So this idea came to me while I was supposed to be brainstorming for a story I'm doing for my ela class but.... It's too good to waste on my ela class.

Ok so ignore all the rwby references I make but it's a show I watched for a long time ok 😭 

Start the video and skip to about 4:20 after the first cut (—~+~—) beyond that point is what I envisioned for this story. I inspired this whole thing around this one clip. Or don't, it's not completely necessary, just exactly what I imagined the sound as for the part. Anyways,

So many others in the incident...

Dead.

Where did they all go...?

Why did they go...?

Who said it was their time...?

Why did they leave..

Why did they leave me...?

The ticking of the bomb rings in my ear. It's sounds slow and distorted. It disturbs me. Or maybe it's Artemis' close proximity to the bomb. He's frozen, knowing that the slightest movement could trigger it. The class watches, all their breathing hitched as if they're the ones two feet from a ticking bomb. Artemis glances at his hand and clenches his fist silently. I can read his thoughts. Then a hear a voice call out my thoughts.

"YOU CAN'T" Rikku's loud voice pierces the silence. 

"I can. If it means saving all of my friends." Artemis' hero voice is strong yet calm as he speaks. Rikku's expression settles to shock or surprise. Tears brimmed in her eyes.

It finally all hits me. I'll never see him again. Without thinking I try to rush towards him but white feathers block my path. I scream out in anger and sadness, tears falling down my face. I fight Avian as he pulls me away into the inside of our hovercraft. He drags me, whispering soft things in my ear as I struggle to break free from his strong grasp. Artemis glances at me and smiles softly, giving me a wave. I stop fighting and stare at him silently as Avian drags me all the way underneath. After locked the door behind us I stare out the window defeatedly. I press my hands against the glass as if I could touch him one last time. I watch the shadows engulf the separate hovercraft as this one flys further. I can still hear the bomb ticking in my ear as if it's right there.

Then all I hear is the muffled explosion and the shadowy blanket is filled with smoke before fading into nothing. 

My eyes start to water again, I bang my fist against the glass in frustration before sinking to the floor, sobbing to myself quietly. 

"WHY?"

"WHY WOULD HE DO THIS TO ME!?"

I scream into Avians pillowy wings. I'm not sure when they wrapped around me, but I welcome the comfort. 

Why...

Why would he do this to me...

Tears sting my eyes when I wake up. The familiar blankets of my room surround me. I look around my room before my eyes catch black and white hair. A snoring Artemis is beside me. 

It was just a dream.

I cuddle up closer to Artemis, trying to calm my breathing, holding him tighter. I don't know what I'd do if he...wasn't around for me anymore. His breaths were slow and long. Seeing him sleeping peacefully made me calm down. 

He's ok. 

He's here.

He's alive.

After one more deep breath, I press my face against his chest, taking in his scent. One more exhale and I think I can go back to sleep.
