Voodoo Demon Stuff
You know, when you grow up in a house for sixteen years, you think you know everything. After today I think it's safe to say I've done all the exploring I want to. My friends will probably say the same thing. Wait, you don't even know what I'm talking about? Oh, let me tell you. Well, it all started this morning.
I had a strange feeling that today was going to be a great day. I was going to the movies with my friends, Karim and Rebel.
I quickly stripped and allowed water to flow over my body. After finally waking up via shower, I put on my favorite shirt and my favorite clothes. I was all ready to go that I ended up literally jumped down the stairs.
I landed and started walking to the door when I heard something that sounded like distant talking. It couldn't have been my parents because they were both at work. I texting them in the group chat and told them I thought there was a ghost in my house.
About twenty minutes later, Rebel pulled up in her stylin' Mustang convertible. Karim was next to her. They got out and I met them at my house door. Rebel was the first to speak.
"So, you think there's a ghost in your house?" She asked. Before I could answer, Karim spoke up.
"Sounds like BS to me. I don't hear nothing," Karim stated.
"No duh, we're outside," Rebel spoke up.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's check this out," Karim suggested. The door closed behind them.
"Okay, if you stand right here," I checked to make sure I could hear it. "you can hear it."
Karim shoved me to the side and stood around. It took him a couple seconds before he could hear it.
"Holy shiitake mushrooms," Karim was surprised.
"You hear it?" Rebel asked. She shoved him down the stairs. She began moving her head around trying to hear it. Eventually she heard it as well. "So where is it coming from?"
"Heck if I know." I stated.
"What if you have like hollow stairs or a hollow wall?" Rebel asked.
"Do your stairs have a door on the side and you're just being stupid?" Karim began walking around the staircase.
"Maybe. Should we break the stairs to see if there's something behind it?" I asked.
"No. If there's something behind it, then it had to get in somehow," Rebel deducted. "Let's look around for an entrance."
"But what if the noise is coming from a monster like a shapeshifter or a witch that can turn into a cat. It could turn tiny and go through the tiniest of holes," Karim asked.
"You're right. That would be unfortunate for us. I guess we're lucky that they don't exist then," I chuckled. He glared at me. I looked away before I turned into stone and noticed that Rebel was on her knees feeling under a nosing of the lowest step on the staircase.
"Does this feel weird to you?" She asked when she noticed me looking. I walked over and felt.
"Yeah... It feels like there's an indentation," I agreed.
"What do you think it's used for?" Rebel began to think.
"I don't know," I replied.
"Indentations usually exist for a better grip. Maybe we have to lift it?" Rebel stood back up.
"Did someone say lift?" Karim ran around the corner. "My specialty!"
He fumbled around with the staircase before finding it. He lifted up forcefully and part of the staircase lifted up and flipped over onto the rest of the stairs.
"You know this was here?" Rebel's eyes jolted over to me.
"No... no," I stuttered.
"Ooo, interesting," Karim began to run down the stairs now visible and into the dark hallway. Rebel sighed followed. I then proceeded into the dark hallway also.
I was walking next to Karim and Rebel, I think. The hallway was dark so it was hard to see. I could begin hearing the noise better now. It was getting louder and clearer. The thing must be in this tunnel then.
With the clarification and amplification, the noise began sounding like noise. It sounded something like "Garno Verto Immortalis."
We walked a few more seconds and we could see some light. I knew that was definitely what the person was saying. It was kinda creepy, to be honest.
"So what do you guys think this is?" Karim asked when we were almost there.
"I honestly have no idea," Rebel mumbled. "This place is so complex."
We made it to the end of a hallway and the light was coming from a crack in the door.
"Count of three. One... Two... Three!" I said and we pushed the door open. Despite the room being small, there was still two large cylinders filled with bubbling water.
"Is that Kirai and Bethany?" Rebel exclaimed. When I took a better look, I noticed that there was indeed two bodies in the cylinders. They looked a lot like my friends.
I was completely oblivious of the woman who had what seemed to be wires attached to her, like what they use in hospitals. She was the one saying Garno Verto Immortalis.
I was even more concerned when I realized the woman was my classmate Margaret. Suddenly, the door behind us slammed. I turned around and saw my other classmate Todd locking the door. He was the one who slammed it and now he was giving us the inability to leave.
I was just as surprised as Rebel and Karim when he pulled out a knife and started chasing us. This gave us the incentive to run. Rebel and I ran right while Karim ran left. I wasn't the best runner so I thought I was going to be the first dead.
Karim became my savior when he yelled for us and gestured through the open door back to the house.
"Come on!" He ran back into the hallway with Rebel and me trailing. I had forgotten how long the hallway was. I was gradually getting tired but I'd rather push through the pain than feel the pain of being stabbed or whatever voodoo demon stuff Todd and Margaret were going to do if they caught us.
By the time I stopped thinking, we were back into my house. We all decided to split up and hide. We all went different ways. Somehow, we all had the brilliant idea to go to the kitchen. I was last to make it there and Rebel and Karim grabbed the last clean knives. That meant that if I wanted a knife I needed to grab if from the dishwasher.
I would've but Todd appeared in the doorway with a creepy smile on his face. Rebel and Karim ran through the other door and I followed. On the way out, I realized I had no defense. I quickly grabbed a frying pan off the counter.
I couldn't see where Karim went, but I saw Rebel closing the stairs. It was a good idea because I'd really rather not have my mom up here trying to kill us as well. I was just about to enter the bathroom to hide when I saw Todd in the reflection of the bathroom mirror. I turned around and he had a baseball with nailed in it. That was my autographed baseball, too.
My heart stopped when he threw the ball at me. I didn't know what to do. Getting hit with a spiked baseball would hurt a lot. I spontaneously swung the pan and hit the baseball back to him. Of course, he didn't want to get hit either. He dove to the side and landed in front of the staircase.
He and I both heard a shrill scream and saw Rebel in the air, ready to plunge the knife into him. In a last minute attempt, he tried to dodge and caused the knife to go into the back of his knee. He let out a loud scream.
"You whore!" He yelled and glared at Rebel. Rebel blushed.
"Thanks," She said in a stereotypical high school girl voice and began twisting her hair. Todd let out a softer scream as he removed the knife from his knee.
"You idiot!" Rebel yelled to him.
"You're one to talk!" He yelled back as his blood started spewing across the room.
"That's why. The knife was causing the blood to not escape but when you removed it, the blood could escape," Rebel explained.
"Oh, shut up!" With those words, Todd passed out. I walked up to Rebel.
"Well, thanks for killing him, I guess," I shrugged.
"No problem," She playfully punched me on the shoulder.
"By the way, good idea keeping Margaret down there," I praised.
"That's not what I was going for when I lowered it but thanks," She let out a smile. Suddenly, we heard banging on the staircase. We both screamed. I then saw the staircase lift up and Karim appear with Kirai and Bethany.
"So, uh, how are you guys?" I asked Kirai and Bethany. They were both pretty pale.
"I feel fantastic. Having your energy drained to give someone immortality is a great experience. You should try it sometime," Kirai answered.
"She was gaining immortality from you guys?" I asked.
"Yes," Kirai simply stated.
"So, how'd you get them out without Margaret noticing?" Rebel asked Karim.
"It was easy. All I had to do was slit her throat," He answered.
"What is this? National Kill My Classmates Day?" I asked.
"Dude, she was doing some creepy voodoo demon stuff. I ain't 'bouta die when she makes a chair fly or somethin'," Karim answered. I let out a sigh.
We ended up retrieving Margaret, putting her next to Todd, and calling 9-1-1 to report a homicide. We told the police that we were in my room playing video games while it happened. Since I have a big house, they believed us. And I must say, my life turned out great despite finding out people I see every day were in a weird cult thing, then my best friends killing them.
