You shoved your thoughts of Jungkook hating music away and joined him on his bed facing the tv. He already got a game ready and you could already tell by the loading screen it was the first game you both played when you were both teens.
You glance to your left and notice Jungkook staring at the screen with his brown doe eyes lighting up in excitement. His lips were trying to curl up into a smile but he was holding back.
You felt your chest ache and your eyes fill with sadness. You want to ask, you want to know how you could bring that cute bunny smile back. But seeing Jungkook getting a little happy by this small moment you two shared made you keep your mouth shut. You didn't want to take this away from him by simply asking a stupid question.
So you grab the extra control and turn to the screen. "Let's see if you can beat me, Kook." You say playfully. Jungkook slouches his shoulders and concentrateson the screen as well.
"Yeah let's see how many times I'll beat you."

Hours ticked by without you two noticing. Jungkook was continuously beating you as promised. And you tried your best to not to make a big deal about it. But you were failing miserably.
"Aw come on! That was the twentieth time!!" You shout as you watch Jungkook kill your character.
You whine and lean on his shoulder causing him to huff a little. "Want to go again?"
"No!" You exclaim. Jungkook gives a little smirk. "I'll go easy on you this time." Amusement sparkles in his eyes and you couldn't help but laugh a little.
Although the sound was faint you heard the door downstairs open and close. "Jungkook, we're back!" You heard Mrs. Jeon shout from downstairs. They walk up the stairs and his parents appear at the doorway.
They seem surprised at your appearance but quickly smile when they see what you two were doing. "Wow, you're playing video games?" Mrs. Jeon asks as she looks at the screen.
"Yeah, and your son keeps beating me!" You pout with your arms crossed. Mr. Jeon chuckles as he eyes you both.
"Well aren't you two having fun." He says like he was talking to small children again. "But we brought some takeout. Why don't you two take a break and join us."
You give them a quizzical look. "Takeout?"
Mrs. Jeon nods, "For dinner."
"DINNER?!" You screech.
You look at the window and notice that the sun wasn't shining through but the moon instead. You curse inwardly and jump off the bed. You were supposed to have dinner with your parents.
"I'm sorry but I promised my parents that I would have dinner with them." Mrs. Jeon waves off your apology. "No, no we understand. Don't worry about it."
You bow to them both and move to the door. "Have a good night!" As you made way down the hallway you remember something and backtrack back to Jungkook's room.
"Oh, I'll come back tomorrow to take up those leaves in your front lawn."
Mr. Jeon nods in gratitude, "Thank you, Jisun."
You wave at Jungkook, "See you tomorrow, Kook!" He gave you a small wave and then you were off. Once the front door closed Jungkook lets out a sigh and turns off the gaming system.
He greatly enjoyed spending some quality time with you. Especially when he beat you every round and you kept throwing yourself on to him. He wished that you didn't have to go.
Mrs. Jeon turns to him with a sly smirk, "So?"
Jungkook stands up to put the controllers away. "So, what?" He questions.
"Did you guys have fun?"
Jungkook shrugs silently with no expression on his face. His mother watches her son put away the game and situates himself back on his bed. She sighs softly and walks over to him and sits down.
"Now that Jisun is back are you. . .are you feeling any better?" She asks slowly afraid of saying the wrong thing.
"Mom, I'm fine. I've been fine." Jungkook answers flatly.
"Jungkook, don't lie to us." Mr. Jeon warns calmly as he leans on the doorway.
"I'm not lying. I'm really fine." Jungkook states. Mrs. Jeon looks at him in worry. She knew he was lying but she wasn't the type to push on the subject.
"Honey, we're just worried that's all. I don't want you hurting anymore." She says softly and grabs his hand gently. "I mean, you gave up on music." Jungkook winces at that. "You gave you gave up on everything else."
Jungkook knew his parents were greatly concerned about him and disliked the fact that he kept making them unhappy. He couldn't take it when he saw the people he cared about looking down at him in pity.
He gave her the best fake smile he could muster and squeezed her hand in reassurance. "Mom, I'm fine. Really. With everyone here makes me feel like myself again."
"Are you sure?" She asks. There were many things she wanted to say but knew she couldn't.
He nods, "Yes. Don't worry."
The three of them knew that was a lie. They knew his smile wasn't real nor was his statement. His parents couldn't help but stare at their only son in sadness.
They couldn't do anything for him now. There was nothing they could do to bring him out of his funk. They tried. So they smile sadly at him allowing him to believe that they were okay now.
He knew they weren't.

Jungkook left before you arrived the next day. He slipped out of the house before his parents even noticed too. It was a crisp, cool morning making Jungkook zip up his black sweater and place his hoodie over his head.
He walked down the sidewalk with no place in mind. His legs just moved on its own and without realizing it he arrived at the park. He sighs and situates himself on a bench facing a makeshift stage.
The trees above and around him rustle through the wind causing a few leaves to fall. It was silent all around him, except the fact that a few joggers passed by.
It was just him all alone, it was something he gradually came accustomed to. He didn't like it nor did he hate it. He just knew he needed to be alone.
Jungkook stares at the makeshift stage with dull eyes. This place, it was where he realized his dream. This was where he decided to be a singer all those years ago.
Now those were just worthless memories that will mean nothing to him or to anyone.
He clenches his phone in his pocket. He couldn't understand it. He couldn't understand why he still kept thinking about music when there was no way for him to pursue it longer.
The first thing that popped into his mind was you. It was your disappointed expression and frown that made him feel as if he let you down. Maybe he did. Maybe he did let everyone down when he became diagnosed.
He looks away from the stage and down at his hands that were in his sweater pocket. He takes out his phone in one pocket and his headphones in the other. Slowly he plugs in the headphones and brings the earpieces to his ears.
But as they were inches away from his ears he hesitates. His hands began to shake and he swallows hard. He felt his heart beat rapidly with sweat dripping down his temple. He couldn't do it.
He puts down the earpieces and yanks out the cord from his phone. He lets out a frustrated sigh and vigorously ruffles his hair. He shoves his headphones and phone into his pocket and stands up. Jungkook walks away without looking back.

When Jungkook enters his house laughter greets him. Wondering where the sound was coming from he followed it into the kitchen. There you stood with flour all over your apron and hands.
You had the biggest smile on your face making Jungkook's eyes soften. You and his mother were attempting to cook whatever it was making the kitchen a mess. His father sat at the counter with his chin on his hand while chuckling to himself.
Jungkook leans against the entryway waiting for you to notice him. You do of course and your smile brightens at the sight of him.
"Jungkook, you're here!" You squeal and jump on him transferring all the flour on your apron and hands to his sweater.
You notice and you back away with wide eyes. You knew you were in for it. "Sorry," You mumble with a sheepish smile.
Jungkook looks down at himself and sees the white powder all over him. He simply shrugs and looks at you with his doe eyes solely on you. You suddenly felt self-conscious under his gaze and quickly turn your head to the side.
"Did you finish raking the leaves?" He asks softly. You nod, still refusing to look at him. "Yes, I finished an hour ago."
Jungkook tilts his head, "Then aren't you tired?" You ponder at the question for a moment before nodding slowly.
"Yeah, I guess." You had no idea why he was asking this all of a sudden, but you just went with the flow.
Jungkook takes a step to you, close enough that you heard him breathing. "You should rest then. My mom doesn't need you helping her more." Jungkook states in a low tone.
Mrs. Jeon gasps and was about to contribute to the conversation but Jungkook quickly sent her a stern look. She quickly shuts her mouth with a slow smirk spreading on her lips. You look up at Jungkook who looked back down at you with gentle eyes.
"Come on, you should sit down." He made a move to take off your apron but you jump back.
"I-I can do it myself!" You blurt out with a heavy blush.
Jungkook stares at you in surprise before smiling and retracting his hands. You had no idea why you were blushing, or why you felt your heart race. You had no idea why you are suddenly acting this way, but that was the least of your problems right now.
Right now you had witness something that no one else has in a while. Jungkook's smile.
His lips were spread across his face making that famous bunny smile. He was smiling.
You gasp and point at him. "You're smiling!" You exclaim with a grin. Jungkook couldn't help but smile more at your little outburst.
Yes, he knew he was smiling. It hurt his cheekbones a little since it has been a while but it was there.
Just seeing you smile, just hearing you laugh made him feel like himself again. Just by simply being with you made him smile. He didn't realize how much he appreciated your presence.
He watches you cheer and beam in delight at him. Suddenly you stop in the middle of your happy dance and glare at him with a pout. "It's real, right?" You question.
Jungkook chuckles feeling his heart skip a beat. "Yes, it's real." He answers. Your smile returns to your face and you couldn't help but throw your arms around him.
"You don't know how much we missed seeing that cute smile of yours." You grin.
"I'm sure you missed it the most." He teases. You pull away and playfully rolled your eyes. "Duh! I've been trying to get you to smile."
He smiles and pats the top of your head, something that he hasn't done in a long time. "Well, now you can tell our friends that you succeeded."
You grin in delight, despite you being older by two years you always loved it when he gave you that type of affection. Until now, you hadn't actually realized how much you missed him.
