Fifty: Crazy
"Jin? What's wrong?" Anna said almost as soon as she opened the door. He had been gone for almost four hours, and she had changed into her pajamas thinking that he might not be coming back after all.
But he stood before her. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were watery. She pulled him inside and closed the door. He stumbled, so she took his arm and led him into the living room.
"Annie, I'm...I'm sorry. I didn't mean...to show up...like this." He couldn't get the words out as he leaned against her. "She was there. Norma. She was there, and she treated me like...like..." He shook his head violently. "Why? Why...?"
Anna held on to his swaying body. "Maybe you need to lie down for a bit. The guest room is all made up. Let me help you." She led him slowly through the hallway and into a dimly-lit room. She pushed him down gently onto the large bed. "Here you go. Just rest for a bit."
"No. Don't go." He reached out a hand toward her. "P-Please don't go. I don't want to be alone."
She smiled. "Let me just get you some water. I can smell the whisky on your breath. You'll need lots of water. Why don't you take off your shoes? I can bring you something else to wear so that you can be comfortable."
"O-Okay."
She hurried to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. She detoured to her bathroom to get some pain medication for the headache he was sure to have tomorrow. She opened a drawer and pulled out a t-shirt and some long shorts that Namjoon had never worn. She sighed at the thought of him and sent a prayer for his recovery. She would be at the hospital first thing in the morning, and she was going to see him. No one was going to stop her.
"Jin." She called before entering the room. He had flung off all his clothes and was sprawled on the bed in only his boxers. She couldn't stop her eyes from gazing upon his slim body. His wide, sinewy shoulders tapered down to a small waist where washboard abs were prominently displayed. She couldn't help but notice the bulge in his boxers, but immediately averted her eyes when her breath became labored. She bit her lip, feeling ashamed of herself.
She set about folding his clothes and placing them on a nearby chair. She turned on a small bedside lamp.
Jin mumbled something and turned on his side.
Anna walked to the bed and looked down at him. His handsome face was peaceful in sleep. He had been so agitated when he had walked through the door. She wondered what had occurred with Norma and whether it had happened because he was drunk, or he got drunk because of what happened. For the millionth time, she wondered why he let Norma get to him like this. Why did he go back to her when it always ended like this?
She leaned down and brushed a strand of hair off his forehead. He had never been a big drinker, but every time he'd been drunk, he'd acted strangely. She remembered the last time he was drunk was before he won his first award. He had frightened her with his suggestion of sex.
She had been afraid then. But now, Namjoon had introduced her to the world of physical pleasure, and her body craved that sensation, that release, especially after being so wound up about Namjoon's accident. Her eyes clouded with lust when she saw Jin's unclothed body, but thinking about Namjoon stilled her body's reaction. Her fiance was in the hospital. She had no business looking at another man.
"I must be going crazy," she sighed. She had to remember that Namjoon had been wonderful to her when everything was not so great. When Jin had broken her heart, Namjoon had patched it up and made her smile. She was grateful to him and hoped that it was the same as loving him.
She glanced at Jin as he lay on the bed. What was love anyway? It was supposed to be caring and sympathetic. It wasn't supposed to be this wave of lust that was threatening to engulf her the longer she stayed close to Jin. He was her friend, no matter what he'd said before or what physical reaction he was evoking in her right now.
"This is crazy," she muttered and turned to walk out of the room.
Seokjin suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm. "Don't go, Annie. Please." He sat up and looked at her, still holding on to her.
His touch ignited flames that traveled up and down her body. She closed her eyes and knew that she was lost.
