LONG AGO, Pirate King Gol D. Roger proclaimed to the world that his treasure was out there for the world to find, inspiring a golden age of piracy. Many pirates emerged—good, bad, and everywhere in between—all of them vying for the famed One Piece. All of them except for the captain of the Knight Pirates, Ybarra D. Ori.

TO ORI, becoming a pirate was just a stepping stone in achieving their dream to tell the story of the greatest adventure in the world. They didn't mean to become the captain of a rag-tag pirate crew; it just. Happened. Sort of. They also didn't mean to run into some rubber kid in a straw hat who insisted he would become the Pirate King, but they can't ignore the promise of a good story.

ARMED WITH a tentative alliance and with their logbook in hand, Ori hardly feels ready to face the Grand Line and all its horrors. Leaving the East Blue, the weakest of the four Blues, their home, seemed like a faraway dream they would never make reality. But if dreams really can come true, then there's hope for them yet.

This story will include coarse language and graphic depictions of violence. While I will try to have TWs where necessary, please proceed with caution! Your mental health should absolutely come first!

There may also be minor spoilers, especially if you've only seen the live-action! I'll also try to give heads up for these!

Rules.

1- Be Nice
If I catch you being rude to anyone here, your character will be dropped! No ifs, ands, or buts!

2- Be Original
Please try not to make your OC someone who already exists or someone else's character! It's okay to base your character off of someone, but please, please try to shake it up a bit. As long as the character is yours, then they're fine!

3- Be original pt. two
If possible, please try to avoid stereotypes!! Subvert them where you can, and have fun with it. Additionally, I'll be more likely to pick diverse characters. The world of One Piece is incredibly creative and batshit insane, so don't hold back when creating your characters! Just please try to avoid making your character overpowered; not everyone is going to have eaten a Devil Fruit, for example!

4- Ages
I'm not entirely sure how old they are in the live-action show, but I'll be going by the manga in that canonically, Luffy and Usopp are 17, Zoro and Sanji are 19, and Nami is 18. PLEASE keep this in mind when creating your character! I will not allow pairings between characters if one is a minor and one isn't!

5- Be detailed
I'll be more likely to pick your character if they're extremely detailed. So, flesh out your character as much as you can! The password is a song your character would have on repeat if they lived in the modern world. The more diverse, the better. :)

6- Tags
Tags aren't required, but it would be awesome if you did!

7- Check

Roles.

CAPTAIN
The person responsible for the ship and everyone and everything on board. They make all major decisions, though they may be advised and influenced by other members.

FIRST MATE
Second to the captain; in their absence, the first mate is in charge. They are often the second strongest fighter (after the captain!) They are the ones to check the stock of the ship and make sure all of the other filled positions are pulling their weight on the crew.

NAVIGATOR
The navigator is the person on board a ship responsible for the navigation of the vessel. The navigator is responsible for planning the journey, advising the captain, and ensuring that hazards, be it storms, other ships, or debris, are avoided.  They use compasses, maps, and sea charts and should be highly knowledgeable about the world, which is crucial when knowing where to sail and when due to weather patterns or otherwise that would impede the trip.

QUARTERMASTER
The member of the ship responsible for providing quarters, rations, clothing, and other supplies. Their primary duty outside of that is to maintain the ship's treasure and quota when shopping for supplies. They may work with other crew members before making any major decision involving the crew's wealth.

GUNNER
A Gunner is a person adept at using ranged weaponry on and off a ship. Their duties usually involve maintaining the cannons, firearms, and other ranged weaponry a ship may contain.

SHIPWRIGHT
A shipwright is a person who is responsible for the design, construction, and/or repair of ships, boats, and other marine vessels. They are responsible for the building and the repair of the ship; similar to how a ship's Doctor is responsible for the health of its crew, the Shipwright is responsible for the well-being and seaworthiness of the ship itself.

DOCTOR
This is someone who studies medicine and treats injuries. While out at sea, the doctor needs to be well versed in worldly knowledge of diseases in the seas that their crew will be swimming in. As well, they need to be able to treat virtually any sickness or wound inflicted on a member of the crew, if possible.

COOK
The cook, or chef, is the person who prepares food for everyone on the ship. A cook must have knowledge of nutritional values and know how to cook various things while out at sea. They also tend to be one of the main people a Quartermaster will check in with when making a list of things the crew and ship require before each stop at an island.

+ Full disclosure: this was originally going to take place in some distant future where Luffy found the One Piece and became the Pirate King, and the rest of his crew achieved their dreams, but I decided to go this route instead. I'll mainly be following the show, but I may add a few plot points it left out. This way, everyone should be able to follow along no matter which version of One Piece you've watched/read, and I can slow the pacing down. (Although, once I reach the end of season one, I may or may not keep going. IDK yet.)
