Soma's curry risotto Omurice

This is a main course made by Soma during the 43rd Annual Totsuki Autumn election.

Servings: Around 4 people

Ingredients:

. 1 Cup uncooked rice

.150 grams ground beef

.1/2 Onion

.1 1/2 tablespoons curry powder

.1 Tablespoon mango chutney (substitutes marmalade or jam)

.2 tablespoons butter

.2 teaspoons grated ginger

.1 tablespoon granulated consomme

.1 litre water

.50 grams pizza cheese

.Salt, pepper, parsley

To make egg batter:

. 8 Eggs

.2 tablespoons each milk and cream

.4 tablespoons butter

.Salt, pepper

To make the sauce:

. 2 Tablespoons cooking sake

.2 tablespoons oyster sauce

.1 tablespoon soy sauce

.1 teaspoon sugar

Methods:

1.Dice the onion

2. Melt the butter in a pot and add the diced onions from step 1 and grated ginger. Saute until the onions are translucent and tender. Add the ground beef and curry powder and cook until fragrant.

3. Add the rice to step 2 and saute. Add the manga chutney. Mix granulated consomme and one litre of water together and add just enough to submerge the mixture.

4.Heat step 3 to a boiling and then reduce to low heat. Simmer on low heat for 15 min, adding more of the consomme and water if all the liquid gets absorbed.

5. Add the pizza cheese to step 4 and stir. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

6. Make the egg batter. Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat to break the yolks. Add the milk and cream, season with salt and pepper and then whip until throughly blended.

7. Heat one tablespoon of butter in a frying pan and pour in 1/4 of step 6 while quickly stiring it with a fork. Once the egg has set on the bottom. Pour 1/4 of step 4 on top. Use a fork to fold the far edge of the cooked egg over top of it. Ease the omelet to the edge of the pan and then flip onto a plate and gently mold into shape. Repeat this process 3 times with the remaining 3/4.

8. Mix the sauce ingredients and pour it into the pan that was used for step 7. Heat to boiling and then quickly remove from heat. Drizzle over 7. Side with parsley and done!

Notes:

.You can put more or less curry powder depending on your taste

. It Doesn't have to be pizza cheeseany cheese is fine as long as it isn't a cheese that's left in water like feta

.When it says add the rice to step two I'm assuming it's cooked rice not uncooked (I'll have to double check)

.Instead of making the sauce, if you're lazy you can just use tomato sauce

.If anyone has made omurice step 6 and 7 is just like making the egg to the omurice so you can do it your own way

.VEGETARIANS: tofu, tempeh, Seitan, and TVP can be replaced for beef but be very careful the cookig styles and times maybe different, mushroom, beet and potato certainly can too.
