Seven: Graduation

"I didn't think you'd have time to come to my graduation." Anna sat on a bench out in the university's quad, her graduation gown was unzipped and flapped in the breeze. She was holding a travel-size bottle of tequila. The setting sun made her light brown hair look golden. Sitting next to her, Seokjin once again marveled at how beautiful she was.

"Well, I didn't get to attend my own graduation a few days ago because of filming, so I didn't want to miss yours." He noted that she took a drink from the small bottle.

"Still, you didn't need to come to mine. I'm sure you're busy."

He scoffed. "Of course I'm here. What kind of a friend do you think I am?"

"The kind of friend who's too busy with his girlfriend."

He shook his head with a half-smile. "I'm busy with the movie actually. And Norma's not my girlfriend, Annie. She's married."

Anna took a quick sip from the small bottle. "Oh! That's right. She is, and she's not a girl, is she? She's your...your woman friend." She tipped the bottle back again.

"Hey, stop that," he admonished and reached for the bottle. "You're on campus. You can't be drinking here."

She frowned when he took the bottle and poured the last few drops out onto the grass behind the bench. He pocketed the empty bottle into his coat's inside pocket.

"What're they going to do? Un-graduate me?'' She hopped to her feet and twirled around. The breeze caught her gown and the dress she wore underneath, lifting them both up above her knees. "I'm done! I'm a graduate!"

Seokjin watched her move unsteadily. A stronger breeze pushed her dress up even higher, and he heard a wolf whistle from some guys walking by. He glared at them and pulled Anna down on the bench next to him. He adjusted her skirt.

"Hey! Annie, why don't you just sit still for a minute?" He smoothed the gown over her knees. "You know you can't handle any type of liquor."

She flashed him a big smile. "Okay, okay. I'm sitting still. Thanks for being here, Jinnie. I really appreciate it. I know how busy you are."

"I'll never be too busy for my best friend, but, yes, I've been tied up. "

She leaned into him. "I'll bet! Does Norma keep you chained to her bed?" She giggled.

"You're definitely drunk. How many other bottles have you had?" He frowned at her.

"Oh, just..." She held up two fingers. "...three." She laughed.

"Annie."

"Does Norma hold...her liquor well? I'll ... bet she does, huh?"

Seokjin rolled his eyes. "Can we not talk about her? It's really none of your business."

Anna nodded. "Yeah...yeah, it's not. You can sleep with...whoever you want. I mean, whomever." She made a face. "It is whomever, right? No...whoever--"

"I should take you home," he interrupted.

She batted her eyes at him. "You wanna take me home? Ooh, Kim Seokjin, what will you do with me when you take me home, huh? Am I whoever?"

He sighed and pulled her to her feet. "Come on."

He held her tightly as she stumbled a few times. She really could not hold her liquor. She was the type of person to get drunk on the first sip of alcohol. What had compelled her to drink even before the graduation parties started? Besides, she wasn't even 21. He helped her into the passenger seat of his car and buckled her in. The things friends have to do.
