Falling.

She was falling, falling, down down down down! She hit the ground with a loud

               thump,

                                 crack,

                                                    b r e a k .

And suddenly,

she wasn't!

Wait.

Wasn't what?

Falling?

She looked at herself, her pale skin now... transparent? Whatever it was, she certainly wasn't falling anymore. Nope, she was still as a brick wall. Then she looked down-

Her feet weren't touching the ground.

She shrieked a bit, and if she could trip, she would have, but she couldn't, she just tumbled backward and backward like she was doing the gymnastics she would always perform when she was younger, and actually, she did it now too, come to think of it-

But nevertheless, she.

Was.

Floating.

Something clicked in her mind, something oh so obvious.

Of course.

Of course of course of course of course.

That witch kid was always talking about this!

After death, you're not dead--well, you are, of course, death is death, no returning from that wholly. But, in this world, at least, when you passed, you became...

A ghost.

She was a ghost.

She had to laugh at the pure absurdity.

A ghost.

Hm. Wonder wonder wonder if her dad was a ghost, hm? It is a possibility.

She heard a few yells, screams. She saw bright bright flashing lights, running people. She could feel the fear in the air, the confusion, it filled her heart with some unfamiliar emotion. She tuned all the noise and sights out and concentrated on these, these feelings.

And then whoosh, a hot, fantastically hot feeling that could only be described as a, a rush flew through her.

She gasped, her eyes flew open and she looked for the cause of the heat, the warmth. Her eyes, her all-seeing, all-knowing ghost eyes fell upon him, the one looking confused, the one with the unforgiving amber eyes, the one who had accidentally walked through her.

Yes, of course, it was him.

He looked to be shivering--didn't the witch kid say walking through a ghost was like walking through freezing rain? It was just the opposite for her. Odd, but not really.

It couldn't have been luck, if it was him who ran into her. It had to be fate.

Yes. Fate. Destiny.

Just as it was hers to die.

"Hi Sam," Yuki whispered to the boy she loved.

Sam didn't hear.

She was a ghost, after all.
