● Hospital AU ●

Keith's POV

I hear Shiro call my name and I opened my eyes. I sit up groggily.

"Hey, babe, he's awake," Shiro announces. I sit up and rub my eyes.

Wait... Lance is awake?

I look around in the hospital waiting room, and stand. "How long have I been out?" I snatch Shiro's hand as he leads us to Lance's room.

"Just a couple hours," Shiro replies. We come to a stop and we turn into a doorway.

Inside the room, Lance is looking out the window, laying under hospital blankets on the hospital bed, a few tubes and things connecting to his arms or finger. His head is wrapped, and his leg is out, barefoot and also wrapped.

"Lance," Shiro starts. The two of us take seats on either side of him, Shiro closer to the door actually, and Lance smiles as he sees us.

"Hey, guys," he says weakly, his throat sore. "Couldn't stay away from me, huh?"

"Of course not, we wanted to make sure you're okay," I reply. "How many drugs did they give you?"

"Not enough to keep me from noticing the dazzle in your eyes, babe," Lance comments.

I roll my eyes, and Shiro cracks a small smile and squeezes Lance's hand, "You've been out for a while, buddy."

"How long?" Lance questions.

"A couple days," I reply. "You're an idiot, you know that?"

"Yeah... I know." Lance says.

"You should rest your voice, Lance. You're in a weakened state so it's for the better to stay at your best," Shiro comments.

Lance nods slightly, "Okay."

Third Person POV

It was smalltalk from there on. Keith usually hates small talk, but was all right with it this time, considering the circumstances. Lance wasn't fond of it either, considering they kept giving him water to drink which he had to pee into a tube after, but Shiro didn't mind smalltalk, it helped him ease into the comfort of the moment.

"Lance, you should go to sleep," Keith instructed.

"Why? I'm good," Lance retorts.

"Do you want to stay good?" Keith snaps.

"I-"

"Guys, quit arguing," Shiro interjects. "Lance, Keith is right, you should sleep. The more you rest, the fa-"

"The faster I'll get better. Yeah, yeah, you've said that all day." Lance sighs.

Keith responds, "Because it's true and you haven't listened."

When Lance doesn't reply, Shiro starts up again, "Look, Lance, we both care about you deeply. Try to rest, okay?"

Lance sighs again, "Okay. 'Night, guys." He closes his eyes as Shiro squeezes his hand, and Keith leans down to peck his nose with his lips.
