Kozhi varutha curry




This main course is made by Akira Hayama in ep 19 where he made this for souma and megumi to try. It's also known as spicy chicken curry

Servings: Around 2 people

Ingredients:

.1 chicken thigh

.1 onion

.100g of can diced tomato

.1 teaspoon each grated garlic and ginger

.1/3 teaspoon each cumin seeds and garam masala

.1/4 teaspoon of red pepper

.1/2 tablespoon of coriander powder

.1/3 teaspoon turmeric powder

.1/2 teaspoon of salt

.200 cc coconut milk

.100 cc water

.3 tablespoons canola oil

.Suitable amount of Cilantro leaves

.Suitable amount of Coconut milk

Method:

1. Cut the chicken thigh into bite size pieces. Thinly slice the onion.

2. Heat a non stick frying pan and cook the chicken thigh, skin side down first until golden brown. Set to the side.

3. Heat the canola oil in a pot. Add the cumin seeds and saute until you can smell them. Add the onion, garlic and ginger and saute throughly.

4. When the onions are golden and translucent, add the canned diced tomatoes and simmer on 5 mins on low.

5. Mix red pepper, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt together and add to step 4, stir until blended and then add step 2. Stir until the chicken is throughly coated in the sauce.

6. Pour the water and coconut milk into step 5 and let it simmer for 10 mins.

7. Season to taste with garam masala and salt. Pour into a bowl, top with Cilantro leaves and a splash of coconut milk and done!

Notes:

.cc stands for cubic centimetres

.You can dice your own tomatoes if you wish

.Instead of Cilantro leaves you can use any herbs to decorate

.Do not add too much coconut milk at the end

.VEGETARIANS: You can use fake chicken which is made out of soy, fish fillet or tofu (But if you do use these they won't have the same taste and affect)
