Proofread
I'm reading this book called Unwind, not sure if I mentioned it but it's a good book. Really dark but if you like dystopian books, I recommend. The way I wrote this was kind of like the book, only the Walmart version 😅 still working on that rewrite btw. But anyways,
Enjoy!
~Third Person POV~
Shino walked slowly along the roof, gently walking a few feet above the group. It was normal. They were disguised, they were using code names, and they were quiet for the most part. Shino couldn't help but feel as though he was replaced with Colin or Kiyo. He shook off the feeling and continued the path, careful to not be seen as he switched from one building to the next. If there was an actual villain, they would have been easy targets for a sneak attack. Disappointing. They'll learn soon enough. Yeah, that's why Shino has been following them around. To train them. Just in case, as soon as they find out he's been watching, he'll back off. That's what he tells himself at least.
This game continues for a bit until Kol decides that they should head back. Then the real trouble starts.
Masked figures appear from shadows and pounce on the group. Shino now mobilizes. He carefully makes his way down to the ground level, silently. He hides for a bit, just in case they can handle themselves. Just in case they planned for this. Just in case something fixes the situation. None of those things happen. Instead, Shino witnesses the group fumble over themselves, each other, and almost get beaten to dust. Kol just starting to get things under control when Shino decided to jump in. He marks a path with the glowing sword he materialized, a glowing yellow line shoots up, forming a barrier between the group and the gang thugs. Shino now steps out of the shadows. He gives the outsiders a 5 second head start before making his next move.
When they get to a reasonable distance, Shino throws up his sword, kicking it aggressively. It hits one of the muggers close enough to his shoulder to pin him onto the wall. Must have left a scratch underneath his clothes too. Shino runs forward, kicking the other one back before swiftly punching him while he attempts to collect himself. One down, one to go. He rushes back to the guy pinned to the wall and pulls out his sword. He makes quick and calculated movements with the sword before throwing it back into the air and quickly kicking the gangster back to wall where he knocks out. Shino catches the sword before it falls and turns back to the group. None of their expressions are visible due to the masks, but they're mixed with emotions of fear, confusion, and maybe a little awe.
Shino brings down the barrier and dissipates his sword. Kol is the first to step forward. The two stare at each other for a while before Kol nods stiffly. Shino returns it. It's as if they are officers in the army, handing each other a quick bit of respect before returning to their original mission.
This nod says everything Shino needed to know. With that nod, they made a silent agreement to not only, not assassinate each other, but also, if a bullet were coming ones direction, the other would do everything in their power to save them. Everything accept give up their own life.
Little did Shino know, that's exactly what Kol would end up doing for him.
