Reflect, Reform and Rejuvenate

This writing exercise was a part of a Short Story Contest promoted by @_ShortStory_ entitled:   Spring Blooms and Creativity Blossoms.   The task included writing about something new that one would like to do, a change that one would like to make or something that one would start over.

Entries were to be written in the comments section, using 2000 characters or less.  The last date of entry is May 31, 2017 23.59 GMT (Greenwich Time).  Maybe you will be inspired to participate as well.

Below is my entry that is exactly 1,999 characters with spaces , 318 words and 13 sentences.  Hope you enjoy it!

Spring is not only the time for rejuvenation but for reflection and reformation too.   In this day and age of speed and technology, we find ourselves constantly reacting rather than actively thinking about why we are partaking in an event, activity or opinion.   Instant gratification and rapid acknowledgement garner attention constantly but how advantageous is this to our human spirit?

Reflecting on the season of spring makes us realize that for beauty to flourish and flowers to bloom, time and patience are required.    This notion leads to the hope that maybe we all could take at least five minutes before and/or after an important task to think about the achievement, the reasoning and the benefits.   This precious time may show alternative solutions, problem solving methods and varying viewpoints from others.   The accompanying virtue of patience with this process will yield admirable results and better outcomes.

For this change to occur, it is critical to remain focused and calm.   Certain pursuits and actions may help in this journey and include exercise, meditation, reading something inspiring, spending time with family, indulging in a hobby and/or establishing a routine.   The answer of what will help one the most in this reformative process will come truly from within us and it all begins by reflection.

Once the process is underway, rejuvenation and transformation are bound to occur.   Removing the pesky cobwebs and dirt that cloud our judgment, create clutter and blur our vision will create more space for positivity, optimism, compassion and maybe even peace.   With this regeneration, we can look forward to innovative ideas and amazing accomplishments.

In conclusion, this spring, let's make a pledge to analyze more, create change and metamorphose into humans that are as altruistic and solicitous as nature itself.   To sign this pledge, all that is needed is the following: one deep cleansing breath, do one thing of interest and believe that you can make a difference!
