Tres - 3
I love science.
I love everything about it.
Science is simply a word we describe as a method organizing our curiosity.
I love chemistry. Especially the dark, changing colors, bubbles and changing states.
And we can't forget the goggles!
I have these really cool ones where the rim changes colors in the sun! I'm not sure where they are though.
I love biology. The complexity of living things and how they interact with each other, and the environment thrills me. Waiting for baby chicks to hatch is pretty time consuming but the process is worth it!
I love human anatomy since the human body is one of the most complicated and fascinating living forms on Earth. Did you know that your heart beats around one hundred thousand times a day, three hundred and sixty-five million times a year, and over a billion times if you live beyond thirty?
Isn't that cool?
Oh Science.
Quietly sighing I finish drawing the stem of the brain in my notebook.
Science set limits to knowledge but should not limit the imagination. Mamà always told me during bath time when I was covered in mud from finding beautiful rocks in Señora Theresa's Garden that I had a usual gift of love for the world.
She said I flew like a pájaro (bird) in flight, making what others thought was impossible appear easy and natural to me.
She believed in me and my gifts.
That's why Mamá and Papà worked incredibly hard to get me here, to attend the prestigious University of Maryland Nursing school program.
Nursing School is a science lover's dream who couldn't make it to becoming an astronaut.
That is only one reason why I am here.
I read so many things about how nursing school is great for kinetic learners like me. It is a playground for me! I mean drawing blood, starting IV's, touching patients, and connecting medical equipment together sounds like a dream but what teachers and counselors didn't warn me about was the long, eight- hour lectures and become a good test taker for the NCLEX.
Chocolate milk only last in my system for two hours so eight hours is tiring to me.
Thankfully Max has a break so she brings it during my mini breaks. But I really need to tell her to get Nesquik kind instead of that healthy horizon organic brand.
There is definitely a taste difference.
I slump my shoulders and jot down another key point. Professor Khan states we need to know, hinting it will be on the first exam. She is infamous for tough questions.
"What did she say about lab value was again for intracranial pressure?" Carly, a friend I made in the nursing program whispers.
"The normal range is intracranial pressure is five to fifteen." I whisper back grasping my lilac paper mate felt tip pen.
I wish Carly would pay attention and not be on Tik tok. I furrow my brows trying to cancel out Carly shuffling through her pencil case.
"Assessing cranial homeostasis is critical because it is the foundation of what is going on in the body," Professor Khan concludes the presentation.
With a cursive flourish, I put bold asterisks in my notes around cranial assessments to prepare for studying.
"Exam One is next Friday, so I recommend reviewing CNS pathology, diagnostics, important labs, and perfusion," Professor Khan continues, pressing the remote to roll up the projector screen.
"She literally did not go over any of that." Carly huffs.
"Totally did." Spencer bright white smile beams combing through his sandy brown hair.
My one only guy friend from the beginning of freshman year. The only guy Max approves for now.
"I'm sure you have the whole test written out Lizzie" Spencer shoots me a wink with his dazzling hazel eyes.
"Nooo" Heat arise on my cheeks as I shrink down in my seat.
He chuckles and bites his lower lip. "Seems like it." He points at my long sheet of notes.
Spencer, another study group member, reminds me so much of my brother Mateo. He always needs supervision when it comes to reminding him of homework or getting distracted by wanting to do a Tik Tok about our stressful experience in nursing school.
He is a hard worker though.
Spencer's reasoning of why he is becoming a nurse would melt even the coldest of hearts. His little sister would appreciate his efforts a lot.
He is a true Flynn Ryder. I'm surprise girls not at his feet.
The corner of my lips turn down at Professor Khan passing out our course lab calendar.
"Are there any questions?" Professor Khan raises her right brow, which is heavy and thick.
Silence takes over the room as Professor Khan scans her eyes around the amphitheater.
"All right, before you all leave, I want to say there is a tutoring opportunity position available at the Academic Center for the Science department. I think it'd be a fantastic opportunity, and it's a quick twenty-five bucks an hour," Professor Khan lips twitch but none of us seem to care, given that we've just been here for four hours listening to her rigorous lecture.
I do need a second job. Waitressing paycheck only stretches for at least a week sometimes a few days with my Etsy addiction. I wish I could hear back from that prn student nursing position, I applied like two weeks ago.
I puff the air quietly, trying to think happy thoughts instead of wanting to scream having to wait so long. This is my third application applying to work in health care but it's not easy being an international student and inexperience one at that.
"Hey, Lizzie! Let's do a study group in the library after the simulation lab at six?" Carly chimes to me in a hushed tone.
"Sure" my lips curl up slightly at her trying to listen to Professor Khan recite something I missed because it's probably on the exam.
After two years, I know Carly's tricks of the trade. She never really told me why she actually wants to be a nurse.
She seemed like she got in here as a breeze with her last name that has strong ties according to Max.
Max doesn't like her, but that's Max, she doesn't like anyone.
I know it's that it's not any of my business, but most people here have a purpose here.
A why.
Like me.
"Great, I have no idea what she said." Carly chuckles quietly as she shuts her wordless notebook.
Go figure.
"I'm joining. Oh, and Happy National Whipped Cream Day!" Spencer whispers.
"Thanks Spencer!" Warmth spreads across my chest because I thought he forgot.
He didn't join me in the cafeteria this morning with Lexi and I. He had some kind of an appointment with the Athletics department.
I was really excited this year. The cafeteria workers at the college had a whip cream bar with all kinds of flavors. I may or may not have used all the chocolate can of whip cream.
It was so yummy perfect mixture of sweet and heavily goodness with my chocolate chip pancakes.
"I'll bring food," Jessica, the last member of my study group, chimes brightly because Professor Khan now excused us.
Jessica always brings healthy snacks, somehow, I think it's Max's doing because the family sticks together. However, she sold me on her ants on a log last week, so she is improving. Jessica sure is going to be a great nurse getting her patients to eat healthy.
I'm still not sure how she is doing a double major right now. Her brain is bigger than mine according to Max.
If it's anyone who can get me to eat a vegetable, it's Jessica.
"Definitely ants on a log." My eyes stretch wide and Jessica snickers.
"I'll do my best." She winks, adjusting the straps of her book bag.
Spencer rests his arm on Jessica's shoulder looking down at me. "You need a ride today? We could go to sweet frog and get some free whip cream there."
Frozen yogurt sure does sound good after this class but I already made plans with Lexi.
"No thanks, Lexi is getting me. We are going to target." tucking my pen in my book shutting it.
"I'll go Spence! I really could go for the mudslide!" Carly sips out of her teal Stanley cup.
"Thanks for the invite Spencer, you guys have fun." I neatly put my papers into my purple folder.
"Oh...okay." Spencer sighs. "Well I'll see you at the library." I look up at him who is already standing. He had a faint smile and waves at me. He looks down at his feet. Jessica takes a sip of her purple Stanley cup as her eyes bounce back and forth at us.
"I'll bring you something back." Spencer assures.
"I would love that, definitely Yellow cake batter which extra-"
"Sprinkles." Spencer's corners of his mouth lifts.
Spencer always offers me a ride with him but I much prefer to walk back and especially today it such a nice day.
"Bye Lizzie!" Jessica beams.
"I'm coming wait!" I scribble down an answer Professor Khan corrected I over hear from a student.
I knew I heard Mannitol not Tylenol.
Oh Spencer.
I giggle closing my textbook and sticking it in my book bag.
"Alright well see you around!" Carly concludes.
"I'll be just...a.... seco-nd" I look up to see them already out the door.
Twisting my lips, I watch them scurry out. I actually wanted to walk out with them, but I guess they were glad to escape while they can.
Knowing Spencer is probably having heart palpitations about this exam coming up. I'm not sure why he is so worried. He has a ninety-three in the class, which reminds me I need to talk to Professor Khan about how to keep my ninety-five.
I close my spiral notebook and pack it in my White and Purple LOVEVOOK book bag that Lexi bought me. According to Lexi, she was sick of looking at the raggedy, multi-colored crossbody bag I got at the street-market. It is pretty vintage with all the loose strings, but it's been surviving its purpose on many occasions.
However, I still carry it to make Lexi grimace at my out-of-date fashion accessories for nursing school. I remind her that it's culture and that luxury items only degrade with time.
As I make my way down the steps, I glance over at Professor Khan packing her belongings.
"Elizabeth," Professor Khan stops me, prompting me to swivel on my crocs to look at her.
"Yes?" My attention shifted away from her intimidating stare.
Professor Khan - You either on her good side or bad side. She drinks Nursing Students tears breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thankfully, I made sure she only drank mine few times when I failed my first two exams in the beginning.
I made sure I step up my game and got on her good side on National Homemade Bread Day.
I knew the bread marker was a good purchase.
"Here, I think you'd be the perfect fit out of everyone," Professor Khan hands me the tutoring flyer.
"Thank you," I quietly squeak.
"The deadline is tomorrow, so please submit your availability to Ms. Nusbaum." Professor Khan insists and maintains eye contact with me that compels me to look away.
"Thank you," I whisper, holding the blue flyer.
"You will do great." Professor Khan compliments.
I smile at her and walk out of the lecture hall without saying anything else. I glance down the flyer and read about this opportunity that Professor Khan feels I'll do exceptionally well at.
Twenty-five dollars per hour, Tutoring is required in the following subjects: Chemistry (superb), Earth Science, Biology, Human Anatomy, Physics (ahhhh a rainbow product working for your beauty and appreciation), and Microbiology (mmmm that's one science category I'm not fond of).
I furrow my eyebrows, remembering the unpleasant Microbiology course I had with Professor Dodd and his robotic tone. He could have made germs and bacteria sound a little bit more fun.
My forehead tenses as I think back to how boring he made our labs. But all thanks to Spencer's microbiology jokes, it was more bearable, especially the doodle he gave me of the bacteria e coli and drew it with a sombrero saying el coli. I still have that taped up at my study desk at home.
Spencer makes great cartoon-
"Lizzie!"
I turn to see Spencer coming from a corner. I wave and walks up to my side.
"I thought you left?" I arch my brow.
"Sorry I had to use the bathroom." His shoulders bounce.
"It's okay." I playfully bump in to his arm.
He laughs and bumps back. "Hey uh, did you want to go to IHOP later after studying?"
"It really." The automated doors open, and I leave the nursing building. Because of the bright sun in my eyes, I hiss involuntarily like Dracula. "All depends when I get back with Lexi." My right-hand lifts to protect my eyes from the light as I sweep the student parking lot for Lexi's Ruby Red Toyota Camry.
It's nowhere to be found and I'm not surprised that she's late. She says it's good to be fashionably late but we all know she just loses track of time getting lost in Travel Blog YouTube videos.
"Well let me know, I feel bad not celebrating today with you." His voice lowers.
"It's okay Spencer their always other days to celebrate." I touch the back of his arm which warmed up.
"Right," he combs his fingers through hair. "Well I'll see you later. You want me to wait with you for Lexi?"
I twist my lips, "nooooo" as my lips curl up because Spencer mocks my voice.
Spencer curls his lips, "Allll right, don't turn into a snow girl." He teases flashing a toothy grin.
Bouncing my shoulders, he points back with his thumb in a teasing way and I cover my mouth with my lips as giggles slips out. Watching Spencer dance his way to his car.
Spencer is the best. I wish guys were like him.
As he makes it across the parking lot his shoulders slump. My eyes focus in on Lexi slowly driving up while the bass of her car rumbles through the parking lot.
Some nursing students from my class smile at Lexi as she dances in her car wildly. My cheeks flush, and I keep my head down as I go to her car, trying not to draw attention to myself.
When I get in and shut the door, I am welcomed into a Beyonce Concert.
Lexi passionately sways back and forth holding onto her steering wheel. Bouncing my shoulders, I buckle my seatbelt as she continues to Drunk in Love.
"We be all night, Love, We be all night," Lexi serenades me.
The quick embarrassment washes away at Lexi's head bouncing rhythmically to the beat making me mused at how it synchronically I match her energy.
I get my phone from my jean pocket to capture this moment for Max, for playing her song without her. When both of them sing this, it sounds like street alley cats with their two vastly different accents.
"I want your body right here, daddy, I want you, right now," The music fades slowly as she whines her hips in the seat as she dancing on a cute boy.
It better not be Wilmer Valderrama!
I furrow my eyebrows to stop the recording.
"Don't worry I was dancing on Michael B Jordan," Lexi teases, turning down Campus Drive, circling around the hill with the 'M' on it.
"Better be!" I giggle, editing Lexi's Instagram video.
"How was classsssss?" Lexi prolongs the 's' like a mother might about asking how her child's day was.
"Same thing, nothing to help me become a better nurse," I mumble, uploading the video to my Instagram story.
"Hey, whatever you learn, I'll still come to you for help when I have a stomachache," Lexi jokes and I sigh thankfully.
She not lying since being in Nursing School I have been Max and Lexi's home nurse.
Especially Max she is always getting injured in basketball. Last night, I had to ice her nose because one of her teammates accidently threw the ball at her too fast... again.
"How did your class go?" I smile, turning in my seat towards Lexi.
Lexi is an English major, but her minor is in Journalism. That's her passion because she wants to be just like her dad. Lexi dad is a news anchor for Philadelphia with WCAU. It's not exactly what Lexi wants to do but she definitely has the tv personality for it.
"A complete drag." She groans dramatically and I snicker.
"Journalism is not a drag," I note, watching her face droop.
She rolls her eyes "It is when you don't like the topic."
"And what was that?"
"We need to conduct interviews with Engineering students," Lexi turns up her nose as if she smells something unpleasant.
"STEM majors are fascinating you know, I'm one of them," I joke, but she scoffs at me with a smile.
I will proudly advocate for my people.
"I can't wait to write about traveling, and really show off what I got," Lexi exclaims and reaches to turn the volume up to Woman by Doja Cat on the radio. "Sooooo, have you considered going with Max and I this Friday Night? I'm off" Lexi sings with her voice at the end. She darts into the left lane, cutting off a car making me grab the oh crap handle.
After Mr. Telenovela man left Lexi started spewing off ideas on my first night out of the town with Max restrictions which tend to be a lot since my time in college.
But I couldn't be anymore thankful because I have been able to focus on studying. Most college students would think I have lost my mind not going to any parties or the bar. But I rather keep my A in Nursing school.
"I did, but I have to study for at least two hours, you know this." I recite.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, study to save lives" Lexi mocks my elevator speech.
Lifting up my chin and smiling "Thats right!" holding my finger in the air. Lexi rolls her eyes with a playful smirk.
In nursing school, if you miss one day of reading, then you miss the entire semester and I'm not exaggerating either.
"Do you know where you want to go Friday Night? I was thinking more going to my job at Terrapin's Turf that's safe." She assures, stopping at the red light. Shifting in her seat looking at me with widen eyes "Or Looneys? O we could go to Decade in DC!"
"I guess we could do that" I shrug.
Lexi squeals like a child who sees a pony during her birthday party. "We got to get this outfit right. I can't have you lookin basic!" Lexi sass as she waves her finger in a half circle.
"Okay" Bouncing my shoulders, I gaze out the window at the overcast and sigh. I know my little sister Isabela would have love to pick out my outfit for me. She always did.
I need to call her.
Glancing at my space anklet the moon itches my ankle reminding me of her because even though we are far apart we still see the same moon and I love her from the moon and back.
"Lizzie's going to party... she going to get naughty." Lexi sings, bouncing her shoulders side to side.
It's a big deal for her and a colossal deal for Max.
My ideal Friday night is catching up on my telenovelas with Conor with a side of cookies. Sometimes jumping on my bed and dancing to Mindless Behavior. I can't wait for this week's episode is going to be a jaw dropper.... Maybe I shouldn't go. Valentina finally is going to tell Juan how she truly feels.
Twisting my lips, Lexi fiddles with the radio. "You think there will be cute guys?"
"Now you know my opinion about the guys here on campus nothing compared to Bowie State or Howard but there is a couple of options." Lexi raves, nodding her head confirming with a sly smile.
"I never see them." furrowing my brows.
It's true.
Number one, for some odd reason whenever we go out there is no guys insight. Number two guys I've encountered here at UMD thus far are not really interested in brown girls sadly. If anything, I wouldn't have time for a relationship or situationship Max calls it because nursing school is the only loveless relationship, I'm in.
"Because you never looked." She points at me with her coffin shape olive green nails.
Drawing my eyebrows together. "Don't make me go there."
Lexi throws her head back and smiles. "We only do it to protect you."
The last time a guy approach me to ask directions to his new apartment where we live and lets just say Max made sure he doesn't ask me directions again. I don't even think he lives in the same building anymore.
"Are you looking now?" shifting my focus away from my lack of telenovela romance.
Lexi holds the steering wheel tightly. "Mmm, it's good to just be single." She hums as she gets takes a deep breath.
"You know you deserve the world," I encourage her.
"Aw, thanks Aladdin," Lexi deflects, as she pats my leg.
I notice the intersection as we make a stop at the light. "Target Run?" I joke, arching my eyebrow.
"Yes, I just need anything to take my mind off, Derek," Lexi mentions softly.
"I'm sorry Lexi," I frown, watching sadness begin to cloud her face.
"He texted me this morning and asked if I wanted breakfast, and I naïvely agreed," Lexi admits, pushing a strand of curly black hair away.
I bite the inside of my cheek, refusing to give her advice on his toxic masculinity. If it's one thing I know from watching telenovelas.
"He said he misses me...... misses us... " She pauses as the brightness in her eyes dim. "I...I... I'm not sure what to believe," Lexi says quietly towards the end.
"Do you believe he changed?" I comb my fingers through my hair.
"No," she mumbles while she turns into the Target parking lot.
"Well, as a friend and sister, you deserve to be happy right now. And focus on your dreams; you are almost there. You don't need a man to validate that. You know that Lexi." I quiet my voice at the end.
"Why do you have to be so honest?" Lexi moans, unbuckling her seatbelt.
I laugh as I unbuckle my belt and pull my wallet from the front pocket of my bookbag. "Because you and Max would murder each other without me," I snark and Lexi shakes her head in agreement.
"What are you getting... this time?" I puzzle, looking at Lexi while grabbing a red plastic cart.
Lexi bats her long eyelashes before tossing her large electric blue Marc Jacobs tote bag into the cart's top section. "A few things." she turns up her nose playfully.
"Alexis," I drag, arching my eyebrow at her, but she only snickers in response.
A few things could be anything a new living room set or a new kitchen countertop. We are definitely not getting our deposit back.
"Please allow me to have a small retail therapy session," Lexi begs as we walk in the automatic doors.
"What could we possibly need now?" I grumble, but my attention is drawn to a lovely white top on a mannequin.
"Ooo girl, I know you see what I see," Lexi ignores me and pushes the cart to the clothing section.
My tiny legs can hardly keep up with her long strides. By the time I get to her, she's already throwing tops in the cart.
"Okay, Lizzie, with this lantern sleeve top with some tight high waisted jeans, guys will be all over you!" Lexi babbles quickly. She holds up a floral lace sheer long sleeve top. "Oh, and you're welcome to borrow my leather jacket!" Lexi adds as she skims her hands through the clothing rack quickly.
"So, what is college nightlife like?" I hold a cute satin white corset tube crop top to my chest.
"Honestly, it's just a lot of drinking, drama, toxic men, sex, and drugs," Lexi expresses, loading her favorite choices into the cart. We continue to walk around the store as she tells me about every aspect of parties that turns me off yet fails to mention one thing I only like going to parties for.
"What about dancing?" I stipulate, smelling a candle.
I haven't danced since Tía Alma's Cuadragésima (Fortieth) birthday and after that night I could barely walk. I snicker at how we danced all night until literal sunrise.
"Oh yeah, and it's about time you showed up these white girls especially Max she needs a wakeup call" Lexi jokes, as we make out to the checkout line.
"That's not nice, Lexi," I chastise her, so she furrows her eyebrows at me.
"I know, I know jeez, saint Elizabeth." Lexi grumbles, and I snicker.
"And the music?" I inquire, adding pineapple trident gum.
"Could be better but Nick from my Sociology class is going to be the DJ this Friday at the Turf, so it will be Bumpin." She snickers.
"Do you have the moves, Lexi?" I tease, emphasizing my thick accent as I hula my hips seductively to the inaudible music in Target. Lexi's eyes light up at my audacious action.
"I'm already loving this," Lexi giggles, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
Pulling out my wallet, Lexi smacks my hand down, silently ordering me not to even think about it. I offer her a sheepish glance, but she scowls as if she hates me. It's not like we both have jobs, however the people who tip her actually give the big dollars for showing off her mangoes. I can't really do that at my restaurant, although my coworker Elena does and it's worked out for her.
Maybe I should consider working at the bar, how hard could mixing drinks be? I'm sure it's just as simple as mixing vinegar and baking soda.
I giggle but hold up my begging stares as she pays for our purchases.
Lexi keeps telling me how ecstatic she is on the way back to the car that I'm actually going out with them. All I could do was smile and nod at her passionate zeal for fixing her and my hair, making Max envy, and finally giving a run for her money.
I smile and shake my head because the two are absolutely night and day.
I wonder where I fit into that.
As we get into the car, Lexi laughs and tells me that Max gets free drinks from the soccer team while she lures them in for free food at Galaxy Sports bar, their hangout spot. The soccer team does have cute guys. I'll give them that. She reasons that it's all part of the system of finessing their way to a good time.
Lexi pulls out of her parking spot, telling me about all the locations she wants to take me before the end of the year. She began talking about The Lobby Bar, a high-end bar, and how she's always wanted to go salsa dancing at Coco Cabana on University Boulevard
Still wonder how I fall into that.
When I stare out the vehicle window, I can't help wondering why Lexi and Max haven't given up on me and instead show me their love and appreciation. I turn over to see Lexi bobbing her head to another Beyonce classic, and my shoulders shake as I silently laugh.
"I'll make lunch for atonement," I promise, coming out of my train of thought.
"Don't worry about it, Lizzie," Lexi assures me.
Silence takes over the car as Lexi hums to the lyrics to Alright by Kendrick Lamar. Glancing down at my phone, I see a text from my little sister pulling my lips up into a smile as I read it.
Isabelly: Happy Whipped Cream Day!
Isabelly: [Video]
Snicking at the photo of Mateo whacking his hand on his nose with whipped cream tugs my heart. Replaying the video a few times, an email notification pops up.
"I hope i get it" I mumble.
"Get what?" Lexi answers.
Waiting to catch a hint a Wi-Fi, I sigh. "A Nurse Extern Job."
"Thats cool for what unit" Lexi snaps her head to me with a curious expression as we wait at a red light.
"The emergency room at the local hospital. Cinco de Mayo is driving me loco. I don't know how more I can take working there." I cross my eyes, making Lexi laugh.
Working at Cinco is a disgrace and I wish I never step foot in there but... in an odd, demented way... it feels like home.
"Oh, good ol' restaurant life. Well, that's good Lizzie." Lexi smiles while turning back on campus property.
"Thanks." I look down at my white converse, moving them up a bit.
"You'll do great! Did you get an interview?"
"I'm not sure I haven't really heard anything back, but I saw an email. So I'm hoping this it."
Refreshing my email app, I see an email subject that makes my breath hitch.
Congratulations Elizabeth! Here's your next step.
My heart warms up with the thought of finally getting to have experience doing what I love.
"So, is there anything?" Lexi anxiously watches me when I keep reading instructions on the next steps for the interview.
"I got an interview" I say softly, causing a high-pitched shriek to pierce the car and my ears.
"THAT'S AWESOME!" Lexi exclaims proudly and pulls into her parking spot.
"When should I schedule the interview?" I ask while unbuckling my seatbelt and picking up my bookbag and Target bag.
I really need to go to the MVA soon but the last time I was there I wanted to bang my head in the wall for waiting to find out I need proof of address.
"Well, I'm available Friday, so schedule Friday and after that, we can get ready for the night" Lexi's smile widens, just full of delight.
"Is Max home? I wonder if she will be ready for lunch?" I question while we walk to the front entrance of our condominium.
"Probably not, she has her two o'clock class. What are you making?" Lexi's brown eyes sparkle as she holds the door open for me.
"What do you have a taste for?" I hum, waking up the stairs at our building.
"OOO! Can you make that stuff where it's like rolled up in a corn tortilla and had like meat in it?"Lexi licks her lips and stops in front of our front door.
"Oh, you mean a flauta?" I translate and watch her dig through her purse for the house key.
"Yeah, that, and make the sauce spicy so Max can't eat it"Lexi gloats, inserting the house key in the door.
"Lexiii" I scold
She smiles "I know I know" her eyes flutter shut with a smile.
Shaking my head at her teasing, "I'll have to ask my Mamà about the seasonings." I chime because I haven't talked to her since last Friday.
She has been busy lately.
"I love you-" Lexi shrieks in the middle of a conversation as our eyes and ears tune to a steamy telenovela episode.
When I look at why she shrieked, I gasp at the sight of what has taken place in the middle of the living room floor. My virgin eyes are being deflowered, capturing athletic clothes that are scattered across the floor and the two naked people standing behind the sofa that those clothes belong to.
"Really Max!" Lexi shouts, clenching her fist.
"Señor ten Pieda," I whisper and crucify myself to Saint Agnes for purity.
Target bags hastily veil my virgin eyes before I could take another peek to confirm the sexual ecstasy.
Unfortunately, Lexi was a little too late to shield me. I don't think I'll ever get the image or sound of synchronized moans, skin slaps, and Maxine's breasts bouncing from the impact of Marcus penetrating her naked from behind.
She is going to get bacteria that way.
I cringe, thinking of all the photos we had to see of the anus in skin assessment for tears and swelling.
I need to go to the Memorial Chapel and use holy water on myself.
Lexi fidgets and slams the front door shut, almost breaking the hypnotic trance of what we've just witnessed. Multiple curse words spew out behind the door as I tremble. "Did th-" I stammer.
"We're definitely going to call your mom to get that secret carpet-cleaning recipe."
I nodded involuntarily, my cheeks ablaze, and my mouth gaped open in shock.
I don't think I'm a virgin anymore.
