chapter 4 (3)

The elder nodded, signaling for silence as they pressed onward. When they finally reached the bottom, they were astonished to find... nothing. It was just an ordinary basement filled with dusty old furniture and forgotten trinkets.

Relieved yet puzzled, they turned to leave. But before they could take a step, the room seemed to warp around them. The walls stretched and faded, the air thickened, and their vision blurred. A surreal landscape emerged—a hazy, dreamlike world that felt both infinite and suffocating.

In this strange place, a voice echoed through their minds.

"Falsehood... Freedom... Seek the truth."

The words repeated, growing louder, until the pressure became unbearable. And then, everything went black.

When the siblings awoke, they found themselves sitting beside their mother, as if nothing had happened. The storm had passed, leaving only a calm stillness in its wake.

"What just happened?" the eldest muttered, still disoriented.

The youngest shook their head. "I... don't know. But those words—'falsehood' and 'freedom'—what do they mean? What is this truth we're supposed to find?"

They glanced at each other, realizing that this mystery was far from over. Though they felt an overwhelming urge to share their discovery with the rest of the family, a strange instinct warned them to stay silent. For now, this secret would remain between the two of them.
