•Thirty-Four

"Jungkook," you gasp in surprise. He stood a few feet in front of you, clearly surprised seeing you here as well. He stares at you with a questioning gaze, his lips turn into a frown as if he was solving a difficult math problem.

He wore a black parka and jeans. His hair was a bit disheveled like he was out on a run. You notice that in his hand was a plastic bag, he probably got some takeout.

"What's going on here?" Jungkook asks once more, this time louder so you could hear his voice over the city noise.

"Hey, Kook!" Seojun greets happily. "We're just about to head into a cafe."

Jungkook's brows furrow together, "A Cafe?"

"Yeah, you know the one down the street? We're going to that one."

You look away from Jungkook suddenly feeling somewhat embarrassed. You know he didn't hear your conversation but the fact that you were thinking about him in a attractive way and the fact he seemed like a good match didn't sit well with you.

You know you shouldn't think like that even if it was hypothetical. Jungkook would be uncomfortable by it.

Jungkook notices your expression and wonders if you were alright. Your cheeks were becoming crimson by the second and you seemed a bit anxious.
He took a step towards you both.

He opens his mouth to speak but sees Seojun wrap an arm around your shoulders. His eyes widen in shock and he quickly takes a step back. A stinging pain radiates throughout his chest and he presses lips in a fine line.

What is this? Why is Seojun doing that? Jungkook suddenly begins to fear the worst and feels the color in his face slowly disappear.

He knew what that action meant when a guy holds a woman like that. He wish he didn't know it though.

"Is this. . .Is this a date?" He asks timidly as if he was afraid to hear the answer.

Seojun lets out a shy giggle, "It could be."

You lightly shove him in the side with your elbow. "Or it won't be." You grumble.

"Aw, think about it, Jisun. We seriously look like the perfect couple!" Seojun exclaims. "Right, Kook?"

Taken aback by his question, Jungkook's mouth hung open with his face expressionless. Nothing was being processed in his mind, all he could do was stare.

His chest began to ache like a sore, his fingertips went numb as if he had gotten frostbite. Could Seojun like you too? Is that why he was taking you out to the cafe?

He grips the plastic bag in his hands. And here he thought he could maybe watch a movie and eat takeout with you.

He may have given up but the pain wouldn't go away. He looks away with a frown. It was driving him crazy.

Seojun blinks and cocks his head. "Yo, earth to Kook!" Jungkook jumps slightly and glances back at Seojun.

"You okay?" Seojun asks. "You didn't answer my question."

Jungkook shrugs, "I think you can answer that yourself."

"Wow, salty much?" Seojun teases. "Some will think you're jealous, you know."

When Jungkook doesn't answer and you look at him curiously. Him jealous? Of what exactly?

Jungkook looks blank as ever his eyes showing no emotion. You wished that you knew what he was thinking. It drove you mad when you didn't. He could be like an open book or what the Japanese call it, a Tsundere.

"Have a nice time at the cafe," Jungkook says a bit coldly. He twists his heel to walk away not wanting to see you and Seojun together.

"Wait!"

He stops suddenly, his feet becoming frozen to the ground. He curses himself for always stopping for you. Always waiting for you.

You stare at his back and watch his shoulders rise and fall in a heavy motion. It was as if he controlling some type of temper inside of him. You fumble with your fingers while biting your bottom lip nervously.

"Hang out with us." You tell him softly. "It'll be fun."

Seojun stares at you in surprise then back at Jungkook. He was curious. Curious with what Jungkook'll do next.

It was you who asked, if what the others say is true then Jungkook wouldn't hesitate to say yes. He was too much in love with you to deny you.

Jungkook chews the inside of his cheek. Why were you asking him such a thing? He would get in the way of whatever you and Seojun were doing.

He didn't want to be the third wheel, he already felt uncomfortable just by standing here.

"No, it's fine. You guys go ahead and enjoy yourselves." He says hoping his voice sounded carefree. But you didn't buy it. You shake your head in refusal.

"It wouldn't be fun without you, Jungkook!" You exclaim. "Come on, please? It's the cafe you and I go to all the time!"

He doesn't answer with his back still turned to you. Anxiousness runs through your body with your eyes glued on to his back. You want him to say yes, you never went into that cafe without Jungkook.

That's always been your place, just the two of you. He took you there when you were heartbroken and bought you every single sweet there is. It has always been a special place to you and it just didn't seem right to go in there with another man.

You see Jungkook's shoulders sag as he lets out a sigh. He glances over his shoulder with his bottom lip sticking out. "If that's how you feel then fine. I guess I'll tag along," he mumbles.

Your eyes light up and you shrug off Seojun's arm as you rush over to Jungkook with a grin.

"Thank you, Kook!" You squeal as you attack him with a hug.

Surprised, Jungkook's arms were held out in front of him stiffly. He had no idea if he should hug you back or not. Or why in the world you were hugging him.

He just said yes.

Finally you let go with your face bright with a smile. "Let's go get our favorite chocolate mousse cake!" You quickly grab him by the hand and drag him down down the sidewalk.

Seojun quickly follows right behind knowing that you completely forgot about him. His face was contorted in confusion and loss.

Was it just him or were you a totally different person around Jungkook?

Your smile was brighter than before with your eyes lighting up in giddiness. Your body language seems to be more open than a few minutes ago. It was like watching a girlfriend getting excited simply at the sight of their boyfriend.

Suddenly it hits Seojun. A small gasp escapes his lips as he stops walking. "No way. . ." He gapes in shock.

Could it be? Were you possibly in love with Jungkook?

\/\/\/\/\/

Time slowly passes by as you three sit in the cafe. The air was heavy and awkward for Seojun nor Jungkook said a word to each other. Seojun attempted a few times but when Jungkook gave cold, dry answers he quickly gave up.

You sat next to Jungkook with him on your right and a window on your left. Silently you take sip of coffee and observe the cake between you and Jungkook. It was the chocolate mousse cake you ordered.

You ate your half but Jungkook didn't touch his. Instead he drank his cup of water as he observed the customers in the cafe. Seojun simply sits across from you silently while staring at you intently.

You tried your best to ignore him from the start but slowly you were starting to get annoyed. You sigh irritably and shoot Seojun a glare.

"Why don't you just take a picture of me or something!" You snap. He blinks out of his daze and clears his throat.

"What?"

"You keep staring at me!" You exclaim. "It's weird!"

Seojun lets out a sheepish chuckle with his cheeks slightly turning red. "Sorry, I'm just thinking," he says while rubbing the back of his head.

You quirk up an eyebrow. What could he possibly be thinking about that he must stare at you with such intensity?

"About me?"

Seojun nods with a small smile spreading on his lips. "I was wondering if we could finish our conversation."

Puzzled, you furrow your eyes together with your lips forming into a pout. "Conversation? What were we talking--Oh my god!" You gasp in realization.

You glance at Jungkook who seems to be focused on a couple sitting in the corner. You couldn't have this conversation here! Was Seojun crazy?
That conversation was only meant for you and Seojun. No one else.

"Seojun!" You hiss as quietly as you could. "Not here."

"But why not?" He asks loudly. "It's just about Jungkook." Your eyes widen in horror with your skin going pale.

"Seojun!"

Jungkook turns his head and looks at you both blankly. "What about me?" He asks oblivious. You groan and slam your head on the table. Could this get any worse?

"Oh we were just talking about how Jisun would feel if you had feelings for her," Seojun lets out casually.

Looks like it can.

Suddenly a sharp pain radiates all over his shin causing him to yelp loudly. You lift up your head with a death glare.

"You want another one?" You threaten.

He waves off your threat with his face contorted into a wince. "N-no," he stammers.

"Then learn when to shut up!" You shout. God, how big of an idiot is he? Does he not understand the phrase, not here?

Jungkook feeling confused as ever wonders why Seojun got kicked and why you look angry and embarrassed. He wishes to know why you were talking about him. Did one of the guys tell you how he feels?

He presses his lips together while gripping his cup. Nervous sweat runs down his temples as he watches you breathe heavily. "What was this whole conversation about exactly?" He asks cautiously.

You bite your lip while clenching your fists. You know you have to come clean thanks to your good for nothing friend. Refusing to look at him you focus on the coffee in your cup.

You clear your throat, "Um, well. . . We were just talking about how men only like women for looks, especially when it came to me," you start off shakily.

"A-and Seojun asked me if there was a man who likes besides my looks and if it was a friend then how would I feel."

Jungkook eyes your curiously with his head cocked slightly. "Was he referring to me?"

You nod slowly, "Yeah."

Jungkook looks away shyly and began to fumble with a fork. His cheeks were slightly red with his heart beating loudly against his chest.

He swallows hard, "Did you. . .Did you answer the question."

"I was about to," you admit.

"What was your answer?"

The pressure was on you as you felt Seojun's hard stare and feel the anxiousness radiate off of Jungkook. You take in a sharp breath bracing yourself.

"I was about to tell Seojun that I would be flattered and surprised if you like me. Hypothetically speaking of course," you add quickly.

Seojun quickly averts his eyes to Jungkook who seems a bit curious and nervous. Still, he kept his eyes on the fork with his lips pressed together.

"Would you just feel flattered?" Jungkook asks softly. "Would you. . .would you maybe feel the same?"

Your breathing stops short. You didn't even consider him asking you such a thing. It took you by surprise, you don't even know how to respond to that. You feel yourself hesitate and a frown forms in your lips. Jungkook scoffs with a nod.

"I should've known," he murmurs feeling like an idiot.

He abruptly stands up and you stare at him in questioning. "What--what are you doing?" You ask. Jungkook doesn't bother to look at you and clenches his fists.

"Sorry for asking that." He then rushes out of the cafe as he hears you shout for him. But he doesn't stop, he leaves the cafe.

Seojun quickly stands up ready to go after him. He moves a step but stops when he hears you sigh.

"He didn't stay to hear what I was going to say next." You mumble sadly.

Seojun still standing in position to run after Jungkook looks at you puzzled. "What else were you going to say?"

Embarrassed you fumble with your glass with you cheeks puffed out. "I was going to say that if we felt the same for each other then it would be perfect."

Your heart beats rapidly when you spoke those words. It was true, everything you dreamed of was with him. He made everything right in your eyes, he always been someone special to you. Despite it all a small smile spreads on your lips at the thought.

Confused, Soejun stares at you with a questioning look. You were one weird, confusing woman he ever met. You may deny it but you seemed to be in love with Jungkook. It was obvious.

You may not have much words to describe your feelings but your expressions spoke the loudest. He wants to confront you maybe tease you but he knew it wouldn't be worth it.

He sighs, "You're so obvious."

He takes off leaving you in dust. You blink in puzzlement, what did he mean by that? What was obvious?

You frown knowing that you're alone in this cafe. You take another sip from your cup. You notice something through your peripheral vision and turn to your right. You sigh when you notice a plastic bag on the floor.

"Gosh, he was in such a hurry that he forgot this." Curious you open the bag to see a small grey box inside.

Slowly you open it and see an assortment of rice cakes inside. They seemed freshly made and you could smell the rich bean paste filling.
A smile forms on your lips with tenderness in your eyes.

"It surprises me that you still don't have a girlfriend. You're every girl's dream."
