Chapter 11

No amount of words can even describe how sorry I am. It's taken over six months to for me to update an actual chapter on this story (not including the two rewrites). Anyway, here's Chapter 11! Enjoy~!

****************************************************************************

"Take that! And that!"

Nya quickly dodged the series of punches that her opponent sent at her. Man, this girl just doesn't stop. She decided to make her move by launching a roundhouse kick to the side of her opponent's head. The opponent's eyes widened as she bent backwards to avoid it. She then takes out a small metal pole from behind her back and presses a blue lightning bolt shaped button in the centre, extending it in to a staff. With a war cry, she charges at the Nya, delivering fast jabs and strikes with the staff. Nya barely had time to draw her own katana from behind her own back. She struggled to block the staff strikes for a few moments with one hand before taking out her curved throwing blade from her back with the other hand. She threw it behind her and it curved in mid-air silently, straight for her opponent's side. Unfortunately, the opponent noticed the blade last minute and performed a cartwheel to avoid the attack while swiftly kicking Nya under her chin in the process. Nya cried out in pain and stumbled backwards while catching her blade. She places her hand on her bracelet to activate her magnetic field to steal her opponent's weapon and hopefully get the upper hand-

"Stop!" The two girls stop in their tracks to see Sensei Wu approaching them, "That's enough for now."

Nya lowers her arm and turns to her opponent with a smile. "You did really well, you almost had me there a few times," she said as Summer pulls her hood off, wearing the same smile on their face.

"Thanks, right back at you."

"Now girls," Sensei started, "That was a really good training session-" He was interrupted by a gasp and he and Nya turn to Summer.

"Er, sorry. But I just remembered I have something else to do right now," Summer quickly says as she picks up her staff and turns around to get her duffel bag with her gear, "Thanks a lot by the way!" she calls over her shoulder, running out of the training room.

There was silence in the room, save from Summer's footsteps and pants before Sensei spoke up. "What was that about?" he muttered to Nya, who only shrugged in response.

****************************************************************************

The sky glowed orange walked out of the monastery. She walked up the plank onto the Bounty and sat in the centre, leaning against the mast pole.

It's been two weeks since the outbreak and discovery of the Electro Virus (that's what the media's dubbed it) and a cure still hasn't been found. Every scientist in Ninjago was trying to find the cure under Cyrus Borg but there's still no progress. Ever since the announcement two weeks ago, the Ninja have been training every day to prepare to fight against any potential threat. It was exhausting and handwork, as expected, but Sensei refused to let them skip a day of training, in case they were called to the city for help.

Summer sighed and leaned her head against the mast pole. She definitely felt that she has improved immensely in the past two weeks but she has a sinking feeling in her gut that she isn't good enough to be on the team. She didn't want to be a letdown and a nuisance to the others, especially Jay and Lloyd. Throughout school, she has been told she's a waste of space, mostly from Ryan and Darcy. She could still hear Ryan's words in her mind from the karaoke hut, repeating itself over and over like a broken record. "You're a nobody Summer, you'll never fit in wherever you go." It made her want to electrocute them with her powers until they fall to the ground, dead, but she knew that Sensei would never approve.

"You alright there?" Summer yelped and jumped at the sound of someone else's voice. She turned to see her visitor and smiled.

"God, you scared me," she chuckled quietly, "And yeah, could be better. You?" She patted the empty space on her right shyly. Lloyd heaved a sigh and he sat down next to her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and she leaned her head against his in return.

Since their date two weeks ago, the others, especially Cole, have been itching to find out what happened that night. Lloyd and Summer met up after training the next day and decided on continuing their relationship in secret. They both knew that the others will never let them live it down and they can't get too comfortable with each other with the virus outbreak and the immense training session but didn't want to put their relationship on hold for those reasons. Summer was honestly surprised that that Lloyd had a crush on her, out of all people.

"Hey," Lloyd started looking down at Summer, who only hummed in response, "Are you sure you're alright? You look really worried. You can talk to me, you know."

Summer drew her breath. This was the question she wanted to avoid. She didn't want to expose any weakness in front of Lloyd, not only because he was the famous Green Ninja, but because she was afraid he would tell the others she's not worthy to be on their team.

"Am I good enough?" she asked in barely a whisper.

"What was that?" Lloyd had perked his head up slightly at her voice, having just caught that question.

"I mean," Summer sighed dejectedly before continuing, "Am I good enough to be on the team? Am I good enough to even stay here with you guys? Am I good enough to be your girlfriend?"

Lloyd's green eyes widened at her statements. He was shocked to hear his girlfriend say things about that, thinking she was worthless, and he refused to believe it. "Wh-what makes you say that?" he asked, worriedly.

"I feel worthless compared to you guys, I can't do anything special or useful." Summer sighed again, sadly, "Ryan's right, I'm nobody, I'll never fit in wherever I go. I'm surprised that I'm still here." She let out a dark chuckle.

Lloyd could not believe what he was hearing. He knew that the incident at the karaoke hut with Ryan and Darcy still shook her but he didn't realise how horrible her history with them was. He fell head over heels for a girl who was beautiful, smart, kind and amazing, and he wanted her to know that.

"Summer," Lloyd began, tightening his grip around her arm, "You are the most beautiful, smart, kind and absolutely amazing. Not to mention talented as well. So, don't ever think that you're worthless, a waste of space, because you're not, okay?"

Now was Summer's turn to be shocked at hearing Lloyd's words. "You mean it?" she asked carefully.

"All of it."

Not one in her life, apart from Aunt Shelley, has ever told her that she wasn't worthless, she meant something to someone and she never expected to be from Lloyd. It was then she realised that he genuinely loved her, and she loved him back.

"Thank you," she whispered, wrapping her arm around him.

"Anytime," Lloyd whispered back and the two looked onto the sunset, content with each other's company.

****************************************************************************

The next morning, the team is seated around the table, waiting to have breakfast. Jay was already in the kitchen, making pancakes, while everyone else was trying to keep themselves occupied in the meantime.

"Argh!" Why isn't this thing working?" Kai asked in frustration, trying to use this phone while wearing the rubber gloves.

Since the virus was still active, the team has to wear rubber gloves to protect them from the electric shock. It works, but not so well.

"Maybe it would if you weren't smashing your fingers on the screen," Nya remarked, not looking up from her book.

"It's because of the gloves, sis," Kai told her, holding up his hand, "If I didn't have to wear them, I would be fine."

"Yeah, and who was the one that said he hates 'fancy' technology?" Nya asked, finally looking up from her book and making air quotation marks with one hand.

"Sheesh, keep the sass down, will you?" Cole grumbled from behind his newspaper.

Nya raised an eyebrow before returning to her book while Kai sighed and put his phone down, having given up. He decided to watch Lloyd, Summer and Zane play Uno. Zane had finished a long time ago and was now watching Lloyd and Summer play.

Lloyd had just put down a red +2 card and smirked at Summer, who had three cards left. Summer returned the smirk and put down a green +2 card. Lloyd's smirk only got wider and he put down two more +2 cards, a blue and yellow. He had two cards left, she now has to pick up eight, he was going to win. There was no way she would have another +2 card and he had been saving those up. That smirk, however, quickly disappeared when Summer put down a +4 card.

"Uno," Summer said calmly, noting how Lloyd's jaw had dropped in shock.

"Zane, can she do that?" Lloyd asked, crossing his fingers underneath the table and hoping the answer was 'no'. But unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side today.

"Yes," the nindroid answered, clearly not sensing his friend's predicament.

Lloyd groaned and began to pick up twelve cards.

"Oh, and I change the colour the red," Summer quickly added once he was done.

Lloyd quickly looked through his cards and swore under his breath, muttering about something along the lines of karma. That was the one colour he didn't have, even after picking up twelve cards. He didn't even have a colour change card in his pile. Lloyd sighed and picked up another card and groaned for what felt like the tenth time that day. He didn't notice Summer put down her last card straight after he picked up, a red four, putting her in second place of the game.

"Savage," Kai muttered underneath his breath as he watch Lloyd throw his cards up in the air dramatically. When Zane turned to give him a confused look, he quickly waved it off with a 'it's nothing' look.

"Breakfast is served," Jay called from the kitchen, the heavenly smell of pancakes wafting into the dining room.

Everyone else began to pack up and set the table. Lloyd got down onto the ground and began to pick up the cards he threw. He was about to pick up the last one, a green five, when someone else had beaten him to it, his hand resting on theirs. He looked up to Summer's bright blue eyes and the two blushed upon realising what happened. Summer quickly pulled he hand away and got up to sit on the seat, her face still burning but cooling down quickly. Lloyd joined her a few moments later in the same state as her.

"Here you go," Jay came in with a plate with a small tower of pancakes and put it on the table.

Everyone dove for the plate to get a piece while Sensei Wu sighed in exasperation and continued to sip on his tea. Once Jay was done and everyone had a pancake on their plate (covered in a mountain of cream and maple syrup), everyone dug in. Summer enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in the Monastery, the friendly chatter amongst the team mates and elders and the hearty laughter that rang in the room every so often.

A sharp ring interrupted the chatter about twenty minutes into the meal. Misako sighed and stood up to answer the phone, putting on a pair of rubber gloves that were sitting near the phone before doing so.

"Hello? This is the Ninja's Monastery," she said. There was silence before she answered again, saying, "No, we don't have anything planned." The phone call had everybody's attention as they waited for the call to end.

"Okay, we'll be there soon. Bye," Misako put the phone down and sighed.

"What is it Mum?" Lloyd asked.

"That was Mr Borg," she answered, taking the gloves off, "he wants to talk to us about the virus and emergency plans."

"Anything else? Cole piped up.

Misako shook her head.

"Ninja," Sensei Wu announced, "Pack up and get ready. We're leaving in 15 minutes."

"Yes, Sensei."

Everyone got up instantly and began to pack up. Summer tried to help as much as she can but she still felt like she would disturb the harmony that was already in place, so she did a little bit and quietly left the room to get changed.

Once she closed the door to the shared room, she slipped her gi on, tightening all the belts and buckles on the suit and attached the hood. She attached her new staff onto her back, fastening it onto it's holder then slipped her boots on. She left the room soon after, pulling her fingerless gloves on, heading for the courtyard.

The elders and Zane were already waiting outside but you could hear the others shouting at each other inside.

"Where's my hood?"

"Right there, you dummy."

"Excuse me?!"

"Why the hell do you have my pants?! Gimme back my pants!"

Summer couldn't help but chuckle at the laughter that came after the last line. She knew that it was Jay. "Dorks," she muttered affectionately underneath her breath with a small smile on her face.

"Ready to go!" The others came stumbling out the doorway. Jay glaring at Lloyd, who was grinning sheepishly at him while Kai and Cole were snickering behind their hands. Sensei nodded and the team formed their dragons. Kai helped his sister up onto his, Misako climbed on with Lloyd, and Sensei got on with Zane.

Summer watched them feeling a little jealous. She's been practising to form her dragon but the few times it works, it disappears instantly. She enjoyed the dragon ride she went on with Lloyd, the thrill of it and the wind blowing in her face.

"Hey sis, you alright there?"

Summer looked up to Jay, who was on his dragon and holding a hand out for her. She smiled and took hold of it and climbed on.

"Ready?" he asked. Summer nodded and the siblings pulled their hoods on. Jay shook the reigns and the dragon roared and took off after the others.

****************************************************************************

"Thank you for coming, Ninja," Cyrus Borg called as the dragons landed and disappeared into coloured smoke.

"Wow..." Summer awed at the tall building while sliding off Jay's dragon. It was massive! "So this was where the Overlord was destroyed during the final battle..."

She can still remember the day the Stone Army came. She was doing homework when she heard Aunt Shelly scream and abandoned her homework to find the Stone Army marching down the street. The two quickly blocked the front door and closed all the curtains. They hid in Shelly's room with the closet against the door and a single candle lit in the middle of the room and the radio on quietly.

"We're happy to help, sir," Lloyd replied politely and effectively bringing Summer back to reality, "If you don't mind me asking, is there any reason why you called us?"

"Oh yes. Uh, come on in." Borg beckoned the team inside.

It was a quiet trip in the elevator Summer was in. The team had to split and take both elevators to get to Borg's office. Summer couldn't help but marvel at the view offered of New Ninjago City as the elevator rose higher. She felt someone squeeze her hand and saw Lloyd in her peripheral vision giving her a small smile. The elevator stopped and the everyone exited the elevators and followed Borg to his office.

"Now, you guys may not have met her but she is the vice president of New Ninjago City and all of Ninjago as well. She has also helped me out a lot, especially after the nindroids incident and I don't know where I would be without her," Borg said.

"Uh, that's great, but who are you talking about?" Cole asked, cocking his head slightly to the side in confusion.

"Oh, my bad. Allow me to introduce you to her."

They had finally arrived and Borg open the door and ushered the team inside. A woman was standing by the conference table set out. She had chocolate brown hair but her eyes were the colour of onyx. She wore a typical business outfit, a white blouse under a grey business jacket and black pencil skirt, her black stilettos giving her more height.

"Ninja, this is Agatha Dixon, vice president. Agatha, this is the team," Borg says, gesturing the team to her and her to the team.

"Sensei Wu, right?" Agatha addressed the teacher, approaching them.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you," Wu returned the gesture and held out his hand. She took it and shook it.

"Likewise," She glanced around at the team, "So, these are the famous protectors of Ninjago, I'm sorry we've only just met now."

"No, you're all good," Lloyd said stepping forward, holding his hand out, "I'm Lloyd Garmadon."

"Ah, the famous Green Ninja. A pleasure to meet you."

Everyone else took turns, quickly introducing themselves.

"Summer Walker, it's nice to meet you." Summer said, holding her hand out. She could've sworn Agatha's eyes' widened in shock and panic for a split second but she took her hand and shook it.

"Walker? I didn't know that Jay had a sister." Agatha remarked and Summer grimaced when she turned away.

"Sit down, Ninja," Mr Borg and everyone took a seat the conference table. Borg walked over to a projector and turned it on, commencing the meeting.

"Now, Miss Dixon, what are your major concerns to the virus outbreak?" Borg asked Agatha and the woman stood up.

Ten minutes into the meeting, Summer was already impatient and bored, mostly the latter. This reminded her way too much of her classes when she went to school, especially history. The elders and Zane were in a deep discussion about the safety of Ninjago and the virus. There was no way she could participate because she had zoned out a few minutes into the meeting and she had no idea what they were talking about now. She could see that the others, especially Jay, Kai, Cole and Lloyd were just as bored. Poor Lloyd looked like he was going to fall asleep but as the leader of the team, he had to at least try and look interested and participate in the meeting. This is what you get when you have a thirteen-year-old in a twenty one-year-old body.

Finally, Summer had enough.

"Um, excuse me," she said and everyone instantly turned to face her. She felt sweat building up on her forehead in embarrassment but she ignored it and kept going.

"Umm, would it be alright if I do a quick patrol around New Ninjago City? You know, just to make sure no one else has been infected by the virus," she asked nervously, glancing around at everyone.

The elders in the room glanced at each other, then at Lloyd, who quickly put his hands up in protest, but winked at Summer when they turned to the other Ninja. She sucked on air quietly. Dear Lord, was this boy trying to kill her with all the cuteness at his disposal.

"Yes, you may," Summer quickly turned to Agatha, who nodded at her in approval, a small smile on her face.

"Thank you," Summer excused herself, grabbed her gear and left the room.

"Why didn't I think of that?" Jay whined quietly to himself once the door was closed. He felt Sensei Wu glare at him from the other side of the table and quickly shut his mouth, now deciding to complain mentally.

Summer stepped out of Borg Tower and took a deep breath. She moved to a nearby alley from across the street and hid her bag with her gear, taking the hover board key chain. She pulled her hood on and attached her staff to her back and activated the hover board.

She jumped on and took off to the skies, the wind blowing in her face. Under her hood, she smiled as she zoomed above the streets of New Ninjago City.

****************************************************************************

Little did Summer know, she was being watched the moment she walked out of Borg Tower. In an abandoned building across the street from the entrance, was a pair of binoculars poking out a window. A figure was sitting cross-legged on a chair at the window, her long black hair blowing in breeze gently. She closed her piercing grey eyes for a moment and put her binoculars down. She does looks exactly like me, except for the eyes. What the hell's going on? Why does she look like me?

She sighed and got up and tied her hair up before putting on a dark purple full face mask that gleamed like a gemstone, then pulling on the hood of her body suit over her hair and checked her gear on as she went down stairs. There's no way we could be related, she said she was Jay's sister, and Mother never told me I had a sister. I have to ask Mother tonight after the mission.

The girl opened the back door and found herself in the back alley way with apartment building surrounding it. She walked to a wall with the least windows and jumped on, latching her fingers in the crack and she began to climb up the wall. She saw a nearby wall and she pushed off the wall she was on and jumped onto the other side, grabbing hold onto the window ledge above her. She continued to climb and jump walls until she made it to the top and crouched on the roof, hidden from sight.

She was enjoying her break, two weeks without a mission was a new record for her, and it gave her enough time for arm to heal. She rubbed her arm subconsciously where she got zapped at the Wind Farms Power Station. Injecting the virus into the electricity through the projector was easy but she got zapped on the arm by a stray bolt of electricity when she pulled the empty carrier out.  Thankfully, she wasn't affected by the virus, as it was just injected and needed time to spread, "Stupid electricity," she muttered to herself.

The sound of an engine starting up brought her back to reality and she peered over the edge to see the new ninja activating her hover board and flying off. She sighed and jumped off the roof onto another one and began chasing her, house by house. As she jumped, she reviewed the previous night in her mind.

The girl approached her other's office and stopped outside the door to push a stray lock of back hair behind her ear. She knocked.

"Come in," a woman's voice called inside and the girl opened the door and entered the room. She stopped in front of the desk, the owner's upper half of her face covered by the darkness.

"Ah, Winter, how've you been? It's been nearly two weeks since your last mission," the woman at the desk asked, clasping her hands together on the desk, her eyes no doubt searching the girl's steeling grey ones in the darkness.

"I'm good. How about you, mother?" The girl, addressed as Winter, answered.

"Fine," a small evil smirk spread on her mother's face, "I have a new mission for you."

She took out a small cylindrical capsule and handed it to Winter, who took it and opened the contents onto her mother's desk. The mother took a small photograph and showed it to Winter. There were two people walking in New Ninjago City at night, a boy in green with messy blonde hair and hazel eyes, his arm wrapped around a girl with long black hair and bright blue eyes, laughing at something the boy had said.

Winter gasped in shock. "But-but she looks exactly like me!"

Her mother nodded before pointing at the boy, her lips set in a grim line. "The boy, who does that remind you of?" she asked, handing the photograph to Winter.

Winter took another look at the photograph. "He looks like Lloyd Garmadon, the Green Ninja. But he looks different, his eyes are a different colour."

"Yes," her mother nodded again and took the photograph off her, "He's in public so it appears he changed his eye colour to avoid getting mobbed in public with this girl."

Winter frowned. "Yes, I understand that, but what has this got to do with the girl?"

Her mother answered by taking a small USB stick that had fallen out of the capsule and plugged it in onto her computer and opened a video file. She turned the laptop around do Winter can see the video. The video a tape taken by a security camera and it was focused on the same two people in what looked a karaoke room. The door opened about a few minutes into the video and two more people came in, a tall boy with dark brown hair and a girl with platinum blonde hair. The four people began talking to each other, more like argued for a couple minutes before the newcomers surrounded the black-haired girl, causing her to kick both of them in the stomach before running off. Her mother stopped the video.

"I have two things I need you to do," she began and Winter nodded to show that she was listening. "First I want you to find out more about that girl," she pointed to the black-haired girl in the photograph before continuing, "and find out if she is a new Ninja, then deliver a message to the Ninja."

"Understood," Winter nodded again, "What do you want me to tell them?"

"Just tell them that nothing can stop you and I and also to give up while they can."

"Yes, Mother."

"Good, any questions?"

"Yes," Winter began, "Why do you want me to investigate the girl? Aside from looking like me, there's nothing special about her."

"I just want to confirm if she a new ninja. If she is, then we have another threat against our plan. Is that understandable?"

"Yes, Mother."

"Good, you may leave."

Winter bowed and turned to leave room. She closed the door behind her, took a deep breath and walked to her quarters to get ready to leave the next morning.

Winter landed on a roof and looked up to see the girl make a sharp turn to the left. She narrowed her eyes behind the mask.

"Who are you?" she muttered to herself, "And why do you look like me?"

****************************************************************************

This must've been the longest chapter I have ever written. Who is Winter? Why does she look like Summer? Do you think Agatha Dixon can be trusted? Also, I am so so so so so so so so so so sorry for taking this long to update. I have four writing projects going on at once, a truck load of school work and trying to maintain what's left of my social life. The past six months and most recently, the past few weeks of my life have been rough, I have to make subject selection choices for the last couple years of high school that could affect of life after school, trying to meet my parents' and teachers' very high expectations and I have friendship problems to top it of as well. I don't expect anyone to read this but if you did, you'd understand why I don't have as much as I used to to write. This chapter has been my best work to date, so votes and comments, even feed back on my story would be really appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this (if  you did).
