[Virgil's pov]

I was the poison in our relationship. I cut things off when they get real. I never let him do the things he wanted. I was too scared. I know that it was good that it ended. The quicker it did, the less pain for him.

But not for me.

This was special. This was one I wanted too. This was love. Oh, I did give anything to go back home to him. To sleep next to him. To hold hands with him. That's all I want to do right now.

"Virgil, what is it?"

"Lo, please"

"No, Virgil, I ca-"

"Please"

"Fine, where are you?"

"Griffin's Edge"

"You're fuckin kidding me. I'll be there soon"

I heard the rocks under his tires. His headlights lit up the surroundings. Until they turned off.

"Virgil"

"Logan"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm not sure"

"You know we can't be together"

"I know. I was never the one for you"

"Then why did you call me? Why are you here?"

"I missed you"

I heard his annoyed sigh. I missed hearing that. I heard it often, right before he gave into what I wanted. I knew that's exactly what he did when I heard his footsteps approach me.

"Virgil, I have a boyfriend"

"I know. Roman is great"

"There's more you want to say, isn't there?"

"I just wish it was me"

"It's your fault it isn't"

"I know. I regret it"

"I missed you too, Virgil"

"Really? I didn't think you cared anymore"

"Of course I still care"

"Why, Logan?"

"Because I love you"

"I'll never stop loving you, Logan"

"I have to go, Virgil"

"I know. Goodbye, Logan"

His footsteps leave. His headlights turn on again. His car drives away.

He's gone, and I'm alone. Just like the last time I saw him. He's happy, and I'm breaking down. Just like the last time I checked up on him. He's making new memories, and I'm reminiscing. Just like the last time I talked to him.

I remember the one summer we did cliff jumping. It was here on Griffin's Edge. On a lower cliff, of course. We weren't looking to die, just to have some fun. I'm gonna do it again tonight.

This time, with one less person.
