An Artist's Eyes [Genderswap]

Hail yeah! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG TO PUT UP A GENDERSWAP! I've always had these stored in the back of my docs, and I never got a chance to do much with them. UNTIL NOW, BIATCH!

P.S. Kylie = Kai and Keith = Katia
Don't judge meh if it's weird af to imagine these two as genderbent. I personally had the worst time trying to imagine K as a guy... BTW, their parents aren't genderbent. I can't do that much without getting confused.

Katia was doing her hair in the mirror. She was debating whether or not to put her brown, highlighted hair into a high bun or just leave it out and wavy. Was it always this difficult to choose what hairstyle to go with for the day? She was just going to the beach with Kai and his family. Plus, her own family was coming along, too.

The thing is, she always wanted to be better looking than Kai. He always ended up dressing better than her for everything! They were at a wedding a few months ago, and while she had this gorgeous, pearl white saari on, he had the nicest suit out of all the men, the nicest hair, and he was the most handsome. Like, he was even good at everything.

No seriously, this kid could draw, sing, play music, write, and other creative things. He just excels at anything that isn't math. That's the only thing Katia could beat him in with flying colors.

Right now, she was going to beat him by wearing a white bikini with red polka dots on it. On top of it, she was wearing a white dress with a hat to top it off. Katia was a big flirt when it came to Kai. She just thought it was cute to see him flustered like that. There were a few times where he would get her back, but it's been a while since then. For now, she wanted to see him blush more red than the dots on her swimsuit.

As Katia and her family got into the car to head for the shores of LA, she got a text from Kai. She was in the front seat with her mom driving, so she wasn't worried about her dad or brothers Harold or Freddy snooping into her phone. She unlocked her phone and saw a picture of Kai sitting.

(I drew an anime version because I can)

I raised my brow and texted him.

Katia: seriously? Purple pants and a t-shirt?

Kai: Scott took a picture of me as we wait on our dad and Brian. They take forever!

Katia: But you're going in the water with that?

Kai: No. I'm gonna change at the beach. My mom hates me wearing just swimwear in the car.

Katia: Why does she worry? She wasn't like that before. She let you walk shirtless all the time before.

Kai: I really don't know.

Katia: Hm. Well, I'm only wearing a white dress over my swimwear. It's mid thigh~

Kai: Oooohhhh. Wait, you're allowed to wear that?

Katia: My dad or mom haven't said anything about it.

Kai: You're parents don't say much about you. My parents are on me 24/7.

Katia: Haha! Well today is gonna be different.

Kai: How so?

Katia: We're at the beach, and you have to wear swimwear that shows your fat ass.

Kai: HEY! I am not fat! I'm in very good shape.

Katia: Mhm. Like I believe that with those thin arms.

Kai: You just said I was fat, and now you're saying I'm too thin?

Katia: Don't sass me, young man.

Kai: How am I sassing you?! XD

Katia: Because you are being mean to me!

Kai: When am I never mean to you?

Katia: Alright. Point made. Anyways, we're almost there. Are you walking?

Kai: Yeah. Only takes us a few minutes. See you there.

Katia texted Kai bye with a little kissy emoji at the end just to tease him a bit more. She liked Kai, and she planned on teasing him 'till the very end. Besides, most of the time they bantered and messed around on a day to day basis. This wasn't any different.

When Katia finally reached the beach, she instantly caught sight of Kai and his family setting up the umbrella and towels. Katia also noticed that Kai was holding his swimwear on his arm: tan shorts. She then realized that Katia never saw Kai without his shirt. The thought made her blush slightly, but her brothers' shouting and yelling to her made her get out of her trance and help with their things.

"You better not go flirting with Kai, today," Harold said, holding the towels in his hands. "Besides, how do you even know he likes you back?"

"He blushes and smirks at my remarks," she replied. "I mean, he seems to not mind."

"That's because all you do is banter and make fun of each other," Freddy commented. "Besides, its awkward knowing my sister has a crush on my best friend..."

"He doesn't flirt back that often," Katia then remembered. "But then again, he's just a shy person. And when he does flirt-"

"That's why I'm questioning whether he likes you back or not," Harold interrupted. "Now come on. Let's set up next to them."

They ran over to Kai and his family and set up. As soon as Kai and Katia made eye contact, they both smiled at each other. Katia always described his eyes as an artist's eyes. They were always full of imagination and deep thought. She usually got lost in them because of that.

"You really think I'm too thin, don't you," He then said.

"Mmm..." she studied Kai a bit closer. "Nah. You've got fine written all over you."

He laughed, both his and Katia's family joining. Harold whistled at Kai as if catcalling a girl on the street.

"Damn dude," he teased. "Better start making up some good flirts now."

Kai gave him a look before Harold just walked off laughing. He was headed towards the bathrooms to change, Katia bet. She should change out, too.

"Race to the bathrooms?" Kai asked, giving me a playful smirk.

"It's on," She said.

"3," he started.

"2," She continued.

"1!" They both shouted as we dashed across the sand to the bathrooms.

The two passed by Harold, who gave them wide eyes as they swung him around in a circle.

When they made it to the bathrooms, they both put their hands on the brick wall at the same time. The two looked to each other, giving each other glares.

"Got here first!" Katia said.

"Since when?" Kai replied. "I clearly got here before you."

"No you didn't!"

"Yes I did."

"Will you stop and just change?" Freddy said, going into the guys' bathroom.

"WOOO!" Katia said as a wave washed over her. "That was refreshing."

She was wearing her polkadot bikini, and she put her clothes, hat, and sunglasses on the chairs next to her parents. She then looked to Kai and saw him floating on his surfboard, halfway in the water, looking at her with water dripping from his hair. He looked annoyed.

"Awww!" Katia said. "Is little Kai okay?"

"Shut it, Katia!" He said while getting up. "That wave was huge. It's not like you can surf."

"True," she replied. "But c'mon!"

Kai merely rolled his eyes as Freddy and Harold laughed in the background. He then paddled his board to the closest wave and stood up when he was out far from shore. As he stood up, that's when Katia noticed a bunch of scratches on Kai's back and chest. They looked kinda old, but they looked like he went through something pretty fatal.

That's when she also saw a necklace around Kai's neck: a shark tooth necklace.

Katia put the pieces together and realized that Kai was attacked by some sort of shark. She decided to swim over to him, since the waters were pretty calm, and she caught up to Kai. He looked over to her and smirked.

"What?" He said. "Here to tease me again?"

Katia jumped onto the surfboard as Kai sat next to her, balancing the board as she got on.

"Why did you never tell me?" She asked, looking at the water.

"Tell you what?" Kai asked, confused by her sudden change in mood.

Katia then pointed to the scars on Kai's chest. They weren't as visible as on the back, but I could see them if you were close enough. Kai touched the scars and sighed. He looked to Katia as she looked to him with her eyebrows curved upwards.

"I... never wanted to talk about it," He replied, looking out to the ocean. "I was so sick and injured that I never wanted to be reminded of that moment in my life."

"Was that the real reason you were in the hospital six years ago?"

Kai nodded. "It's also the reason my mom doesn't let me go shirtless."

Katia then took the tooth that was around Kai's neck in her palm and examined it. Kai just took it off his neck to let her see it completely. It was sharp at the tip, and she could just imagine seeing Kai screaming in pain as the multiple teeth sunk into his skin.

"You say you don't like to be reminded of the event," Katia then said. "Yet you where the tooth of the shark?"

"I'm hypocritical at times," Kai said. "Besides, it was a gift from Bryan to remind me of how brace I was while going through it all." Kai then took his hand and put it underneath Katia's to let him look at the tooth better. "So I kinda kept it because of that reminder."

Katia then looked to Kai as he looked back at her. They stayed looking into each other's eyes until Kai found himself slowly leaning down. The two closed their eyes, waiting for their lips to make contact, but a giant wave appeared out of nowhere and washed over them.

A/N: Damn waves....

***************
"Are you two okay?" Kai's mom asked as the two were given their towels as they came back to shore. "Kai, what did I tell you about going too far into the water?"

"Calm it, Mom," he said, drying off his hair. "It was just a wave."

"What if poor Katia got hurt?!"

"It wasn't Kai's fault for taking me out that far," Katia said. "I swam out to talk to him."

Kai's mother gave the two the look, but she waved them off finish drying off. Kai sighed and looked to Katia.

"Thanks," he said, smirking. "For some reason, it seems like she'll never listen to a word I say."

"She's just overprotective," she replied. "I don't blame her... especially for the past."

That's when Katia just kept looking at Kai's body. He was in really good shape, and Katia couldn't help but stare. Kai gave her a look and smirked when he realized that she was staring.

"What?" He said. "Is my skinny-fatness that crazy?"

Katia got out of her trance and looked away, blushing. She heard Kai laughing from behind her, and she gave him a look.

"Don't you laugh at me, young man!" She said, putting her hands on her hips.

"You're just adorable, that's all," he replied. "C'mon. Let's get with the others. They're waiting for us."

*****************
The two were now at the resort Kai's family was going to be staying at for a few days. Kai said that he brought along his guitar, and he was hoping to hear Katia sing. Of course, she agreed as long as he didn't make a fool out of her by changing the song halfway through.

"Excited?" He asked while grabbing his guitar.

"For?" She asked.

"We were thinking that the young ones could go to the restaurant at the resort to eat while the parents get massages."

"Seriously? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Just did. You up for it?"

"Hell yeah!"

Katia looked into Kai's eyes as he was tuning his guitar. They were a light blue, yet they had some green in them. It looked as if she were looking into some sort of other world. The blue being the skies and oceans and the green being the grass and plants. She felt at peace when she imagined them that way: an artist's eyes.

Kai, after strumming all the strings to make sure they were in tune, glanced up to Katia staring at him. Katia got out of her zone, realizing he noticed her, but she kept eye contact. Kai just smiled at her.

"Come on," he said. "I'm not that weird looking when I'm super focused, am I?"

"No." Katia said. It's not that. I just... I don't know. It's your eyes."

Kai raised his brow. "My eyes?"

"Yeah..." She then said, realizing how cool they were. "They're like a different world: the blue being the skies while the green are the plants of that world."

"Seriously? People never say that about 'em," he replied, leaning back in his chair.

"Well, they don't see your features."

"Yet you do..." He then smirked. "How cute."

Katia just blushed and lightly shoved Kai away. He laughed as he started playing a song. It was an Indian song called Teri Galiyaan. Katia sat next to him as she began to sing with the strumming of the strings.

Yahin doobe din mere
Yahin hote hain savere
Yahin marna aur jeena
Yahin Mandir aur Madeena...

Teri galiyan... galliyan teri, galliyan..
Mujhko bhaavein galiyan, teri galliyan
Teri galiyan...galiyaan teri, galliyan..
Yuhin tadpavein, galliyan teri, Galliyan...

Tu meri neendo me sota hai
Tu mere ashqo mein rota hai
Sargoshi si hai khayalon mein
Tu na ho, phir bhi tu hota hai
Hai sila.. tu mere dard ka

Mere dil ki duaayein hain..
Teri galiyan... galliyan teri, galliyan..
Mujhko bhaavein galiyan, teri galiyan
Teri galiyan...galiyaan teri, galliyan..
Yuhin tadpaavein, galliyan teri, galliyan..

Kaisa hai rishta tera-mera
Be-chehra phir bhi kitna gehra
Ye lamhe, lamhe ye resham se
Kho jaayein.. kho na jaayein humse
Kaafila.. waqt ka.. rok le..
Abr se juda na ho

Teri galliyan... galliyan teri galliyan..
Mujhko bhaave galiyan teri galiyan
Teri galiyan...galiyaan teri galliyan..
Yuhin tadpaave galliyan teri galliyan..

When she stopped singing, Kai looked to Katia, who was leaning her head against his shoulder, her eyes closed. He smiled at her. He then began to study her. She looked so peaceful and happy in this way. She looked like she was relaxed and at ease. Kind of funny compared to the usually flirty Katia. He then relized he was staring at her and quickly looked away, slightly blushing.

"Mmm..." Katia then said. "That was really nice. Can you play it again? And can you sing?"

"Sorry," Kai then said, putting his guitar to the side. "Only one song per person."

Katia looked up at Kai, rolling her eyes. "You're too boring."

"And you're too needy."

"Am not!"

"Are too."

"Am not!"

"You're cute."

"Am n- wait what?"

Kai just chuckled, his teeth showing as he did so. Katia looked at him, blushing even more. God, why is he so cute when he does that? she asked herself. She then shook her head out of her trance and spoke.

"Who are you right now?" She asked.

"What do you mean?" Kai asked.

"The Kai I know is usually shy and blushes when I start flirting with him. He would usually never flirt back because of his shyness."

Kai blushed, his brows raised at what she just said. He leaned back in the chair, rubbing the back of his neck and laughing.

"Come on," he added. "Humor me a bit."

"But I liked being the one to make you embarrassed!" Katia said, hugging Kai's arm. "Not the other way around!"

"Then I'm gonna make you blush more."

"How?"

Just then, Kai leaned forward and pressed his lips to Katia's. She was shocked by the sudden act, but she slowly kissed back after a short moment. That's when she realized that Kai was a great kisser. It was as if he's done this before, but Katia knew that Kai was just a huge loner. His lips felt so soft and gentle, and when he pulled back, Katia felt a bit disappointed.

"I didn't... expect that," she said, looking at him.

"Neither was I," he replied, a hue of blush on his face. "But... I had to at some point tell you."

"So you've been feeling like this since how long?" She asked.

"About... maybe a couple of years."

Katia giggled at his response and leaned up to kiss him again. Kai smiled into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Katia's waist while she wrapped her arms around his neck. Still an amazing kisser, Katia thought.

"Y'know," Katia said, pulling back and playing with Kai's collar. "I never knew you were such a good kisser."

Kai chuckled. "I never knew that about you either."

Katia and Kai laughed together as they were both called down to go to the restaurant. There, the two were kinda shy around each other. Everyone, especially Kai's brothers, were eyeing them with oddity. It took them a while before they realized that the two were probably going to be dating sometime soon. And they wouldn't miss the chance to tease the hell out of them when it does happen.
