•Twenty-Two
Great amounts of joy blooms in Jungkook's chest as he holds you close. As your arms wrap around his body his breathes hitches slightly with his heart picking up the pace. Feeling you close to him felt like heaven.
He has this sense that your body molded perfectly in his arms and to his body. He knew it was like two puzzles pieces coming together. He always loved that feeling.
It was too soon when you let go of him and took a step back. Jungkook had to clear his throat and avert his gaze in hopes of hiding his blush.
"So, where's your plus one?" You ask suddenly and to the point. You wasted no time in asking about his girl. You were curious about her but you were also mad at her.
The blush quickly fades as Jungkook raises a brow in puzzlement. He looks at you with a head tilt. "Plus one?" He repeats making you nod.
"Yeah, didn't Jin tell you yesterday? You know, to bring that girl of yours?"
You couldn't help but say that last sentence with bitterness in your tone. Jin snickers behind you letting you know he noticed. You ignored him and hoped Jungkook did too.
You never told any of them why you were so fixated about this girl coming to the party. Only Jimin had the gist but he's smart enough to keep his mouth shut.
"O-oh! About that," Jungkook starts to rub the back of his head nervously and gives you a small, apologetic smile. "She couldn't come." He lies.
"Why?" You ask with a small, deflating sigh. He looks to the side and bites the corner of his bottom lip. Your stomach leaped at the sight.
"She had to do some overtime at work." He mutters. You pout in disappointment and cross your arms.
You were really looking forward to rubbing the party in her face.
Jungkook glances at you and felt guilty. He hated the fact that he was lying to you but it was the only way to keep his secret safe. He rarely lies so it was easy for you to believe in his fib.
You shake off your disappointment and smile at Jungkook. No matter, as long as he's here with you then that's all you care about.
Sangjun slaps a hand on Jungkook's back surprising him a bit. "I didn't know you had a girl." He lets out, astonished. "Little boy Jungkook has finally become a man." He teases.
The guys chuckle at his comment causing Jungkook to roll his eyes and shrug off Sangjun. "I've always been a man!" He defends.
You cross your arms and push out your hip with a raised brow. "Oh really? What about that time when you couldn't beat Sangjun's hundred-meter dash record?" You question with a smirk.
His eyes widen slightly and a frown forms on his lips. He looks away with a huff. "I don't know what you're talking about." He grumbles.
Your smirk widens, "You threw a tantrum like a toddler when you kept getting five seconds over." You point out with a sly grin.
Jungkook's cheeks redden and you couldn't help but laugh. Sangjun snickers and crosses his arms.
"Oh, I remember that like yesterday. We had to stay after school every day until he could beat it."
Everyone then joined in on the laughing making Jungkook cross his arms and glare to the side. He doesn't say a word as a pout form on his lips. You notice and slung an arm around his neck causing him to slouch down to your height.
"Okay, okay that's enough teasing the poor man." You chuckle.
Sangjun lets out a sigh and looks around the rooftop. He spots Jimin in the crowd and smiles mischievously. "I think I'll go have a talk or two with your brother." He says and quickly leaves.
Everyone does the same wanting to do what they wish. It was only you and Jungkook now and suddenly you felt self-conscious. You looked anywhere but at the man next to you.
Questions swirled in your head, why were you so nervous? Why couldn't you feel normal? You were too busy sorting out your thoughts that you barely noticed the light tap on your arm.
"Um, Jisun can you let go now?" Jungkook whines lightly.
You notice that your arm was still wrapped around his neck and you quickly let go. "Sorry," you mumble.
He straightens his spine with a wince, he wasn't used to bending down that long. He glances your way and sees your flustered expression. He couldn't help but feel the same and started to rub the back of his neck nervously.
"So, um what do you want to do?" He asks slowly and looks at the party in front of him. Music blared through the speakers and everyone danced to the beat.
You wanted to dance too yet you were unsure who you wanted to dance with. Most of your friends had a partner leaving you with the option to ask a stranger.
You snuck a glance at Jungkook. You could ask him but wouldn't that be even weirder? You could barely look at him in the eye.
You bite your bottom lip and rub your hand up and down your arm. "I want to dance," you mumble almost too soft for him to hear.
A smile slowly spreads on Jungkook's lips with a giddy filling his body. He had to contain his excitement in order to keep you around him. He didn't want you to think weirdly of him.
He clears his throat, "We can dance if you want?" He asks casually. You nod with a smile hoping you seemed normal.
"Y-yeah!"
You grab his hand taking him by surprise and drag him into the crowd of people. A slow, steady song suddenly begins to play.
You quickly let go of his hand and look at him with a nervous smile. He looks back at you looking florid as ever.
"Um, so how do we start?" He asks awkwardly. You giggle and suddenly place your arms around his neck. Jungkook's eyes widen in surprise and he flinches at the contact.
"W-what are you doing??" He squeaks.
"Showing you how to dance!" You smile. "Put your hands on my hips." You see him hesitate and raise an eyebrow teasingly.
"What? Are you scared you might catch cooties or something?" You tease.
His face quickly scrunches into a frown and he puts his hands firmly on your hips. "N-no," he answers. "I'm not five, Jisun."
You laugh and shake your head. "Sure, Kook. Sure."
He ignores you and moves with the beat and so do you. Both of you don't say a word but you prefer it that way. Saying something seemed more nerve-racking. Jungkook looked to his side avoiding your haze the best he could.
You took it as a chance to stare at his face.
He was definitely handsome, especially when he smiles. His hair draping over his forehead seemed to make him more desirable.
More attractive.
You admit that you always thought that he was attractive but never in your life have you felt attracted to him. It was a weird thing to even think about but was the truth.
You thought that it was probably because of the way he did his hair or the suit he wore. Or maybe it was because of the few shots you had before his arrival.
Whatever the case was you wanted to stop feeling this way. It wasn't right.
Jungkook felt your heavy gaze and cold sweat dripped down his spine. Why is she staring at me so hard? Is there something on my face?
He wiggles his nose like a bunny and clears his throat. You jump out of your daze and quickly look away, embarrassed of your act.
Jungkook couldn't stop thinking about how much work you put into this prom. It surprised him that you would put so much effort just for him. It made an impact on him so much that he wonders if you could see that from him.
You probably couldn't and maybe he should tell you. He thought for a moment, if he told you would it change your feelings for him. Would you like him like the way he likes you?
It was worth a shot but the possibility was high that you won't get. He takes in a breath and turns to look at you. Either way, you need to know.
"Jisun, there's something I need to tell you," he says softly.
You heard what Jungkook was saying but your attention was elsewhere. Your eyes were on a certain man in a blood-red suit who walked on to the rooftop.
His hair was dyed midnight black and he looked dashing as ever.
Your heart swelled in surprise and joy, happy that he could make it on such short notice.
Jungkook takes in a deep breath, "I--"
"Oh my god, you actually made it!!" You squeal happily as you let go of Jungkook to run to the man.
Stunned by your action Jungkook stood there planted on his spot. He blinks twice before turning to where you went. He sees you embracing a man with a huge smile plastered on both your faces.
His mood turns to dark and annoyed as he sees who it was. He frowns with a glare.
"Of fucking course."

Jungkook leans forward on a rail and stares out at the buildings before him. In the distance, he could see the dark ocean with the city lights reflection on the water.
A frown was evident on his face, he wasn't enjoying himself. Not after he arrived. It has been about two hours and not once have you made a move to talk to him. You completely ignored his presence making Jungkook feel even more irritated.
He spent the rest of his night in this very spot, staring out into the city.
He hears footsteps come close to him and made no move to see who it was. A loud sigh came from the man as he leans back against the rail and stares up at the sky.
"Man, she sure can dance." He breathes with his hair sticking his forehead. Jungkook didn't even try to hide his scowl.
"What do you want, Taehyung?"
Said man shrugs casually, "Nothing, just want to talk to my friend. Is that wrong?" He asks.
Yes, Jungkook thinks and lets out a sigh. Taehyung ignores it and smiles to himself.
"I didn't think I would make it but damn aren't I lucky that I did."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Jungkook questions. Taehyung looks back at the crowd and at you.
"She's very beautiful don't you agree?" He hums. Jungkook rolls his eyes, "Yeah," he mutters.
"God, I would do anything to have such a beautiful woman back in my life."
Jungkook couldn't help but scoff at that. "Oh please, Taehyung don't act all sincere with me."
Taehyung turns to him with an annoyed look. "What the hell's your problem, man?" Jungkook clenches his fists tightly unable to hold in his anger any longer.
"You." He grounds out. "You're my problem."
Taehyung looks at him exasperated. "What did I even do??"
Jungkook clicks his tongue with the shake of his head. "I know what you said to Jisun that day." He says instead.
"What are you even talking about?" Taehyung demands.
"You told her that you were still in love with her." Jungkook states.
"Okay and? Why do you care?"
Jungkook suddenly slams a fist on the rail before glaring at Taehyung. He was an inch taller than his older but Taehyung didn't sway away from the glare.
"I care because she's my friend!" He snaps. "Unlike you, I care about her feelings and I don't want her getting hurt. She doesn't need someone like you in her life."
Taehyung stares at him for a minute before a smirk appears on his face.
"Cut the shit, Jungkook. I know you don't just see her as a friend."
Jungkook's glare darkens. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh, I think you do. You're in love with her." Taehyung states. "I see the way you look at you or the way you talk to her. There's nothing friendly about it. You want something more."
Jungkook quickly looks away with a frown. "Yeah, so what? I do love her. Which is why I won't let you hurt her. You've done enough damage in the past." He spats.
"You still think I'm still a jerk, huh, Jungkook?" Taehyung smirks.
"Once a cheater, always a cheater." Jungkook shoots back.
Taehyung suddenly grabs Jungkook's collar and brings him close.
"Look here, you asshat. I'm not the same as I was before, understand? And I won't let you have Jisun. Get in my way and our friendship is over. Got it?"
Jungkook simply glares back with the same fire in his eyes. Taehyung clicks his tongue before shoving him away.
"I'm not joking, Jungkook." He says lowly before walking away and disappearing into the crowd. Jungkook sighs and fixes his collar before turning back to the buildings.
"Yeah, and I wasn't joking either."
