Chapter One: Out Here

Here we go 😉

The knocking only gets louder and the groaning is attracting more of the walkers. I know that door won't hold no matter how many locks I add. I feel myself looking around frantically, and my eyes land on my window, but there's no way I'll survive that fall. I gulp and grab my backpack, shoving food and water into as I hiss "Shit."

Hold on. Would you like me to explain?

Hi! I'm Evan Fong! And the world is dying! Yay! About two months ago, this disease broke out. Only in Los Santos, though. The city has been put into quarantine and no one is getting in or our until the outside world finds a cure. A cure for what, you may ask? The news says it's properly called the caraun virus, but I call it pure death.

It started out just five people in the hospital, moaning and groaning in pain. Then, they started biting people. Soon enough the biggest hospital in our city was filled with zombies. Yeah, you heard me. Zombies. I call them walkers, I want to believe that they can be cured. That we can be saved.

Just like everyone else, I raided my local store and bottled up as much water as I could. The walkers filled the streets and I stole a hand gun from a shop and four boxes of ammo. I locked myself in my apartment, making as little noise as I could and tried to wait it out.

That should catch you up, huh?

So here I am, trapped inside my apartment. I don't know how the walkers found me, maybe they can smell me, or maybe they did hear me. We have no Internet and barely any power. The outside world is trying to keep us connected but you can't rely on it. I fill my backpack with food and water until it barely zips up. I grab my sleeping bag and strap it onto my back pack, taking a shaky breath.

I loosen my belt just enough to shove my gun into it, putting the ammo into the side pockets of my backpack. I grab my survival kit and stuff it into my backpack, praying the zipper doesn't break. The sound of wood beginning to splinter makes me realize I don't have time to pray or wait or hope they go away.

I shoulder my backpack and stagger for only a moment before running over to my window, looking down after cracking it open. The fire escape! It's two floors down but.. but I can make it. I can set a sprained ankle and limp through the pain if I must. My door bursts open and five rotting walkers stumble in, grunting and groaning.

My eyes widen and without a second thought I jump out the window. It falls shut behind me. I land on the fire escape with a crash too loud for my liking, but it doesn't seem like there's any walkers over here. I groan and push myself up, but other then the blood pounding in my ears, I seem to be okay.

I stand up and start running down the stairs. I know this city like the back of my hand, and I think I should head towards the outskirts. I mean, that way once we can get out of here, I can get out of here. I just pray there's other survivors who won't kill me, I've seen enough Zombie movies to know all the scenerios.

My feet hit pavement and I swallow hard, running down the street. My footsteps echo in the empty streets and I find it too tranquil to be real. I pass a car and gasp, maybe I can hijack it and get out of here. I try to open the door but it's locked, and I have nothing to break the window with.

Who enters the zombie apocalypse and goes "Oh! Better lock my car!"?! I growl and a face slams against the car window from the inside. Oh. That's why. I run away from the walker-infested car and keep on walking until I'm so winded it hurts. I gulp and look around, the city is so much for threatening when it's empty.

The place is already falling apart, probably from fighting and people trying to escape. Cars litter the road, some empty and some filled with walkers, but thankfully they're locked inside. I avoid them anyways. The streets are filled with blood and guts, literally. The smell is horrible but Los Santos never did smell any good.

I don't know what I'm going to do now that I'm out here.
