"Kya yaar Shagun. Tu mere saath shopping bhi nahi chal sakti??" Raavi complained dramatically. "Kya faida best friend hone ka agar tu mere saath impromptu shopping trip pe naa jaa sako toh!"

"Sorry Raavi, main abhi kahi fasi hu. Ek zaroori kaam hai, isliye - hum kal chalte hai na shopping?" Shagun replied sounding apologetic.

"Accha fine. Tu meri best friend hai isliye chod rahi hu. Varnaa - " Raavi mock-warned her. "Chal phir, kal milte hai. Bye." Raavi disconnected the call, pouting - she had her heart set on going shopping. It was a holiday, so no college and Raavi was bored. She briefly considered going over to Pandya stores to bother Shiva, before remembering he was out of town for the past 3 days. She sighed morosely, before brightening up. She'd go see Raunak! She realized that she hadn't seen her boyfriend in a few days. She'd just surprise him!

Raavi reached his apartment and knocked. She frowned when there was no answer, and she knocked again before simply letting herself in quietly, she tiptoed into the living room. She paused in her tracks when she noticed a shirt, thrown haphazardly on the floor. She picked it up frowning when she heard the faint sounds of moaning, and Raavi followed the trail, heart beating wildly, before stopping in front of the half-open bedroom door.

The sight before her made her freeze, and Raavi felt her heart break. There, before her, was her boyfriend, Raunak half-naked with his pants unbuttoned. The woman had her legs wrapped around his waist, and she was backed up against the wall. They were locked together at the lips, kissing furiously.

Raavi's eyes narrowed, and she forced herself to stop the tears threatening to escape. She would not be undignified. Not here. Not now. Not ever. Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open and stepped inside. "Toh yeh tha tumhara important kaam, Shagun?" Raavi said coolly, with an eyebrow raised.

It was enough to cause the two of them to break apart. Raunak stared at her, open-mouthed and speechless. "R-Raavi, jaisa tum soch rahi ho waisa kuch nahi hai," he said soothingly, stepping towards her.

"Really? Toh kaisa hai Raunak? Uske muh mein tum Kuber ka Khazana dhund rahe the?" Raavi asked mockingly.

"R-Raavi sun toh - main toh bas woh - " Shagun stuttered, frantically covering up.

"Oh please Shagun. Bewakoof nahi hu main. Dikh raha hai mujhe kya ho raha hai yaha. Waise kab se chal raha hai yeh sab? Do tell," Raavi casually asked, indicating their frazzled state.

"Raavi, please just listen to me," Raunak pleaded, hurrying towards his girlfriend.

"Don't! Don't you dare Raunak!" Raavi seethed, stepping backwards. "You can't explain this?? Maine jo dekha iske baad mujhe tumhari shakl bhi nahi dekhni. We're over."

Turning on her heel, Raavi stormed out of the bedroom, with Raunak running behind her.

"Raavi meri baat toh suno! It never meant to get that far," Raunak whispered. "And itna hota bhi nahi agar tum thodi si accommodating hoti!! Galti mere akele ki nahi hai."

"Tum mujhe blame kar rahe ho?? Mujhe?" Raavi questioned in outrage, her hurt being pushed aside in favour of anger. "Meri best friend ke saath tum kaand kar rahe the! Aur tum keh rahe ho yeh meri galti hai!?! How dare you!??"

"Of course! Jab girlfriend itni behenji jo toh banda aur kya hi kare?? At least Shagun samajhti hai mere bhi needs hai," Raunak said defensively.

"Don't you dare say this is my fault," Raavi hissed. "Tum mein integrity nahi hai yeh meri galti nahi hai! Tumhe apne hormones par control nahi hai, ismein mujhe blame karne ki sochna bhi mat."

"Arre tum mein hormones nahi isme main kya kar sakta hu??" Raunak shot back angrily. "Tumhe hug bhi karta hu, tumhe usse bhi dikkat hoti hai. Kab tak apne needs ka khayal khud rakhta??"

"Haan toh jao. Please jao. Jo karna hai khushi se karo. Let your whore take care of your needs," Raavi spat. "But we are done. Aaj ke baad apni shakal mat dikhana."

"Fine! Waise bhi you are the one missing out. You are lucky ki main tumhe date kar raha tha. Warna tumhare jaisi behenji ko koi aur date karta bhi nahi. In fact I'm sure tumhare jaisi ladki se koi bhi banda bore hi ho jaata. Tumse kaha kuch bhi hota. Accha hai tumhe sab pata chal gaya," Raunak scoffed as he turned and headed back up to the bedroom, where Shagun was clearly still waiting for him.

Raavi turned and stalked out of the apartment, fuming at his words. Only when she shut the door of her bedroom did she allow herself to cry. As she let the tears of hurt and anger make their way down her cheeks, she let her mind process the disastrous turn of events. Despite knowing what he'd claimed was wrong, and that she couldn't be held responsible for his choices, she still began to wonder if things would have been different if her relationship with Raunak had been more physical. His words rang harshly in her ears, and Raavi couldn't help but think as doubts began to surface.

Raavi shook her head, pushing those thoughts down. No matter the nature of their relationship, that still didn't give him an excuse to jump into bed with her best friend, well ex-best friend now. He should have broken up with her before jumping into bed with another woman. And even if that would have hurt Raavi, her heart wouldn't have been shattered with his betrayal. It was a move that Raavi would never be able to forgive him for.

After spending the rest of the day day moping in bed, Raavi finally decided that she was better than that. One long, hot shower later, Raavi was feeling slightly better and less emotionally drained. She took out the gifts Raunak had given her, her diary and the little mementos she had collected over the few months they had been dating, and walked out of her room. She dumped everything in her backyard, poured kerosene over everything and flicked a burning matchstick at it. As flames rose, so did her fire in her heart. Her glazed eyes focused on the blazing inferno, and her features contorted in fury as resolve built in her heart with certitude. She will make him eat his words.
