"Please no, there has to be another way! There has to be!" The woman shouts in anguish. She held a young man in her arms tightly as if she was afraid that he would disappear.
The man coughs harshly with blood dripping down his chin. He had done his best for her. He had done his best to protect her.
With a shaky hand, he reaches out to touch her face and looks at her. "I'm sorry. . ."He rasps. "I wish we had more time together."
The woman shakes her head and sobs. "No, don't think like that! I'm going to get you help! I won't let you die!"
"CUT!"
The man and woman let out a sigh and pull away from each other looking at their director in questioning. He shakes his head while pinching the bridge of his nose in utter disappointment. "What was that? That was not acting!" He snaps.
The woman rolls her eyes and stands up. "I was giving it my all." She states.
"If you were giving it your all then there should be tears running down your face!" The director shouts. "Nothing seemed to radiate off your acting! Pitiful!"
He points at you and you straighten your spine. "Go tell her what needs to be done." He orders. You hesitantly nod and make your way to the two with a paper in your hands.
"Okay, so this scene needs to be full anguish and heartbreak." You explain and look at the actress, Emily. "You need to show how heartbroken you are when your beloved is dying. He sacrificed his life for you, show more emotion."
She wasn't looking at you and began to pick at her nails. You ignore this action and continued to talk. "Show some tears too. Act like you can't live without him."
Emily groans in annoyance and shoots you dirty glare. "Okay, I get it. Now off the set." She demands. Both you and her stare down one another until you swiftly turn your back and get off the set. You retreat back to your spot next to the director who was smiling at you.
"Great job, Jisun! Wonderfully well done!" He praises. You beam in pride and smile humbly at him. It seems like your two years in Hollywood were paying off.
"I do my best, Mr.Hall."
He smiles brightly and turns back to the set. He counts to three then yells action. You watch the actors once more and this time their acting was better.
Except for Emily. For an odd reason, she wasn't doing so well like she usually does. Not that you thought she was good at acting. Oh no, she was definitely the opposite, you don't know how she got the main part in this movie.
After many more attempts with hours ticking by Mr. Hall finally issued a fifteen-minute break. Everyone seemed relieved and began to do their own thing. You stretch your arms and eye the snack table close by. You've been wanting to stuff your face with those donuts for an hour now.
Quickly you made your way to the table and start to shove a couple of small donuts in your mouth. As you were about to get to your third one a loud screechy voice begins to shout across the building.
"Hey, foreigner!"
Inwardly you groan knowing who it was. You swallow your food before turning around to be greeted with a plastic face diva. "What now?" You ask dully. She flips her blond hair and looks at you under her unrealistically long eyelashes.
"You don't boss me around like that." She snaps. "Well, you weren't acting the way you were supposed to, Emily." You state. "And Mr. Hall told me to--"
"Do I look like I care about his words?" She crosses her arms under her fake breasts. You chose not to answer that and simply stare at her. She points a finger at you with a disgusted look.
"Do me a favor and mind your business and don't come close to me." She snarls and storms off.
You clench your hands tightly, ever since you started filming, Emily was nothing but plain rude to you. She hated Asians for some reason and whenever she saw you she would either flip you off or degrade you. You were somewhat used to it now.
Your accent wasn't as thick like it was when you first moved here. It was still obvious that you were Korean but at least you can speak fluent English. Your phone began to ring in your pocket startling you out of your thoughts. You quickly answer it.
"Hello?"
"Jisun, are you busy?" Your mother asks.
"Not at the moment, I'm on break. Why?"
She doesn't answer for a moment and lets out a sigh. "I don't think I can tell you over the phone. Can you come back home?"
"Is it really that important?" You ask with a groan. "Yes, it is." Your mom answers in a serious tone. You look in the direction where Mr. Hall was standing with a couple of guys.
"I'll go ask Mr. Hall and see if I can get some time off." You say. "Your father just texted him about our situation so he'll let you go." You mom explains.
"Okay, mom see you in a bit." You hang up and felt very confused. What did she have to tell you that was so important that she couldn't tell you over the phone? Did you really need to go back for some stupid news? You heave a sigh and walked up to your mentor.
"Uh, Mr. Hall? Can I speak to you for a moment?" You ask while tapping his shoulder. He nods and turns away from his colleagues.
"This is about you going back home, correct?" He questions. You nod, "Yes, I'm sorry but my mother says it's an emergency."
"Yes, yes I understand. Go back home and take care of whatever that needs to be taken care of." He says in understanding. "You sure?" You ask unsurely and he nods.
"Yes, I'm sure. Go back home." He smiles kindly. You smile in gratitude and slightly bow your head. "Thank you, sir." You then turn to leave ignoring Emily's glare. Well, at least you can get away from Barbie.

"That was a horrible flight." You grumble as you exit the terminal. Your back ached due to the horrible seat you got and you didn't get a wink of sleep during the whole flight home. You look around and didn't see anyone familiar so you call up your mother.
"Mom, I'm at the airport." You inform in greeting. "Okay, someone is already there to pick you up." She answers. You rose an eyebrow and looked around once more. "Who?"
"JISUN!!!"
You cringe at the voice and wish you were back in that horrible seat on the plane. "See you soon." Your mom says and hangs up. You inwardly roll your eyes and brace yourself. Someone jumps on your back sending you stumbling forward.
"I missed you!" The man squeals.
"Hey get off you idiot! My back hurts!" You shout. He reluctantly jumps off with a giggle.
"Sheesh, you're in a bad mood."
You turn around and stared at a grey-haired man. "Yeah because you're here."
He dramatically places a hand on his chest and gasped. "My feelings!"
You roll your eyes, "Can we go now, Jimin? My back hurts and I'm tired." He sighs with a nod and takes your bag. "Yeah, let's go."
You both walk out of the airport and jump into a car. "So what is so important that I had to come home?" You ask when Jimin starts to drive. His bubbly bright attitude seems to disappear once you asked that question.
"Something bad happened," was his only answer. You ponder over it until he pulls up in a driveway and parks the car. You stare at the house in front of you in confusion.
"Come on, mom and dad are waiting inside," Jimin informs. "But this isn't our house. Why are we here?" You ask.
He doesn't answer and exits the car. You do the same and follow him to the door. You were confused but stayed quiet when you both entered the house.
As you walk through the halls you enter the living room and see many familiar faces. They all looked at you with a solemn expression. You rose an eyebrow, "Um what's going on?" Jimin walks past you and sits in a chair by your parents.
"Honey, you should sit down." Your father says softly and pats the spot between him and your mother. You warily make your way towards them and sit down. Everyone seemed to stare at you with a frown or look down at their hands. You look around and notice you were one person short.
"Where's Jungkook?"
The air suddenly turns tense and you felt your heart skip a beat. "Jisun, there's something we need to tell you." You mom says but you shake your head. "Where's Jungkook?" You ask again but louder.
"In his room." Mr. Jeon finally answers. You wanted to ask why but your mom speaks.
"Jisun, please listen to what I'm going to tell you, okay?" You swallow hard and nod hesitantly.
"A week ago the Jeon family were summoned at the hospital and. . ." She swallows hard. "And they found out something about Jungkook."
"What is it?" You ask almost afraid to hear what's next. Your mom squints her eyes shut trying to stop her tears and takes in a breath.
"He's. . .he's been diagnosed with lung cancer."
Everything seems to go still like time stopped. You stare at her blankly, you wanted to speak but your throat tightens restraining you.
"And he only has two months," Jimin whispers while tightening his grip on his armrests.
You felt like the wind was knocked out of you. Questions swirl around in your head but you didn't have the strength to ask. Your heart was beating fast and you abruptly stood up walking out of the living room. Everyone called for you but you ignore them and made your way upstairs. When you were in front of a door you knock on it harshly.
"Jungkook!" You shout but he doesn't answer. You shout for him again and got the same result. You turn the knob but found it to be locked.
Your heart starts to beat rapidly with anxiety thrumming through you. You jerked the knob as if it would somehow open.
"Jungkook, it's Jisun. Please open the door." You say in an almost pleading tone. Minutes have passed and you heard feet shuffling on the other side.
The door unlocks and you step inside. Your eyes widen at the sight. Papers were ripped and littered the floor, the bed wasn't made, and everything that seemed to be breakable was shattered. Plates of uneaten food were all over his desk. He never touched a single one.
You beheld your best friend who sat on the edge of his bed staring at nothing. He was thinner than you remembered, the darkness under his eyes was definite and his cheekbones were slightly sharper. The clothes he wore were huge on him now. You couldn't believe what you were seeing and frowned.
You sat down next to him not knowing what to say. "So they told you?" Jungkook asks in a raspy voice like he hasn't talked in a week.
"Yes and I'm so sorry, Jungkook. You shouldn't have to go through this." You take his hand into yours and give it a little squeeze.
He shrugs without care, "Well I am and I don't care." He pulls his hand away and stands up. "I want to be alone, Jisun." He says as he moves to his window.
You stare at his very thin figure and you felt your chest swell in pain. You nod and made your way to the door. "I'll see you later." You murmur and close the door behind you.
When the door clicks shut Jungkook silently stands by the window and watch you and your family leave his house. He didn't want you here. He didn't want you to see him weak and vulnerable.
He hates that you came back just for him. He hates that he saw the pain in your eyes. It drove him crazy that the pain in you was caused by him.
