scourge's attention with a glare

"let me guess his 'boyfriend' broke up with him" Scourge scoffed

"I don't know what happened" Zonic stated "All i know is that he was walking in the front yard before stopping and going to walk back out"

"Well did he?" Scourge muttered

"I went out there and brought him in, he went to his room after meeting Zilver"

"It would have been better if you let him walk off" Scourge rolled his eyes

"look he's my responsibility remember, Mum and Dad made me promise them that i'd take care of both of you" Zonic shot a glare  at his brother

"and didn't you say you were glad that he left?" Scourge stated as Sonic listened, he didn't find any of this as a surprise, but he still felt hurt

"Scourge....look I Know you don't get along with him, but i'm only doing what Mum and Dad asked me to do, if i had a choice in this i would have let him leave, besides he's always getting into trouble that we have to get him out of" That was what ended their conversation as Sonic stood their silently before going back upstairs and getting his things, and left a note before he walked down stairs quietly and went to the front door, not bothering to say goodbye to his...brothers...

he left the frond yard knowing that Zonic would get a notification of his departure, he didn't really care since he knew from the beginning neither of them wanted him there, she he walked around town a while, but he was stopped when Shadow pulled the car up next to him with a knowing smile, so Sonic just looked at him with a blank expression and kept walking, he wanted nothing to do with Shadow any longer, even though he wanted to be held in his arms, but he couldn't stay, but the other got annoyed and kept trying his best to get the other to come back with him, eventually Sonic gave up and got in the car yet said nothing as the two drove off

"Scourge can you go get him without throwing a hissy fit" Zonic muttered as he set plates of food down on the table, Scourge scoffed but stood and went up stairs and headed for his younger brother's room, he paused however, he hadn't seen his brother since their argument...Zonic wasn't home at the time, just them two...

he shook his head as he knocked on the door and waited silently as he tapped his foot, after a few minutes he knocked again, yet still received no answer, he scowled as he opened the door and found everything still in place and no sign of his brother ever being here

but that's when over by the empty desk things seemed to be a mess they hadn't been the last time Scourge was in here, a book laid on it, it looked a few years old, but pens and other pieces of stationary sat in a corner of the desk, he went over to it and picked the book up hesitantly and opened to the last page written on, it had scribbles, a small sketch and a page filled with writing, he skimmed through it and he felt his heart sink with every word he read

Alone looking out the window into the sun rising in the sky.

Every moment felt like a never ending loop, one that has no beginning nor end.

I wanna curl up and cry myself to sleep, and dream of the time I die.

I shall not survive these deprives. 

I guess if your reading this you cam into my 'room' to come and get me I guess, but of course I'm not here, I think we all know that I don't belong here, no matter how you both have tried to convince me I have a place in this house with your family. I guess it's my own fault really, I must have done something wrong and I deserve all this. And Scourge was right, he always is, I should have listened when he told me not to trust Shadow because he was using me, well he was right; the only reason I left despite Scourge telling me not to was because I thought someone actually cared about me, but I should had second guessed myself and him. I don't even know why i made excuses up in the first place, every time i look in the mirror I see someone who is ugly, a mistake, gullible, useless and a mistake. So I guess this is goodbye for good, maybe then I won't be such a burden to anyone like i already am, I doubt they'll even know I'm gone. 

Scourge didn't know how to feel, as he set the book down, not even realising the tears in his eyes as guilt struck him, but he knew it was too late to try and go after him as he took the book with him down stairs and didn't bother to say anything as he tossed the book down onto the table interrupting Zonic and Zilver's conversation, he sat down and just played around with his food, since his appetite was lost

"Wheres-" Zonic was cut off

"Gone..." was all Scourge said "He left the book though....with a note...."

Sonic sat in the house, the walls were covered in pictures that had no link to him, and Shadow sat beside him, and was telling him things he could and could not do, Sonic only nodded absently, he just didn't care anymore, realising no one had or ever will care about him, not that it mattered

"Are you even listening?" Shadow snapped at him

"Why should i when i already know i can't go outside, i can't see my friends or my brothers, dinner has to be made by 10:30, i'm not to go on any mobile devices, i already know all this, you don't need to tell me again" Sonic muttered in response, it made Shadow pause for a second

there was silence for a long moment before Sonic stood and began heading for the stairs, Shadow didn't say anything as the other left, there was a sudden sinking feeling as he sat there

'Maybe i took this too far...' he thought to himself as he didn't bother to go upstairs to the other that was supposedly his 'lover' but later that day he was called in for work leaving Sonic alone in the house, he was in the bathroom when Shadow left and he grabbed only one thing as he went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and locked himself in the bathroom, and looked in the mirror

He was numb to it all as he carved every insult into his flesh and then cut lines through it all, blood pooled onto the floor and he didn't stop as he kept cutting, but the last thing he cut into his skin that was inked crimson was the words 'Broken Inside' 

When Shadow returned that night the house was still and the lights were off, and there was no sign of any movement in the house since hours before and only the faintest of chaos was felt in the house and that sinking feeling only grew inside of him as he followed the faint trail and found himself in front of the locked bathroom door

he knocked on the door but got no answer as he then had the trouble of forcing the door open, it took a few tried of running into it before his opened and he was met with the harsh scent of copper as he gagged and turned the light switch on and he stood there frozen on the spot when he saw Sonic's motionless body on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood and a knife he recognised held loosely in his bloodied hand

Zonic sat in his office filling out reports when one of his partners Vector walked in with a regret and pity

"Sir..." He spoke to get the other's attention

"Hmm?" Zonic hummed in answer

"We got a call last night...There...was an incident..." Vector mumbled

"What was the incident?" Zonic asked

"...Your...brother Sonic...was found dead by his boyfriend in their bathroom last night...he'd...been dead for about 6 hours before his boyfriend got home...I'm Sorry..." Zonic sat still in his chair, he couldn't move as he felt 

he'd failed to care for his youngest brother, he and Scourge both had and now all they had left of him was an empty room and a book filled with every single one of their mistakes that slowly broke him and made him think he meant nothing and it was his own brother's fault for dismissing him as a chore
