If I Ever Feel Better

In a perfect world this story would never take place. Sadly the world is broken. It is filled with warped minds and shattered hearts. After all, we are only human. Pretty basic start though, guy meets girl. Girl falls for guy. Guy and girl start dating. Simple? Not exactly. I think we can all agree that when life gets complicated, things can get screwed up pretty quickly.

The year was 2020, it was the first day of school for little Angela. She wasn't your average girl. She was a little strange at times and didn't have many friends. Even her best friend Amy went to a different school. Angela was eager to meet new people. She wanted to have a fresh start socially. Little did she know a boy by the name of Jay didn't have a choice in that matter. He had just moved here with no friends, no idea where he was going or what he was doing. Poor Jay was a wandering mess. Lucky for him making friends and meeting new people always came easy to him. In fact, he made his first friend by complimenting them while standing in the lunchroom line up.

"Haha, Thrasher," Jay laughed. "My brother got mad at me once and ripped the sleeves off my Thrasher sweater. Haven't seen one since. Haha, good times!" The boy in front of him turned around to acknowledge.

"Oh really, what'd he get mad at you for?" he replied chuckling at Jay's little anecdote.

"He thought I used his toothbrush. The best part is he was brushing his teeth when he ripped them off!" Jay chuckled, reminiscing about the old house he once lived in.

"Oh my god! Did you?" the young man's eyes were so wide it looked like they could burst.

"Of course not," Jay reassured, "but the dog might have..."

"Oh my god! That is amazing!" the young man erupted with laughter. "Wow! I haven't heard a good story like that in a while. I'm Calvin by the way."

"I'm Jay and it's nothing man. Hey ,wanna get outa here? I think we're holding up the line," he pointed at an impatient young lady standing behind him.

"Oh yeah, sure man, of course." Calvin replied with an unexpected jolt in movement toward the Cafeteria exit.

Angela, was still trying to meet new and exciting people. Sweet charming Angela had been walking around the cafeteria for the entire lunch hour. Unfortunately for her, the longest conversation she had, was with the humble lunch lady. After school Angela called Amy to rant.

"All I wanted was to be an extrovert for once," she pleaded sadly.

"...and with my results you'd think I wasn't even trying. Am I not good enough? Do I give off some type of vibe that says "don't come close! I'll bite your head off and ruin your life!" cuz I don't get it," she complained plopping on her bed.

"You know what," said Amy, "...you just might be right. 'cuz I'm starting to think that you might be ruining my life." Amy could tell Angela was rolling her eyes on the other end.

"Not helping!" Angela's face was flat on her bed, her voice muffled as she spoke.

"Well, I don't know Angela." Amy sighed. "I think you're a wonderful person and that you would make tons of friends at my school." Angela rose up from her bed as soon as she heard the change in Amy's tone. It was almost like Amy had something to tell poor spiralling Angela that would only worsen the current situation.

"How was your first day Amy?" Angela asked overly interested. She knew something was up and was only provoking Amy into telling.

"It was pretty good I guess..." Amy hesitated in finishing her sentence. Angela wasn't about to go along with her sarcasm. Pausing for a moment she said nothing.

"Ok... So I might have met a guy!" Amy said excited to finally be able to tell her best friend about her first experience at high school. "Here we go" Angela thought. She enjoyed talking about guys with Amy. However, Angela felt like she never had boys to talk about. The gossip continued until Amy had to go for dinner.

Once her friend was gone, Angela could finally relax. She laid on her bed quietly reflecting on her day. Drifting off into a comforting sleep without changing her clothes. After the day she's had, I don't blame her.

The next morning it was the same old routine for Angela. She got up, got washed, got dressed, brushed her teeth, combed her hair, ate breakfast, and then headed out the door.

Not so far from where Angela lived was Jay's House. Unlike Angela his routine was a completely different story.

Chaos.

Utter Chaos.

Little children running from room to room. Random objects flying through the air. Parents screaming ignored instructions. Absolute craziness everywhere yet surprisingly, Jay makes it out of the house on time every morning. He gets to his driveway and realizes all the cars are gone. "Guess I'm skating to school today" he murmured to himself relieved more then disappointed. He grabbed his Skateboard from the garage. He put his earbuds in. He was eager to get the day over with. "Just one less daytime summer." He thought to himself. "It'll be here in no time." Jumping on his skateboard and off he went. On his journey to school he was a little behind on time. He decides to take a short cut.

With a sharp turn they collide. Two bodies on the ground one on her back and the other landing on top. It was an accident waiting to happen.

Angela opened her eyes and shocked. She didn't know what to say. "UH, yuh...your skateboard." She stuttered watching as it rolled away. He looked back and quickly got up to run after it. He stopped, turned back and decided to help her get up. Extending his hand she took it. Jay was stronger than she expected. When he pulled her up she fell into his arms. Oblivious he lifted her up and ran after his skateboard leaving Angela a little light headed. Dizzy she almost fell over again but before she did Jay had rushed back to make sure she was all right.

"Are you ok?" bracing her with his hands on her shoulders. He almost caught met her gaze while he made her hands steady. When she looked into her eyes she could have sworn she saw a sparkle.

"Uh, Hello?" said Jay waving his hand infront of her face.

"Sorry, Hi...yeah. I think I'm good. She shook her head snapping out of whatever trance she was in.

"I can't believe I just ran into someone." Jay thought to himself. "This is so embarrassing. It just had to be a cute girl too. Didn't it." He questioned.

"I'm Jay," he said gently placing his hand out.

"Angela" She replied taking his hand.

"Hey you got Ajax don't you?" they stood silent, Jay holding Angela's gaze.

"Uh, Yeah, I guess. Is that where you're going? Why are you going that way." She questioned pointing behind her. " The school is in the opposite direction.

"Oh, I don't know really know where I'm going. I'm new here." They started walking toward the school talking about anything and everything under the sun. When they arrived Angela realized something. Something really important. She had made a friend.

She felt a new energy. A serge she had not felt in a long time. She was excited to have something to tell Amy. She was hysterical. Angela had a crush.
