Virtual Truth or Dare
Shintaro, an old classmate of yours, had always been really cold around you, but regardless, for some strange reason, you felt the opposite towards him. You didn't know what it was that made your heart beat for him. Maybe it was the fact he'd locked himself away from the world for two years? Or maybe it was his looks? Either way, you knew these feelings were real... and they were provoked one day when you saw him out at the mall.
You's had run into each other by chance, or perhaps fate? But you's had organised to meet up with each other at the arcade this Saturday, and so it went ahead.
***Saturday***
You had chosen a loose grey shirt over a short black skirt for your getup today. Your hair was in its usual style, just the way you liked it. You were waiting over by the vending machines for Shintaro to meet you today. He was taking a while, so you decided to buy some soda.
"Y/n, You look nice today." You heard a dull voice say behind you. You turned to see Shintaro standing there in his signature red jacket. "Oh Shintaro! Uh why thank you!" You blushed as you looked away. "What're you doing?" He said as he drew near and stood beside you as you tried to decide what drink you wanted. "Oh I was just going to buy some so-" "Get this one." He pressed a button and the machine lit up. Shintaro pushed some coins down the slot. The rumble of the drink falling for some reason made you nervous. He bent down and picked it up out of the dispenser. "Here," he said as he gave you the cola flavoured soda. "Wait a second, let me pay y-" "Don't worry about it." He urged you to take the drink without you reimbursing him.
You drank it slowly as the two of you walked around the arcade, trying out different games and testing your skills. "Hey, can I have some? Please?" Shintaro asked as he looked over at your drink. "Oh this? Sure, since you know, you bought it for me and ev-" "Thanks." Him cutting in was starting to happen more often, but you didn't seem to mind. He finished off what was in the can. Once realising what he'd done, he looked into the can, a sign of concern spreading across his face. "Sorry, I drank the last of it. I can get you another if-" you got to cut him off this time. "Don't worry about it." You quoted. And then, for the first time that day, you saw him give a smile. A small one...
"Oh hey I haven't seen one of these before!" You gripped Shintaro's hand and pulled him over to what looked like a door to a room of some sort. "Oh these?" He said plainly as he looked at the screen next to the door. "What is it?" "Well, it's basically a game of truth or dare run by a computer." "How does it work?" "So, you come over here to this screen and enter in your sex and age, answer some questions on opinions of other players, etc. And then your opponent enters theirs as well. The two, or more, depending on how many want to play, will enter this here room. Once inside the room, there's no backing out on what will happen... you get a remote, like a pause play skip function too." It sounded interesting, you haven't seen one or heard of one before. "Can we?" Shintaro suddenly blushed at your question. "W-what? Well...if you want to... but, I'm warning your I've heard that some weird shit goes on in there." "Lets go! It'll be fun!" And so the two of you enter your details and answer the questions, and then head into the dark room.
Inside the room was a big TV on one wall, the rest of the room was empty, and black. You could see each other's faces lot up due to the screens light. A voice was then heard over the sound system in the room. "Welcome to Automated T or D, Player 1, Shintaro, T or D?" Shintaro looked around the room nervously.
"Dare." "Shintaro has chosen dare. Round 1: Shintaro has been dared to lie down with his head on Y/n's lap for the rest of the round." Shintaro nervously glared at you, you could see the words 'I'm so sorry' try to escape his lips. You sat down and crossed your legs, he laid down beside you and rested his head in your lap. He looked up at you, and even though it was dark, you could feel your eyes lock.
"Player 2, Y/n, T or D?" "Truth" you answered, hoping for something easy. "Y/n has chosen Truth. Round 1: Y/n has to tell Shintaro the worst thing she has searched up on the internet." "Ah what!? Oh!?" You stuttered as you looked down at Shintaro trying not to laugh. "Well... it was *insert whatever it was here*" Shintaro blushed at your answer "Really? You had the whole of the internet and you searched that? Come on get more creative! I would have searched up-" "don't tell me."
"Mid T or D, Player 1 and 2 must now make a group decision on what to chose. Both players will have to tell or do this." The telecom announced. Shintaro looked up at you, "Choose for me." He said blankly. "Oh okay... Truth!" "Again?" "You could've said it..." you's mumbled to each other. "You have chosen Truth. Tell each other who you secretly admire." You blushed hard and looked away, as did Shintaro who tried but couldn't since he was still dared to be in your lap. He didn't want to make anything more awkward.
"I like you..." "I like you too..." and that was all that was exchanged between the two of you, nothing else was to be said.
"Round 2: Shintaro, T or D?" Shintaro sat back up to normal now, since it was the second round. "Truth. Since I picked Dare last time." "Shintaro has chosen Truth. What is your saddest memory?" "Damn..." you suddenly felt sorry for Shintaro, knowing he's had to deal with loss of his dad, and Ayano... You and Ayano had been good friends too, and you made out that you dealt with the loss well, but secretly, you didn't... "Don't, Shintaro, don't go there... I know..." He had tears in his eyes. "Thanks..." he smiled, as he pressed the skip button.
"Y/n, T or D?" "Dare!" You exclaimed being a bit more adventurous. "Y/n has chosen Dare. Rub noses with the other player." You blushed again, looking over to Shintaro who was blushing just as much. You leant in close to him, feeling his steady breath against your skin, you were so close. Your noses touched, your lips were only so far from his and you had the urge to just kiss him. But you held it back, hoping he would be dared to kiss you later. You giggled at this scenario while you's were rubbing noses. "This is stupid." He muttered. "It's cute!" You teased.
"Mid T or D." "Dare..." muttered Shintaro, looking disturbed at the screen. "Dare? What are yo-" "Don't worry about it." He smirked as you blushed for what felt like the millionth time today. Everything and anything you did around him made you nervous, he was the only one who could make you feel like this.
"You have chosen Dare. You have been dared to hold hands through all of round three unless a dare comes up that requires you to break so." Shintaro reached out to your hand at your side immediately and didn't say anything. His hand was warm, you felt his soft fingers interlace with yours. His fingers weren't the only thing that felt warm, so did your heart at this rate.
"Final Round, round 3: Shintaro, T or D?" "Truth." "Shintaro has chosen Truth. What were your first thoughts when you met Y/n?" "O-oh..." he stuttered and looked down, your hand still in his. "When I first met you, when A-Ayano introduced you to me..." He trailed off in thought, trying to shake the thoughts of Ayano out of us head. "Shintaro..." you said quietly as you brushed a thumb on his hand. "Ah gomen... I actually thought you were one of those fake gossip girls, like the rest of them... but now I've got to meet you, I regret those thoughts, you're actually nice." He tried to smile as his grip tightened on your hand. "Aha well..."
"Y/n, T or D?" "Truth..." you said bravely. "Y/n has chosen truth. What do you intend to do in the future?" You blush at this question "I want to get married..." you mutter. "And live with my love for the rest of my life... because I don't want him to be all alone, locked away again." Shintaro looked deep into your (e/c) orbs. For a minute there, looking into his eyes, you felt slightly dizzy.
"Final mid T or D. What do you choose?" Shintaro answered for you, "Dare." "You have chosen dare." You looked away from Shintaro for a second, trying to figure out your head. He still hadn't let go of your hand. "Hug each other for two minutes." The computer said. You were shocked at such a thing it said, at least it didn't say kiss...even though you were hoping and expecting it. "Y/n..."
Shintaro wrapped his arms around you, bringing you in close. You found yourself wrapping your arms around him too. He put a hand behind your head, allowing you to bury your head into the nape of his neck. "Are you upset Ayano died too?..." you were shocked at him to bring up such topic. "Yes... I am..." you barely managed to say. Shintaro held you tighter, and suddenly you felt tears leaking from your eyes. "I'm not going to leave you..." he whispered in your ear.
One of Shintaro's hands went and brushed up against the side of your waist, under your shirt. He felt some scars around your waist, little lines...
You tensed up in his arms. "It's- no- uh-" you tried to make something up about these scars and cuts. "Y/n... did you do this to yourself?" you just stayed quiet. He felt your tears against his skin. "Was it because of Ayano?... are you going to?... leave me too?...." he started choking up, his embrace getting tighter. He put the hand that was on your scars and moved it to your lower back. You couldn't hold in your tears anymore, not that yo were doing a good job in the first place. "Please! Don't leave me! You can't!" And then you felt him crying into your hair.
"Shintaro..." "No!" "Shintaro! I wouldn't leave you, I love you too much!-" you suddenly woke yourself up with your words. You loved him, yes, that's what this feeling was... it was love. "Sh-Shintaro... I-I..." "I love you too y/n... I remembered today just how much I did, how much I still do. Please don't do this to yourself!" He felt your cuts again. "You're too beautiful... and I can't afford loosing you too..." you felt his eyes dampen your neck.
"Shintaro..." you mumbled his name as you felt yourself fade into his arms.
