"Im sorry, Ms. Terra," The doctor said to the woman who was crying. "But this is genetic. There's no way for us to-"

"THERE IS A WAY!" Ms. Terra shouted. "You just want to take our money and sit on your asses, telling us that you can't do anything when you're not doing anything!"

Kylie sighed as she heard her mom and the doctor yelling at each other. Over her health at that matter. She couldn't believe what she just witnessed. She witnessed a reveal of what her condition was.

I mean, it made sense. The new medicine she got was making her weaker and weaker by the days. Her skin was paling, her hair was thinning, and she was losing sleep. Kylie just thought it was because if all the stress with college and graduation, but when she collapsed and ended up in the hospital, she had a feeling that wasn't it.

Just then, the doctor came in and sat next to Kylie.

"How are you feeling, sweetie?" She asked.

"I feel... weak," Kylie said. "But... I don't know. Maybe a bit nauseous?"

The doctor sighed and smiled solemnly at Kylie. "Sweetie... I fear that the medicine isn't working anymore."

That made her heart sink into her stomach. The chemo is t working anymore? Is the cancer that bad now? Kylie started tearing up at that remark. She knew that it was too strong. She knew as soon as her parents started making her get the chemotherapy.

"How much time do I have left?" She asked the doctor.

"Maybe a year," she said slowly. "Do you... want to speak about it?"

Kylie just shook her head. "I think I can handle this on my own."

The doctor pursed her lips and left the room, looking back at the distressed girl before going to another patient.

That was a month ago.

~Le time skip~

Kylie was studying for her Calc 3 test, tapping her fingers on her bald head. It was different not being so tired all the time, but it was definitely nice. She didn't have to miss out on classes every other week because of it.

The best part might have been the fact that she feels normal. Okay, not totally normal, but normal enough without doctors searching and studying her like a specimen.

It turned out that she had a rare type of cancer: heart cancer. She had gotten through it since she had chemo and all for the past year or so. It was difficult to do physical work, but that wasn't gonna stop her from at least finishing college.

Many people told her to just drop out. She was going to die anyways. What was the point of doing all that stressful work if she was gonna get a diploma for nothing. But Kylie always had that what if sense to her. What if she did survive? She wasn't going to go through all of the rest of her senior year of college again.

Many people were devastated that Kylie had heart cancer, and when she had to go off her chemo, everyone was in tears and breaking point. But that wasn't going to stop her from being happy during her last few months. Even if she was in an incurable state, at least she is going to be remembered as someone who was always happy.

Anyways, Kylie was studying for her Calc 3 test, all dressed up. Why? She was going to a party, and many family friends would all be there to be happy. Her mom suggested her wearing a hijab to cover her bald head, but many people, even her sisters, said she had a cute head and that she should just rock the bald look.

Which she is.

"Kylie!" Her mom the yelled. "We're leaving in five minutes! Are you ready?"

Most of Ky's time would be on her hair, but since she didn't have any, there was a lot of time to spare. And she used that to her advantage. How? More studying.

Anyways, Kylie was downstairs in a matter of seconds, and her mom just gave her a look. Ky knew that her mom didn't want her daughter's bald head to be seen, but why should she care? Its not like putting on a hijab would do anything. People may think she is ashamed of her own body.

And that is NOT something she thinks about herself.

Brook and Sara sat up front, driving with Ky's mom and her in the back. Kylie's not allowed to drive because at any moment, her heart could just stop, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying drives around the area.

"You should've worn a damn hijab, Kylie," her mom suddenly said. "It would've made you look much prettier."

"Mom!" Sara and Brook said simultaneously.

"It's true!" Her mom argued. "I don't know what you get out of going places all bald."

"I don't care what I look like, Mom," Ky replied, calmly. "I just care about seeing my friends and the free food."

"Your friend's are going to judge you like there is no tomorrow," she refuted.

"Those people aren't my friends. They're fazool loog (Unimportant people) that don't understand the meaning of sympathy. Why should you care about something that isn't important."

"That doesn't mean that your beauty isn't important, kameeni (stupid girl)!"

"I already am beautiful, Mom." Kylie look to her mother and smiled. "At least I don't have veins that show in my head anymore."

"Okay," Brook said. "You need to take a chill pill, Mom. This is suppose to be the times where Kylie doesn't have to feel bad about her disease, and you're not helping."

"I don't feel bad about the cancer," Ky corrected. "But, Brook's right. You need to calm down."

The rest of the drive was silent, and the music just filled in for everything.

When they finally arrived at the house, some of the guests were already there. The host greeted Ky's family.

"Kesi ho, Kylie?" How are you, she asked Kylie.

"Teek hoon," she replied.

"Oh! Hannah and Freya are upstairs. They've been anxious to see you."

Kylie nodded as she parted ways with her family to see her friends. When she got to the top and made a turn, however, she bumped into someone. Being a bit off balance, she had to hold onto the person to stay standing. The person also held onto Kylie to help her in the long run.

"I am so sorry," she said while getting up. "I didn't see you there."

"I see that your kindness hasn't gone away because of the chemo," a low and cheerful voice said.

Kylie looked at the person and smiled. "Nope. It's here to stay."

"Good," Keith said while hugging her. "'Cause I didn't want you to lose that sweet side."

"Please. When am I ever sweet to you?"

Keith started laughing at that. "Touché." He the pulled back but he had a serious look on his face. "But... how has everything been going for you? I know that... you got off chemo."

Kylie sighed and leaned against the wall. "It's... interesting. It's nice that I don't feel as tired anymore, but it's... not so great since I only have probably this year left."

Keith's eyes widened. "Wait. I thought you got better."

"...No. That's something my mom... lied about to make it seem that I'm fine... I'm... not gonna live much longer."

Keith's brows curved upwards. Kylie noticed his sadness, but she didn't want him to be upset about her.

"Hey," she said. "I'm not upset by that. I've had a good life. I have a good education, I have my sisters, and..."

"And...?" Keith brought out.

Kylie slightly blushed when she said this. "And I got to meet you and your sisters."

Keith's brown eyes made contact with Kylie's blue ones, and he smiled while blushing in the process. He looked down and chuckled.

"Well," he said, looking back up to her. "I'm glad that we met as kids. And that we stayed close through these years."

Kylie smiled and gave Keith a kiss on his cheek before heading off to the room that Freya and Hannah were in, passing by the room the guys were in.

Keith was shocked by the kiss. He felt his cheek and realized he was probably blushing like crazy. He shook himself out of it and walked back to the guys' room.

"Ooooooo~" his friend Greg (oh hail yas, this guy) said as Keith walked into the room, still blushing. "Did I just witness the one and only Keith getting a kiss by the Desi Sweetheart, Kylie Coora Terra?"

Keith looked up, getting out of his hazy thoughts and cleared his throat. "What are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb, Keith," his other friend Zack said. "We saw you going downstairs to meet with her. We saw her talking about you.... and..."

"And...?" Keith dragged on.

"We saw her kiss you," Henry replied. "It was pretty obvious that she's got an interest in you."

Keith just blushed more than he already was. He put a fist to his mouth and looked away from his friends, his hair covering his eyes a bit.

His friends just laughed. They've always seen Keith get nervous when talking about Kylie. It was just a few years ago when he started blushing at the mention of Ky's name. This was probably the first time that they've seen Keith hide his blushing. Did he finally notice that he blushes like a maniac when Kylie appears?

"Dude, you're such a damn kid, sometimes," Greg said. "You are so nervous around her and talk sweet all the time."

"What the hell am I suppose to do?" Keith asked, smirking a bit while looking at Greg through the corner of his eye. "Talk dirty to her?"

"Talk dirty to me!" Zack sang. "Der der der der-"

"Okay, Mr. American Idol," Greg stepped in. "That wasn't your cue to start singing."

"What? The joke was there!" Zack argued. "Keith seems to be enjoying it."

Keith just rolled his eyes as he went into the room and leaned against the wall. Just then, the guys heard loud screaming coming from the girls' room. Their eyes widened as they looked at each other and laughed until they started coughing.

"Jesus," Henry said. "What the hell is got them so wild?"

"Probably seeing Kylie kiss Keith," Zack said.

Keith gave him a look.

"It's a possibility, Ke-" he started.

"YOU KISSED MY BROTHER?!?!" Hannah's voice came. "I DIDN'T KNOW YOU TWI WERE DATING!"

"HANNAH!" Kylie's voice came, panicked. "I-I-"

"THE STUTTERING SAYS OTHERWISE!" She yelled more.

"Called it, Zack whispered as the guys all leaned their ears against the wall.

"Shut it," Keith whispered back as he listened to the now muffled voices.

"You seriously kissed him?" Janna, Ky's and Hannah's friend said. "I didn't think you had the guts."

"Shut up," Kylie said while, as it sounded, leaned against the wall. "So what if I did? He's too sweet not to kiss."

"I don't like kissing his cheek," Freya argued. "And he's my freaking brother."

Damn it, Frey, Keith thought as the guys started snorting and chuckling from what they just heard. Keith shushed them and continued listening to what they were saying.

"Kylie, are you sure you didn't gain any feelings for Keith?" Hannah asked. "I mean, you get really close to him and sometimes a bit bashful."

"T-That doesn't mean anything," Kylie replied. "Again, I feel safe and comfortable around him."

"Safe~?" Janna said. "Just wait until he breaks your 'safe zone.'"

Keith and turned around, leaned on the wall, and hid his face in his hands when he heard what Janna just said.

"WHAT THE HELL, JANNA?!" Kylie yelled. "Can you not get dirty-minded around me?!"

"Dude," Greg laughed. "I did not know that Janna could say stuff like that!"

"She's always been that fucking dirty-minded..." Keith said while running his hand through his hair.

"Learn something new everyday," Janna then said. "Zack! Now!"

"What?" Kylie and Keith said at the same time, hearing what Janna said.

Just then, Zack got a hold of Keith, holding his hands behind his back, and forcefully pushed him into the closet. Just then, Keith heard Kylie scream as she was then thrown into the closet. The door closed just before Keith could run out.

"DAMN IT, ZACK!" He yelled.

"Zack!" Henry's and Hannah's voices could be heard. "WHAT THE HELL?!"

"Well..." Kylie said. "That happened. Now we're stuck playing Seven minutes in Heaven..."

"Did Janna dare you to something?" Keith asked, leaning against the locked doors.

"No," She replied. "For once. But... she did see me kiss your cheek, so..."

It was completely dark in the closet, so Kylie couldn't see the dark blush forming on Keith's cheeks.

"Uh... about that," Keith said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Why... did you kiss me?"

Now Kylie was relived that Keith couldn't see her blush. She actually did like Keith. I mean, who wouldn't? (Author-chan may think that Keith is actually pretty good of a guy). He was smart, kind, funny, sweet... there was a lot about him that made Kylie's heart flutter. He was just... such a gentleman.

"I... really have no idea," Kylie chuckled. "I guess it was just... a reflex...?"

Keith just laughed. "A reflex?"

"What? It's the same thing as my reflex for karate-chopping you in the balls."

Keith looked to Kylie, who then laughed at that memory. They were about thirteen or so, and one day, Keith scared Kylie from behind, and he was met with a big smack to his lower parts. Let's just say that he didn't stand for at least ten minutes.

"Why did you have to bring that up, damn it!" Keith asked, sounding irritated and embarrassed. "I thought you forgot about that!"

"Nope!" Ky replied. "It is forever stuck in my head!"

Keith then grabbed Kylie from behind and held her there as she screamed and laughed, trying to get out.

"Keith!" She yelled. "Seriously! Get off of me!"

"Not until you get that memory out of your head," he replied.

"Or else what?" She sassed. "Are you gonna murder me?"

Keith looked at Ky. Even through most of the darkness, he could still see her blue eyes. He then used them as a guideline to find her face, and he cupped her cheek. He could feel it heating up as he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.

Kylie was shocked by his actions but soon melted into his kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. She felt like she was gonna lose balance, but Keith's arms grabbed her from her back. He then held Ky's hand and dragged it behind him so he could bring Kylie closer to him.

Just then, rattling was heard from outside the door. Kylie tried to pull back and tell Keith that they were opening the door, but Keith kept kissing her. When the door was open a little bit, it immediately shut close. This made Keith flinch as he slowly pulled back.

"Then I would murder you with kisses and embarrassment," Keith answered Ky's question.

"Keith..." Kylie said. "I... do love you but..."

"But?"

"I... I'm going to die soon. Probably by the end of this school year." She held Keith's face. "I don't want you to suffer from grief because of me."

Keith merely smiled and held Kylie's hand. "Whatever happens to you, you shouldn't worry for me. I've loved you a long time, Kylie. And nothing will stop that."

Just then, the closet opened wide as everyone was witnessing the two lovebirds extremely close to each other. Everyone, even Zack and Janna were shocked by their closeness and blushing faces.

"Uhh..." Freya said. "I was gonna say sorry for the wait on letting you guys out, since Zack ran off with the closet's key, but it looks like you two were... busy."

Keith and Kylie quickly let go of one another and hid their blushing faces from one another. But secretly, they both wanted to kiss again.

The days went off. But... not necessarily the same. Keith and Kylie talked and texted more often than they they use to, and Keith did make a few flirty remarks.

They even visited more often. They would see each other every week just to chat or have dinner. The two grew closer, receiving teases from both Kylie's and Keith's family. Especially Hannah (this girl will not stop teasing... I like her).

However, there came a day when Kylie couldn't stand. She couldn't even breath without feeling a deep pain and pressure on her chest. She was rushed to the hospital within moments of her mom seeing her in such a state.

"Miss," the Dr. said. "I fear the worse is happening to Kylie.

"Is she dying?" Her mom asked.

"Slowly. But... I fear that after June, she won't live."

That was the day that Kylie broke down into tears.

"Shhh..." Keith said as he held her in his arms.

"God damn it..." Kylie said. "I can't even live my life knowing that many people are going to feel depressed when I'm dead."

"Ky..." Keith made Kylie looked at him and wiped the tears from her face. "Remember what I said?"

"Yeah. But still. You were my dream."

"And you should find a new dream," he said. "You can't let your dreams be blocked by the clouds of sadness." He kissed her forehead. "I'll love you for all my life. Nothing will ever stop that."

"Won't I be blocking your dream then?"

"You are my dream," Keith said. "You wanted to finish college?"

"What's the point? I'm dying."

"But you will be finished by the time your gone. You'll be satisfied."

And that was something that kept Kylie going: Keith's motivation. For the last remaining months of college, he would help her study, bringing his things with him as well. He use to help her ace all her classes and finals, making her feel invincible.

And it made Keith feel that way as well.

~Le second to last time skip~

Kylie sighed as she looked at herself in her mirror. She had a big day today: her graduation. She examined her makeup a bit more before adjusting her grad hat. Kylie designed it herself with all the possible ways to show her family where she was.

She remembered how long it took her family to find her sister's hat. It was just full of sparkles, and every other girl's was like that. This time, Kylie knew how to go all out with the flowers she makes in art class.

"KYLIE!" Brook's voice came. "HURRY UP, DAMN IT! I am not waiting for your little ass any longer!"

"Coming!" She said while laughing at her sister's impatience. "Let me just grab my shoes!"

She quickly grabbed her shoes, which were a gift from Keith, put them on, and ran downstairs. She adjusted her cap as she got into the car with her sister. It was finally the end of the year. She was done with everything. And it was all because of Keith.

When Kylie reached the arena where the graduation was held at, she walked out and received her diploma after the many people before her, and she heard shouts and whistles from the crowd. All just for her.

The end of the ceremony brought food, sweets, and drinks to the tables. Everyone was outside, chatting and laughing with their friends and family. That was also happening with Keith and Kylie, but this time, they were taking a lot of photos. And I mean a lot.

"Come on!" Sara said. "Everyone get a picture with Kylie! This is a special moment!!!"

"Sheesh, sis," Ky said. "I'm getting tired of your pictures."

"Hey, this is your moment, and I want everyone to have their special moment with you. You just completed your new dream!"

Kylie smiled at that, looking at Keith in the meantime, who was wearing a suit and tie. He looked so formal and handsome. They shared a smile that they've always shared as kids, and Keith winked at Kylie.

Kylie, when she thought that she was done with all the pictures, let out a sigh and walked down the remainder of the steps. Just then, when she reached the bottom, she was lifted by strong arms, and kissed in the lips. She knew who it was, so she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back.

"Got it!" Sara yelled as she looked at the picture she snapped.

"So..." Keith said. "Are you gonna chase your new dream?"

"I already caught it," Ky said. "And no matter where I go, I'm going to stay with him forever."

They kissed once more as flower petals feel around them.

Knowing that no matter what, they will always love each other.
