Chapter Five

"It's just..." she sighed as she realized that she was actually going to do this. She was about to go in-depth about her past. She rarely talked about it to anyone so her telling him this was something entirely new and something she never thought that she would do. "I'm about to tell you something I've never told anyone before." She took one last deep breath. "Why am I doing this?" she muttered under her breath.

"Just tell me. It's okay. I can be nice when I want to be," he assured her jokingly.

"Here goes nothing." She took one more deep breath and got up all of her courage before looking into his deep forest green eyes. "So, when I was twelve I found out that my mom was cheating on my dad. She met him, the guy she was cheating with, at her work. It was this weird lab place where they did a bunch of weird experiments. Anyway, so she met him and apparently they "fell in love." They were having an affair for years and nobody knew anything. One day I got off school early and went home... I caught them... they were kissing. You have no idea how much it hurt to see that. Her boyfriend or whatever I'm supposed to call him left minutes later. My mom started talking to me about how sorry she was but it was so fake. After she was past trying to get me to forgive her she went into the harassing stage. She told me that I was a disappointment. That she was taking my older brother with her to her new home and not me. I felt terrible. Unworthy of love. Unworthy of life. If even my own mother couldn't love me then who could? I fell into a deep depression and it just got worse. Eventually, my dad figured out about it and took me to a mental hospital. It helped me get better. I'm still not 100% but I'm a lot better than I was." At this point, tears were freely flowing down her face as she finished. She looked up to see Blake staring at her with wide eyes.

"Anyway, we should probably start training. We can finish up this thing later." She started walking to the treadmill before remembering that she was wearing an outfit she didn't want to ruin. She looked back at Blake before smiling shyly. "I need to change. Can you take me to the guest room with all the clothes and stuff?"

"Sure. follow me." He led her to the guest room closet where she changed into running shorts and a T-shirt after making him leave the room of course. After Mia changed she stepped out of the room to find Blake waiting for her. Together they made their way back to the gym.

"What should I do first?" Mia asked.

"I'd start with something easy. Like, the treadmill," Blake told her.

"Okay." With that, Mia got to work.

A few hours later she was exhausted, drained, and extremely sweaty.

"Hey, Blake?"

"Yeah?"

"I need to take a shower before I go home so that my dad won't know what I've been doing. Could I use your shower?"

"Sure. There's one in the guest room where you got the clothes," he told her.

"Okay, thanks," she said as she made her way back to the room. She took a quick shower seeing as she only had about forty-five minutes to get home and with the traffic as bad as it normally was, she didn't want to leave too late. After her warm shower, she changed back into her clothes before grabbing her bag and heading to the room with all the couches where Blake said he would wait for her.

"You ready?" she asked, looking at Blake with his phone in his hand.

"Just a sec," he mumbled, still looking down at his phone. He looked like he was finishing something so she let him take his time. "Okay, let's go," he said after a few moments of silence, finally putting his attention back on her as he put his phone in the back pocket of his black ripped jeans.

They started making their way back to the door in front of the mansion. The two got into the car and started making their way back to the StarCoffee so that she could grab her car. Fifteen minutes later they were there.

"Thanks for the drive. I'll see you on Monday," she said before hopping out of the car and opening the door to her own. She got in before quickly heading home, her mind still on all that had happened during her long, exhausting day. I need to come up with a name for myself! she thought as she pulled up into her driveway.

"Dad! Tori! I'm home," she yelled before closing and locking her front door and running up to her room. She had finally gotten around to unboxing everything and she had to say, it looked pretty good. She sat on her neatly made bed and let her mind wander. She then got up from her bed and sat back down on her desk chair, taking out a piece of paper to write down her ideas.

It should be something electric! Like, Lightning? No. That's weird, she thought. How about The Shocker? No. That makes me sound like a taser. I don't want that. What about The Shock? It still seems off. It's like there's too many words. How about... Just Shock? No The. Perfect!

"Yes!" she said out loud. Shoot! I meant to not say that.

"Everything okay there?"

"Yeah! Everythings good. I just found something that I've been looking for. Sorry," Mia said, hoping he believed her lie.

"Okay," he replied.

Now I just have to remember that, Shock.

A short while later Mia's dad called up to her. "Mia! We're going out to eat. Since you already ate we'll just leave you to do your homework" She had already eaten so she didn't want anything.

"I already ate," she yelled down the stairs, going back to her homework. She was supposed to write an essay on The Three Musketeers. She loved all the characters but especially Dartanian. She even named her old hamster Dart. He was awesome.

About twenty minutes later she had finished the essay. If she wasn't such a slow typer it probably wouldn't have taken so long but alas although her memory was impeccable her typing was not. After she finished that she began working on creating a design for her superhero outfit. It would need to be flexible and she wanted it to be cute. She'd probably need something to protect her body from attacks. Something strong. She eventually decided on a jumpsuit with an extremely strong material called blinium that was flexible and could also protect her from almost all dangers with a cute jacket on top with long sleeves as another layer of protection. The coat was made of. The coat went down mid thigh in the front but curved down longer in the back to a low thigh. She added a belt as she didn't want the jacket to just sway in the wind as it would get in the way. After she had finished the drawing she took it out of her sketchbook and placed it in her pillowcase. That's a pretty good hiding place. Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all, she thought. She looked at the time and realized that it was 10:00. She decided to go to bed since otherwise, she would probably stay up until 3:30.

Mia woke up to another sunny day. She stood up and got ready for school. Hopping into the shower, she began thinking about her powers. I wonder if I'll start practicing my powers today? she wondered.

Mia realized that she'd been in the shower for more than ten minutes so she quickly finished and hopped out. She brushed her teeth, brushed her hair, and did her makeup before running downstairs and grabbing a cold pop tart.

"Tori! It's time to go. If you aren't in the car in five minutes I'm leaving without you," Mia warned. She knew that she wouldn't actually do it but Tori didn't. Okay, she probably did but Mia didn't really care.

Four minutes later Tori was in the car. Mia had already finished her pop tarts as Tori started hers. As always Tori turned on google maps and they made their way towards the school.

They continued down the road listening to their favorite songs as always. When they finally arrived at the school, Mia parked the car and they got out. Mia immediately noticed the stares that her sister got. Called it! One week. One week and she's already popular! Mia thought, heading towards Bella.

"Hey," Bella greeted, pulling her in for a hug.

"Hey, back," Mia replied.

"You know what? We should totally hang out this weekend.

"I would love that but I might have plans. I'll have to check."

"Okay, just let me know by, like, Thursday."

"Of course!"

"Omg! Like did you see Blake today!? He is sooooo hot! I wish I could date him," a false high-pitched (or should I say falsetto) voice said from behind them. Mia turned around to be faced with Blake who was smirking at his own joke. Suddenly she realized how close they were. She could feel his warm breath on her cheeks and noticed the way his eyes glittered in the sunlight. His body was almost pressed against hers. As she peered into those eyes she saw them peering at her lips. He's going to kiss me! Wait. I can't be excited about that! she thought. I'm not going to have my first kiss with a guy I barely know and don't even like! she thought even though her body for some unknown reason had a strong urge to simply close the distance between them. When he started leaning in she went against what she wanted and did the smart thing. She cleared her throat and turned away.

Staring back at her were Bella and Drew... gaping at the scene before them. Mia immediately knew she was about to get it so instead of doing the responsible thing she ran away to her next class, thankful that only her after-lunch classes were the same.

Running into her classroom she immediately realized how empty it was. I am about ten minutes early. So, being her, she grabbed a book and began reading.

When class started she began drawing while she was listening. She loved drawing and it was something to do until this school caught up with where she left off. She wasn't great at it but it was something she enjoyed doing. She decided to draw a rose and by the time class was over it was perfect. She had shaded it and it was probably one of her best pieces.

The rest of her morning classes passed by quickly and soon enough it was lunch. She knew she would have to confront what had happened that morning but she wished she could just forget about it.

When she got to the table she was the only one there. She sat down in the spot next to the window and grabbed a book, waiting for the others.

Suddenly she felt a pull on her arm. She looked up to see Bella looking down at her. "We need to talk," Bella said, dragging her out of the cafeteria.

"What do we need to talk about?" Mia asked.

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe the fact that you almost kissed Blake!" she said this extremely loud, causing Mia's ears to hurt.

"Will you quiet down!? I mean, jeez."

"You are totally avoiding the topic, missy. You know what happened."

"I don't know what's even happening to me. I mean, I hate him. Right?"

"I don't know. That's for you to decide. I want to ask you a question and I want you to be honest. Do you like him? Do you feel any sort of attraction towards Blake?"

"I don't know. I mean he's hot and all but... I don't know." Suddenly, the bell rang and they realized that they had been talking for a very long time. Mia ran to her locker where she grabbed her stuff before running as quickly as possible into class. As she sat there listening to a boring lecture about topics she already knew she let her mind run a hundred miles an hour about the boy sitting next to her.

A/N okay, I know this chapter was very cheesy but I do have a few questions.

What do you think of Mia and Blake? Yes or no?

When do you guys think she's going to be in her first fight?

And lastly, what are some things that you like about this story and what are some things I could improve on?
