Chapter Nineteen: Bitter Goodbyes
♢♡Evan♡♢
Jonathan comes trotting down the stairs and his face splits with a smile as he walks up to me. "So! What'd the doctor have to say?" Jonathan smiles, sitting on the seat next to mine. "He says the memory loss is happening because I'm willing it to" I say half-heartedly, still trapped in my own mind.
"Well that's a good thing, ain't it? It just means that you can get your memory back!" Jonathan grins, patting my shoulder. "It's great news!" He insists before I can say anything, standing up and grabbing my hand. "Guys! Ev can get his memory back! Y'know what, we oughta trigger it! Ty! Craig! Quick, act like walkers!" Jonathan laughs, his blue eyes glinting.
I find myself giggling as Craig facepalms and Tyler snorts, kicking Jon in the shin. "Listen, we love you guys and all but we're not being no walkers. Plus, Brock just called. The city is opening back up and we have a house to rebuild" Tyler says, standing up and my face falls. "Y-You're leaving?" I stutter, and Craig stands up.
"W-We're sorry Ev it's just we have a life to get back to. Me and Ty aren't rich like Mr. War Hero is and we need to get back in routine before our money runs out" Craig sighs, patting my shoulder. "Listen, Ev, we'll call and chat as much as you need. It's just- the world isn't gonna wait for us" Tyler agrees, smiling sympathetically. It's too sudden, too sudden they're gonna leave me here with no escape and I'm gonna realize I'm unhappy and-
"It's okay, we'll help you unpack. C'mon Ev" Jon smiles, marching upstairs. I swallow down the nervous feeling in my chest and follow, helping Tyler and Craig pack for the flight they just booked, which leaves in three hours.

We're standing in the airport, about to say goodbye. I kinda want to go with them. I mean- when I get my memory back.. then I can rationally decide whether I want to stay single or get back with Jon instead of leading the poor man on. Plus, then I can get my apartment back together and get back to my routine. Yeah, I'm going to ask to go with them. I have the money for a plane ticket.
"Guys-" Tyler cuts me off. "I hope you feel better Ev" He smiles, pulling me into a hug. "I hope you agree, again, past is past. Your future is lookin' pretty good anyways" Tyler smiles, ruffling my hair the way he always does. "But I-" Jon cuts me off this time. "Well, thanks for coming when we needed you. Good luck with Los Santos"
Craig pulls me into a hug and whispers in my ear. "Don't come home with us, Ev. You'll get yor memory back and regret it. Give Jon a chance" He whispers, pulling back and smiling like he hadn't just read me like and book. He hugs Jon and they're off, off to go home. I gulp and look up at Jon, smiling nervously.
"You okay?" Jon asks, patting my back. "U-Uh, yeah, yeah I think so" I lie, gulping when me and Jon head back to his car. The drive home feels awkward and I really wanna turn around and book the next flight to Los Santos and take a deep breath. Craig said I'd regret leaving when I get my memory back. Did me and Jon do something? It's not like we're soul mates or anything.
You wouldn't want to forget your soul mate.
