Eight: Drunk
Anna hummed a little bit when they were in the car, but then she busied herself with looking out of the window. Seokjin drove into the parking lot of her apartment and saw that she was asleep in the passenger seat. He sighed.
He managed to get her on her feet and up one flight of stairs with some difficulty. He propped her against the wall with his hip, opened the door, and led her inside.
Anna threw her hands up. "Home, sweet home!" She kicked off her shoes and made a beeline for the couch.
Seokjin didn't let her lie down. "Hey, come on. Go into your room. Maybe you'd like to change clothes so you can sleep?"
"Sleep?" Her voice was loud. "Seokjin, don't be boring. Why would I want to sleep? I don't want ...to. I just...grat...grash...graduated, you know.'' She whirled around to face him. "Let's have some fun! We can...we can go look at the stars. Yeah. Stars. Huh? Take me out!"
He chuckled at how she looked. Her light brown hair was windblown, her graduation gown was hanging off one shoulder, and her eyes were half-closed.
"Annie, we'll go stargazing another time. I think you need to stay in. At least for tonight. You're tipsy."
She shook her head then grimaced. "Uh, no. No, I'm not...tipsy."
"You're right. You're drunk." He chuckled again and began removing the graduation gown that was off both shoulders now. "Let me help you, silly girl."
"Hm. Okay." She allowed him to take the gown, then she began unbuttoning the row of buttons on the front of her dress. "We won't go out." Her fingers fumbled with the buttons.
"Hey!" He stilled her hands. "Don't take that off yet. I'm still here, silly."
She looked into his eyes. "Oh. Let's stay in." She blinked at him. "Maybe I should take off my dress like Norma King does." She began fumbling again with her buttons. "Y-You know, like in...like in that movie when she..."
Before he could stop her, Anna pulled her dress open. Buttons bounced and scattered all around them.
"Annie! What are you doing?" Seokjin looked around and bent down to pick up the buttons. "Can you...can you please stop acting crazy?"
She kicked away the dress. "I'm not..acting crazy."
"Yes, you..." The words died on his lips when he looked up. She was pouting, standing before him in a lacy bra and boyshort set. He felt the tightness in his pants and turned his head. "Jesus, Anna. What're you doing?" He couldn't find the strength to get to his feet and let his knees hit the floor. "Put something on. Please."
She laughed. "What's wrong, Jinnie? I'm not pretty...or sexy like Norma King?" She struck a pose then stumbled.
He took a deep breath, still looking away. "You are so going to regret this in the morning." He slowly got to his feet and exhaled. He wouldn't deny that she looked beyond tempting. If she asked him, he would make love to her nonstop until morning. He closed his eyes and imagined her lithe body undulating beneath him or rocking above him, and it was too much to bear. But she wasn't asking. She was drunk and had no idea what she was doing. He knew she was still a virgin, too innocent for him to fantasize about her. And she was his friend.
She swayed a bit on her feet then wobbled her way to her bed. She dropped into it like a log.
He shook his head and pulled the comforter around her. "Go to sleep, Annie. We can celebrate tomorrow, okay?"
"Mm-hmm." Her face was half muffled by a pillow.
He carefully rearranged the pillow, not wanting her to suffocate in her sleep. The thought alarmed him. What if she was so drunk that she threw up in her sleep? Now he was nervous. He should probably stay with her, but he knew that Norma would not be pleased. She'd probably accuse him of all sorts of things. He looked down at his sleeping friend. He positioned her on her side and wedged pillows around her.
"Goodnight, you silly girl," he whispered and placed a gentle kiss on his best friend's temple.
