Forty-Four: The Big Day

"Wake up, my love."

Anna felt a kiss on her forehead. For some reason, she thought it was Jin waking her up. She opened her eyes and gave a little gasp at the handsome man staring down at her. He was dressed in a navy blue and gold robe.

"Namjoon. Good morning," she said nervously. She saw him pick up a tray from a nearby table and sat up on the bed. "What's this?"

"Breakfast in bed for my princess," Namjoon said. "Today is the big day. It's your day, and I want you to enjoy every minute. I am at your beck and call." He placed the tray gently over her lap. "I will do anything you want today."

She smiled and looked down at the food on the tray. "Thank you. But what about you? You're the main reason for my success, after all. I want you to enjoy every minute as well."

He leaned down and pecked her lips.

"Well, I most definitely enjoyed last night," he replied, raising an eyebrow suggestively at her. "I enjoyed every single minute. You were a fantasy come true."

She slapped his arm playfully. "Stop, you weirdo." She felt her cheeks get warm when she remembered what had happened the previous night. Namjoon had proposed, and she had joyfully accepted. Then, of course, she had finally allowed Namjoon to make love to her. It had been an exhilarating experience. His gentleness and patience had made her first time so wonderful. Her life was falling into place, and she had to be grateful. She didn't think about her feelings for Jin anymore. Not...much.

"Let your princess eat her breakfast." She looked down at the tray. "What are you going to eat?" She glanced up and saw the sly smile on his face.

"Oh, you know what I want to eat." He winked at her and moved away. "But I'll let you finish your breakfast first. Let me know when you want Sela to come in and help you dress." Sela was the maid Namjoon had hired when he asked Anna to move in with him a month ago. She had stayed over several times but had not officially accepted his offer. He figured that, after that wonderful experience last night, she would finally move in with him.

She nodded and picked up the newspaper folded into the corner of her breakfast tray.

"Don't forget your tux for today is in the blue garment bag. It's not the one hanging at the back of your closet," she said, taking a spoonful of yogurt while opening the paper to the entertainment section. Every story was bound to be about today's awards show.

"Oh, my God!" she exclaimed.

Namjoon poked his head out of the closet. "What is it?"

Anna put the paper down. "Norma King lost her home. Bankruptcy, it says." She kept scanning through the story.

Namjoon sat at the foot of the bed. "I had a feeling that would happen. You know that Echoes of Youth bombed at the box office. That's why they rushed it through post-production. They knew it was dead in the water. Norma invested all of her own money in the picture when some major investors backed out after you were let go."

She nodded. "Yes, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Surely she hasn't lost everything."

"Well, her husband still has his money. She could always move back in with him." He shrugged. "Won't go well for her after all she's done. He's known to be the vengeful type, but she might not have a choice."

"That's terrible. I hope she'll be all right."

"You're too kind, baby," he said. "Unfortunately, it was all her own fault. Her jealousy and vanity overruled her better judgment. She chased after a much younger man, flaunting it in her husband's face. Then she insisted on replacing you. Everyone knew she was too old for the part, but she was adamant. She cost a lot of people a lot of money, and that's something not easily forgiven in this business."

"I hope Seokjin will be okay." She whispered it, but Namjoon heard.

He bit the inside of his cheek, trying to hide his displeasure. "I don't see why not. He's still a rising star and can overcome it. I mean, he gave a solid performance, but I heard that the audience laughed whenever Norma was onscreen hopping around like a young girl. The movie was a complete flop." At her questioning stare, he shrugged. "You were very busy finishing up Deliberations. I didn't want to distract you with that nonsense." He smiled again. "And now look at you. Best Supporting Actress for your troubles."

"I haven't won yet," she replied. She went back to the paper. "I wonder if he'll be there today. I can't imagine Norma showing her face, but Jin should stay away from her and keep himself in the public eye."

She didn't have to say anything else for Namjoon to feel a wave of jealousy move through his chest. The way she said it made it sound as if she hoped she would see him there. He very deliberately got up, moved the tray off the table. He shrugged off his robe and crawled back into bed.

"Namjoon, what are you doing?" she asked in surprise. "We don't have time for this."

"I will always make time for you...and this," he replied hoarsely and brought his lips down on hers. "Especially this." He pulled the covers off her body and positioned himself over her, his bulge pressing insistently against her. He trailed his lips down her jaw toward her neck. One hand reached to cup her ass and pull her into his erection, growing harder by the second. He loved her, and he had to do everything he could to erase all thoughts of Kim Seokjin from her mind. He had to break Seokjin's hold over her.
