Avu: Where were you at 1 PM today?

Sid: I told you I am going to college

Avu nodded.

Avu: Oh ya you were at college. Then what the hell is this?

She showed her something on phone. His breath hitched.

Sid: Avi listen

Avu:(cuts him) Shut up. What listen hnn? Why the hell you went to meet her? And then you lied me that you were at college? What's going on between you two hnn? From last 1 month, you don't answer my calls, leave my messages on seen. What the fuck is going on hnn? Don't tell you are cheating on me with my best friend

Sid looked at her with wide eyes.

Sid: Seriously Avu I never thought you will doubt me. You don't even trust me that much

Avu: So what should I do hnn? You told me you are going to college but you were at cafe with Reem. Why did you lie to me? Ok let it be you don't have any answer. You are a fucking cheat. Son of a bitch

Sid couldn't control himself and slapped her. She got tears in her eyes.

She picked up her luggage and left. Sid wanted to stop her but didn't have words.

Sidneet were in relationship since last 1 and a half year and in live in relationship since 4 months. Avneet is hella possessive about him. She can't bare any girl near him. She hates lies and most important thing for her is her self respect. They keep having arguments every now and then.

Sid sat on sofa and held his head in his hands.

At night, Sid picked up his phone and typed a message but deleted it. He again typed but again deleted it. He tried sending about 10 times but couldn't. He lied down and tried sleeping but sleep was nowhere to come in his eyes. Flashbacks of them and their recent fight was coming in her mind.

With Avu, she checked her phone for his message but there was none.

Days passed like this. Both used to pick up phone, tried texting/calling but ego used to come in between. It was Avi's birthday. All her friends, family, relatives messaged her but she just kept waiting for that one message. Everytime there was phone ring, she hopped it's him but no.

Finally at night 11:30, he called her.

Avu: Kia hi kyu call hnn? Zaroorat hi nhi thi. Ab mein bhi nhi uthaungi. Just go to hell. He tried calling many times but she didn't pick up. He gave up and messaged her.

She left the message on seen. Sid felt hurt but ignored it.

Finally one day Sid messaged her.

Can we meet once please?
Please Avi I want to meet you and clear everything. Ek baar aa jana cafe please.

She didn't reply anything. She kept thinking should she or not but she didn't go. He kept waiting for her but she didn't come. He finally gave up and went home.

Sid kept messaging her. He even tried calling but she didn't reply. Firstly she used to read her messages and leave on seen but now she even stopped that.

One day, she got a call from Reem.

Avu: Ab isse kya chahie

She picked up the call.

Avu: Hello

Reem: (shouted) Avneet come to Sid's house right now

Avu: Tu waha kya kr rhi hai

Reem: Just shut the fuck up. Iss sab ka time nhi hai. Abhi ke abhi aa yha par

Avu: Mujhe nhi aana

Reem: Look mujhe nhi pta teri kya problem hai but listen if you ever considered me your friend and Sid your love then come. Agar aaj nhi aayi na to you will loose your respect in my eyes. Please aaja. He needs you. Please it's not for me. It's for him

Avu took a deep breath.

Avu: Ok I will be there

She cut the call and left for Sid's home. As soon as she entered, she saw something and her eyes widened. Her mouth was wide open. She felt on her knees. Reem came running to her and held her shoulder.

Avu: Reem ye sab kya hai? Ye Sid aese kyu leta hai?

Reem handed her a paper. Avu looked at her. She signalled her to read. She opened the paper and read it. Tears rolled down her eyes.

Avu: Please please tell me it's a prank

Reem: No it's not. 3 months before he felt something weird and went to doctor. Doctor ne bola he has a big hole in heart. Usne tujhe bohot message kie, bohot calls kie. But you didn't pick up. He had a surgery last month but wo successful nhi thi and today morning, he called me. I came here and saw he had fainted. I called the doctor but it was too late. Sid...sid left us

She broke down. Avu couldn't understand what just happen.

Avu: N..nhi he must be pranking Reem. He will wake up right now. J...just see I will ask him to get up. Mein janti hu usse he must be pranking

Avu sat beside his body.

Reem was crying but controlled herself. She rubbed her back.

Reem: His family is coming in sometime. Then they will do all rituals

Avu picked up her phone and read his messages.

She cried keeping her head on his chest. His family came. They did the rituals with tears in their eyes. Avu felt on her knees crying. Reem was trying to console.

She had guilt more than his grief of his death.
