So I forgot there was this ova so we're going back in time for this chapter. If you know what episode I'm talking about there will be some changes but not a lot. So enjoy this Kagami special chapter.

Your POV

"God, what does our coach want this time? Now she's telling us to bring her our midterms, I hope she's not planning anything dumb." Kagami complains while looking at his scores. While both Kuroko and I walked with him as we made our way toward the gym.

"Who knows?"

"I've heard you can't go to the inter-high if you're failing," I stated as he looked at us in shock.

"Y-you're kidding!"

"Hey Kuroko l! Kagami! (F/n)-chan!"

"Furihata, Kawahara, and uh... Fukuda!" Kagami said after finally remembering their names.

"I'm sure glad you remember our name," Fukuda-kun said as we all started walking.

"So why do this now? The finals are still a long way off. Isn't it too soon?" Furihata-kun asked as we started to go downstairs.

"It might be related to the proficiency test we have in two days," Tetsu said as they seem to get used to him popping out of nowhere.

"But the proficiency test won't be counted on our grades," Kawahara-kun stated as that's news to me.

"Oh, is that right?"

"Then what's the problem? We should be practicing instead, " Kagami said as I sigh knowing full well all he thinks about is basketball.

When we arrive at the gym the coach was there waiting along with with the rest of the team. After confirming everyone was there she crossed her arms and just by the look on her face she seem a bit upset.

"We have a huge problem," she said as both me and Tetsu stood behind the guys.

"Now I'm freaked out," Fukuda-kun said quietly as we all listen to what she was about to say.

"As you all know, you have your proficiency test in two days. Of course, your grades won't be affected. However..." she stopped but Hyuga senpai began to explain the situation.

"Our school has around 300 students per grade, and they will all be ranked," Hyuga senpai stated as Izuki senpai revealed the shocking news.

"The worst 100 students will have to take remedial classes next Saturday and there lies the problem," Izuki senpai said making it all clear to our situation is at.

"Saturday... during the championship league?" Kagami asked he seemed a bit concerned.

"You got it, you can't play if you bomb the test, this is not about winning or losing anymore," Koganei senpai said as everyone finally understood our problem.

"Now I get it," Kawahara-kun as the other agreed.

"Because of that, if we think you're a risk based on your midterms, you'll be cramming at our coach's house starting tonight," Hyuga senpai said with a serious face.

"Eh, the coach's house?" The guys said as they blushed.

"We're just studying... nothing more," coach said as she got shy but turned scary the next second.

"Any idiots who might not play next Saturday should not expect any 'hijinks' tonight, " she said as the guys stood behind me in fear of her.

"Coach, you're scaring the first years," Izuki senpai said as someone hold the sleeve of my shirt. I notice Tetsu is a bit scared but he tries to not show it.

"All right, let's see those tests," Hyuga yelled as everyone gave their test to the 2nd years. I handed mine to Hyuga senpai and he thanked me.

"Here," Hyuga senpai said as he handed our results to the coach.

"Thanks," she said as she began to collect everyone's tests and look threw them.

"Furihata, Kawahara, and Fukuda... I think you're all in the clear, but study up, just in case," she said as they felt relieved.

"Sure thing!"

"Thank God."

"Next we have (F/n)-chan and just looking at her test scores I can tell I have nothing to worry about at all," She said as she smiled so happily.

'Should I be concerned or grateful for not slacking off my studies.'

Riko POV

"Up next we have..." I looked at the two last remaining members who happened to be Kagami and Kuroko.

"Sup'"

"Here"

"Perfect, the two invaluable players who are also the least predictable," Hyuga said as the guys began to look at their grades.

"Yet the future of Seirin basketball rides on their shoulders," Izuki said as I looked at Kuroko's scores.

"First we'll see what Kuroko got..." I saw he got 63, 55, 81, 49, 59, and 57.

"Wow, so average." We all said at the same time.

"N-not that they're bad, but they're not all that good either," I stated as the others agreed.

"Oh, but he's good at Japanese," Tsuchida said as Mitobe agreed.

"But it doesn't make him any less average," Koganei said.

"He did better than I expected this time," (F/n)-chan said as we all looked at her.

"What do you mean better?"

"I've been helping Tetsu study with any question he doesn't understand and teach him a simpler way for him to remember," she said as we were surprised that she's able to help him improve his grades.

"You got a 63 in Japanese history Kuroko, are you really that smart?" Kagami asked as we all looked at Kagami surprised by what he said.

"Oh God, I should've known," I said as we looked at his grades and they were not even one close to 20 points.

"So bad!" The guys yelled.

"I knew you were a moron, but I never knew you were this big of a moron!" I yelled out of anger.

"And he actually got a zero, which is amazing in itself!" Tsuchida said he couldn't believe his eyes.

"Why are you so bad at English?!" Izuki asked as we all looked at him.

"I thought you were raised in America," Kuroko said as we all thought the same thing.

"Japanese English is too formal! You just say what you want, long as people understand you!" He said (F/n)-chan seem a bit surprised herself.

"Who said you had any right to complain?!" I yelled as I flipped to the ground.

'This idiot will be our downfall.'

Hyuga POV

"You got to be joking even though I wasn't raised in America I still translate this better than you plus you translated this part wrong and you even spelled it wrong," (F/n)-chan said as I looked at it again as she was right.

"Wow... we'll all have to pinch in to help him cram," I stated as both Koganei and (F/n)-chan looked over my shoulder.

"Are you all smart enough to teach me stuff... sirs?" Kagami asked as he got kicked in the face by Riko.

"Don't doubt us!"

"Of course we are, we're smarter than you!" I stated as Koganei began to announce our place.

"Allow me to announce what these guys received in the last proficiency test! First is our captain, Hyuga Junpei, he ranked 112th out of 305."

"I'd say it's about right," I stated making sure he didn't get it wrong.

"Izuki Shun ranked 71st."

"Easier than drinking ice cocoa, ooh, that was nice!" Izuki said trying to make a joke but not so much.

"Moving on, Tsuchida Satoshi ranked 81st! Mitobe Rinnosuke was 74th and I, Koganei Shinji was 52nd." He said all proud of our places.

"Holy crap, guys! That goes especially for you, Koganei senpai," Kagami said with admiration.

"Last but not least, our coach, Aida Riko ranked 2nd!" He said which shocked him even more.

"Y-you were second? You're that smart?" He asked making her smile with pride at where she was at.

"Guess so but I'm sure between me and (F/n)-chan we might be the smartest in this team."

"But captain, I thought you'd be smarter since you wear glasses..."

"Not everyone who wears glasses is smart! Besides, I had an above-average score!" I yelled making him step back a bit.

Kagami POV

"God, who needs grades if you can shoot hoops?" I said but soon I was in a headlock by the coach.

"Any idiot can "shoot hoops" but idiots never win!" Coach yelled as shorty began to laugh.

"Oh God, I didn't know how much you and Kise are so much alike!" She said she kept laughing.

"What!"

Kise POV

"Achoo!" I sneezed as I rubbed my nose to remove any dust or allergy that may have caused me to sneeze. I went back to reading but sigh and put my book down.

"Who needs grades if you can play basketball? That whole "you won't be a starter if you flunk this test" stuff was a lie, right?" I said to myself as I lean back in my chair bored out of studying.

"How uptight is our team anyway?" I asked as I lean forward and rested my head on the table.

"I'm bored."

Your POV

After calming down from laughing at Kagami I notice him pouting like he didn't like I compared him with Kise.

"Well then starting today you're prohibited to play or practice basketball after the proficiency test is over," coach said as he was shocked by the sudden news.

"What but-"

"No buts Bakagami!" Coach said as I got a text from Midorima asking if he wanted to study together.

Sorry, I can't I have to help the guys study.

I close my phone as we all gather our things and headed back to classes seeing that we have a lot of work to do now that we know how terrible his score is at.

"(F/n)-chan do you have a minute?" Coach asked as I nodded.

"I know it's a long shot but seeing you help Kuroko improve his grade what do you suggest we should do for Kagami." She asked as I think of one or two ways to help him study.

"I may have an idea or two that might work on that idiot."

Midorima POV

As I read her message I sigh seeing she's still not talking to me. I looked at the small giraffe Keychain she gave me when we went to the zoo in our second year at teiko. It's almost like she knew I would need this one day.

'As always, you seem to know my lucky items before Oha Asa says it.'

Time skip

Your POV

As we arrive at coach house I couldn't help but admire how cute it is. I have to stop by home and grab something before we arrive and we made our way to her room. I was kinda surprised by how neat and girly it was than I thought. I thought she would have posters of men with muscle or papers of training regiment.

'Note to self never judge a book by its cover especially if it's coach.'

"We're here."

"So this is your room, coach? it's more neat and girly than I imagined," Kagami said as I sigh seeing how easily he'll get distracted.

"Sit your stupid butt down, Kagami!" Coach said as he stepped back.

"'S-Stupid butt'?" He went to sit on the floor where there was a table and all the books he'll need for studying.

"Let's begin our cram session, the proficiency tests cover five subjects. With (F/n)-chan suggestion I've assembled a team of specialists in each of those subjects," she said as I took a seat on her desk and began studying what I keep messing up.

"A team of specialists?" Kagami asked as he didn't understand what she was talking about.

"Mitobe will handle science, Kuroko has Japanese," she began to say who will be covering which subject with him.

"So she says, please prepare yourself," Tetsu said as I smile.

"W-why are you my tutor?"

"Izuki has math."

"I put the 'fun' in 'functions', ooh, classic!" Izuki senpai said to try to make a joke.

"I can't deal with this dude!"

"Hyuga has social studies."

"I'll beat the Sengoku era into your head," Hyuga said but he gave off the feeling he wasn't joking."

"That's too specific, and we haven't gotten to it yet!"

"Tsuchida has English."

"You're teaching me English... sir?"

"I got a 95 on it," Tsuchida senpai said with a smile.

"And lastly... I will be supervising the whole thing. We're the team of specialists who'll make your stupid butt smarter!" Coach said but he then looked at Koganei senpai.

"What about you, Koganei senpai?"

"He's responsible for hitting you if you doze off," I stated and he turn to look at me.

"And with this special slapstick!" Koganei senpai said as he showed him the slapstick.

"Koganei is neither good nor bad at any subjects. He's a true ungifted academic!" Coach said making Koganei senpai a bit down by her words.

"We also got a special someone here too," I stated as he didn't know what I was talking about until he barked.

"Nigō? Where'd he come from?" Kagami said as he stayed away from Nigō. Since he has a fear of dogs who better to have him stay than a dog blocking his path.

"Nigō will be our guard dog that'll make sure you don't escape," Hyuga senpai said as Nigō barked.

"Stay back, go get lost!" Kagami said as he try to Nigō away from him.

"Now here's our two-day schedule!" Coach said as I notice one tiny mistake.

"Wait! When do I sleep!?" He asked.

"He will literally be up day and night until the test, won't he?" Tetsu said I may start to rethink this wasn't the best choice for him after all.

"But I heard that all-nighters are not very efficient

"You're the last person to talk about 'efficiency'!"

"You wrote that word down as 'bear graduation' on the writing test," I stated remembering how terrible he did.

"Man, you're thorough," Tsuchida senpai mumbled as coach ignored his words.

"Staying up for two days won't kill anyone. All right, first, we'll do math!" She said as Izuki step first.

"Come, let's do a sine, cosine, cossack dance! Learn the formulas by moving our bodies!" Izuki said with enthusiasm.

"I can't deal with this guy!" Kagami said he began to escape only to get stopped by everyone. All night we studied each topic and by looks of it he's having a hard time and not making much progress.

Time skip morning

As we walk to school Tetsu quizzed him on some biology questions that would be on the test but every question he got wrong as we stop at the crossing light but Kagami kept walking.

"Kagami!" I grab the back of his shirt and pull him back to our side before he got run over by a truck.

"Holy crap!"

"Well that was a close one," I said as I'm starting to worry now.

'Forget the championship can he even survive the test.'

Kagami POV

As the day went on I doze off some part of the lesson until it was time for lunch. I was ready to get some food in my system when the door to our classroom opened.

"Kagami!"

"Oh, Izuki senpai."

"We're spending lunchtime in the library doing factors. Oh, can we factor in some of that lunch? Woah, that was sweet!" He said ad he closed the door.

"Now I want to kill him," I mumbled as I felt annoyed that my lunch time is being spent on studying too.

"I don't think he has any ill intent," Kuroko said from behind me.

"He's right, in fact, everybody is doing this because they need you," shorty said as she pulled out a lunch box in front of me.

"Eat this while your studying, and don't complain about it," she said as she got up and walked away.

"I know that, but..." I sigh felt like defeated from studying.

"Idiots can't play in the championship league, let alone that inter-high. We said we wanted to beat miracles and become the top in Japan. So this is no time to slip up... not with three more to beat, dammit!" I stated as I wanted to know how strong those other three are, but if I fail I'll never know either.

"We need you in order to beat them, Kagami," Kuroko said as I looked back but left.

Kuroko POV

After what Kagami said I wanted to help him in some way, but I remember something that Midorima gave me and (F/n)-chan. I looked for it in my pencil case and sure enough, it was still there. I only use it on exams and multiple choice questions that I have idea what the answer is, but Kagami needs this more than I do.

"Kagami," I called out to him as he try to study at his desk.

"What?"

"This is the last resort, if everything else fails, use this," I let the pencil roll as he grabbed it to see what it is.

"What's this? It got numbers on it," he said as (F/n)-chan came back from wherever she went.

"Tetsu remind me to buy some new study guides after this," she said as she notice the pencil.

"You're going to let him use that?"

"What is this?!"

"Midorima gave that to me in middle school and he gave one to (F/n)-chan. It's a pencil roller made out of a Yutori Tenjin Shrine pencil," I explained as he got mad.

"I don't need this thing!" He yelled as he threw the pencil but only to get shot back to pierce his forehead.

"What the hell?!"

"Careful Bakagami, it will attack you if you defy it," (F/n)-chan said as he cried out of pain.

Time skip

Your POV

'I just want to sleep is that too much to ask?' I rested my eyes as Hyuga senpai went on about something that won't be on the test. At least until Tetsu lets him know but he still went on about it. Almost everyone is exhausted and is reaching their limits.

"Please excuse I need some fresh air," I said as I excuse myself trying to not fall asleep. Once out of her house, I began stretching my sore muscles that have been doing nothing but sitting. Not long after Hyuga senpai came out along with Nigō, saying he was going to the convenience store and to take Nigō for a walk. As he left I sigh and walked around a bit to keep my brain working.

"What are you doing out here?" Kagami asked as I looked at him.

"Change of scenery is good for the body, what about you? Shouldn't you be with the others?" I asked as he sigh.

"I ask to leave to go to the bathroom but I can't stand sitting there anymore," he said I couldn't help but agree with him.

"Want to walk a bit with me?" I asked as he sigh and nodded. We began to walk to the empty streets which was quite relaxing. It wasn't long until we reached that basketball court that many kids come to play street ball. Then something came into mind that may help Kagami study.

"Hey Kagami let's try something different, I'll ask you a question and if you get it right I'll let you shoot a basket," I suggested as he smiled and agreed. As I asked question after question I was a bit surprised that he knew it and made the shot.

'As I expected this idiot needs to be moving for him to be focused but sitting still causes him to lose focus.' I asked him another question and he answered it correctly.

"Alright, what are the names that help find the ratio of the Right-Angled Triangle?"

"Sine, cosine, Tangent!"

"Correct, you can shoot," I said as he took the shot.

"What are the first nine chemical elements in the periodic table?"

"Here He Lies Beneath Bed Clothes!" He said as he remembered what it meant.

"What happens in 794?"

"In 794, the old capital was built before..." He said as he slam dunk the ball and took a breath. I was about to ask him the question again only to see Nigō now holding the ball captive.

"Nigō?" I looked up and see everyone looking at us.

"What do you think you're doing?" Hyuga senpai asked as they came towards us.

"Is this your way of studying?" Tetsu asked as Kagami grabbed when Nigō ran to Tetsu.

"Well my true nature was getting in the way of all that sucky cramming," Kagami said as I sigh.

"Turns out he can learn better if he can focus on one goal at a time. Therefore, I thought shooting hoops might help him learn better," I said as they seem a bit surprised.

"I get it now," Tsuchida senpai said as looked at my watch.

"Izuki senpai said that he should move his body, so you could say I took his advice seriously and it seem to work well for him." When I said that I felt a bit embarrassed seeing how I seriously took his joke in a figurative way.

"Anyway, I'll definitely play next Saturday," Kagami said as he bounced the ball.

"Kagami"

"God, I can't even get angry at you," coach said as Hyuga senpai agreed with her.

"We have a few hours before the test starts, so let's get some last-minute studying in," I said as Koganei senpai seem enthusiastic about it.

"All right, final stretch, gang! Let's go for broke!" He said with a fist up.

"We'll help you out, Kagami!" Tsuchida senpai said as Nigō barked agreeing with us.

"Thanks."

"Wait a minute, your legs!" Coach said ad I just remembered about his injury.

"You're still injured from the Shutoku game!" Hyuga senpai yelled as I smacked my face.

"Oh yeah," Kagami said as he just remembered about his injury.

"I completely forgot about your injury as well," I mumbled as thought of another way to keep him moving. I grab the ball from his hands and began to spin the ball on one finger until I got an idea.

"Alright Kagami I got an idea how you can still play without moving and it helps you keep the ball away from our opponents."

Hyuga POV

As Kagami was moving the ball as (F/n)-chan told him to do he was reading what would help him in Japanese. While the rest of us stood far away to not distract him Riko was standing beside Kuroko to make sure he didn't slack off.

"This is so boring, I can't retain it!" Kagami yelled.

"At least you're holding a ball!" Riko yelled as I couldn't help but smile.

"Senpai?"

"What is it?"

"I need to get my things before heading to school so I'm going on ahead," (F/n)-chan said as began to walk away.

"Alright see you at school later," she waved and I wonder how lucky we've been to just befriend her. She still has that iron wall up but little by little she opens up to us.

'I assume Kagami may have something to do with this, but that can wait for now him passing this test is our top priority.'

Kagami POV

'Even with all that cramming, it's just as I predicted. I won't get enough points in the last four subjects to make up for one!" I was stressing out seeing that I might have to take remedial classes.

'And this last one is my worst subject ever: Japanese!' I couldn't ask for help with Kuroko or shrimpy.

'Which one of these four choices best describes how the hero feels?... How would I know?! We'd all have it easy if we knew each other's feelings!... No! You've worked too hard to quit now!' I skip the question and would go back to it once I reached the end but it was the same thing I looked at the pencil Kuroko gave me and I had no choice but to swallow my pride and roll the pencil.

Kuroko POV

"Well it's finally over!" (F/n) said as she stretched her sore muscles.

"So Kagami you think you did goo#?" She asked as we looked at him laying on his desk.

"Kagami?"

"Kagami, did you really..." I assumed he did what I think he did as he was ashamed about it.

"Shut up, all I could do was roll that stupid pencil," he confessed as (F/n) started to giggle a bit.

"Is that so."

"I'm done for!" He yelled as we both looked at each other and smile.

"Cheer up Bakagami I'm sure you did fine, now let's get some food in our stomachs," (F/n) said as we all got up to the school store to see what we can get to eat.

Your POV

After all that studying I wasn't surprised about being first in my grade. Tetsu did average so he was safe from remedial classes and the one we were worried about the most hadn't shown us what place he got.

"Kagami, how'd you do?!" Hyuga senpai yelled as he and the rest of the second years were behind him and made their way to him. He showed them their paper and he got 90 out of 308 students.

"You're kidding, How?!" Coach was shocked along with the others.

"Forget the bottom 100, he made it into the top 100!"

"Huh? What? You got a 98 in Japanese!?" Koganei senpai said as coach read everything to make sure it wasn't a mistake.

"So how did you do it?" Tsuchida senpai asked as Kagami seem a bit ashamed.

"Well... all I did was roll that pencil." He confesses.

"Huh, a pencil?"

"What's this, Yutori Tenjin?" Tsuchida senpai said as I trying not to laugh.

"It's a pencil roller made by Midorima," Tetsu explained to him shocking Tsuchida senpai more.

"And you got 98 with this? That Midorima's freaky!" He said seeing it so well.

"Say what you will, but at least nobody has to take remedial classes," coach said with relief I notice Hyuga senpai walk towards the wall behind me but it seems no one notice him walking over there.

"Yeah, thank god for that."

"Let's set our sights on winning the championship league," Koganei senpai said as everyone agreed with him. At least until they finally notice Hyuga senpai not cheering with them.

"Huh? What's wrong Hyuga? No way! You're crying?!" Coach said as she notice his tear.

" I just... I can't believe I lost to Kagami! I'm not even an idiot!" He mumbles loudly.

"Senpai, you do realize that Kagami didn't earn it on his own, right?" I said as I looked towards Kagami and see him crying too.

"Why are you crying?!"

"I feel... like I've lost to Midorima," he said which confused the coach a bit

"Huh?"

"I can't believe I had to rely on that punk! Goddammit!" Kagami yelled as sigh seeing how stupid he can be.

"Gosh, what is wrong with you people?"

" I suggest that we leave them alone, men have their pride, you know," Tetsu said as he looked at Hyuga senpai who was still crying.

"You boys are such a chore," coach said as she notice my paper.

"So what place did you get (F/n)-chan?" Coach asked as I handed my paper to her.

"What?!" She yelled as the guys read it too.

"1 out of 308!" They yelled seeing I out-ranked her top spot. At the same time, Hyuga senpai and Kagami yelled too.

"Why the hell?!"

"Goddammit! You'll pay for this Midorima!"

'Well seems like it back to training for us.' I cough a bit feeling my throat a bit sore.

'Must be from all that yelling the other day.'
